The statement piqued his interest into the minds of Ori and Sage. He was not expecting such a comment but he did not show how amused said conversation was going. A small smile tugged at his mouth and he pondered a bit on the question. Attraction is worthless without a personality to match huh? Idly licking his lips thoughtfully he shook his head at the pair.

"Well, that is a conundrum, isn't it?" he chuckled lightly before adding with his response. "I believe everyone is entitled to their own likes, desires, and needs in a partner. There is no shame in wanting the person you'd like to spend the rest of your life with to be attractive. But..." he turned his head to look at a nearby statue thoughtfully.

"It's more such as the eye of a beholder really. Attraction to another being is mute if their personality is horrid. Like staring at a beautiful monster that you know can and will kill you at a given moment. But on the other hand in my opinion..." he paused pursing his lips trying to find the right words.

"Physical attractions are common; you can find anyone off the streets pretty of handsome without wanting or knowing them personally. Mental connection on the other hand is rare. You don't often find that spark in another person that gets you to your core. Remember, attraction is only one part of a relationship. Loyalty, commitment, responsibility, and maturity make up the rest.' he shrugged looking down at his shoes with a small frown.

"It is a rather back and forth question that can have two different sides to it. Physical attraction is fine, but being attracted to someone's way of thinking is a whole different level of attraction." he shrugged and gave a sheepish smile looking back up at him waving a hand idly as if to brush off his comment.

"But what do I know about love and attraction to anyone? I have spent most of my life facing down monsters and men alike. I didn't have the time to delve into that part of my life. I could be wrong but the one thing I have learned is no one is too late to learn something new." he replied glancing between the two with a raised brow.

"I suppose to shorten that long explanation. A physically attractive person is always a plus in a relationship but it said the relationship should not be based on that solely alone to conduct their bond or experience together." he bit the corner of his lip thoughtfully.

"In order for a relationship to last longer, a deeper connection must be made. I would rather not be tied to someone.." Ori's words trialed off, knowing that they'd turn into unkind things unintentionally directed about Kieran. This was his first time thinking more about it, so his words were flowing freely.

The older court member had released Ori's tail from his grip, finishing with the improvised brushing. "I guess it also depends on the, well, conditions of the relationship? I've heard about strictly physical arrangements lasting very long." Sage smiled, unsure of what phrase to use. He likely had more experience than the two of them despite being no older than the elven prince. Not being born a royal or into a high position had its own privileges.

Ori seemed a little confused but intrigued by the notions. Relationships were complicated, a little more than he initially thought. "Conditions? I wasn't aware that there was much knowledge worth discovering about this topic." He commented, glancing to Kieran. Their relationship would likely have certain conditions too written up on a contract. Those weren't the same conditions Sage was talking about, since the contract would be a bunch of diplomacy jumble and not about the two of them as living beings with their own thoughts and feelings.

He wasn't sure how his words would affect the pair. They had asked the question after all. Perhaps his explanation was a little too vague or formal? Kieran didn't want to offend anyone and although his words were something he believed looking over at Ori made him wonder if the other had any sort of experience with the matter of topic. The comment Sage made about strictly physical relationships and it made his sheepish smile tighten a little bit. He wasn't exactly offended; after all such matters happened more often than some may think but he did not wish for the apprentice to put it in Ori's head that the arrangement between himself and the prince would be physical.

"I do hope you understand that what I meant by attraction did not mean to be interpreted as...intimate physical. More as the way one looks." he corrected the man before adding. "If I may speak bluntly on the matter." he waved a hand between himself and Ori as he spoke.

"If this topic is to gauge what will become or to look forwards to in this arrangement I surely promise my only intent for this arranged marriage is to benefit from learning from each other as a nation through each other's history as well as keeping the peace between our homelands." He looked over at Ori looking earnest.

"I do not wish to make you uncomfortable. I am a patient man; I do not mind working at your pace for you to feel comfortable around my presence. Unlike what you may think of my people my father doesn't speak for everyone even if he thinks he does. We are all different in our talents and stories to tell from experiences and adventures. We are not all cold and closed off as my father wishes to make others seem. That being said, I wish to learn from your people; to understand what makes us different. But please don't make any mistake, just because this came on suddenly and we are both thrown into a loop of the unknown to happen beyond does not mean that we should stand apart from each other. If friendship is all that you wish or simply to be civil than that is what we will do. Whatever happens in the future that leads us for our people you aren't alone even if our views and traditions differ." he told him honestly. He would not touch upon the subject of romance; whether it will come to pass between them or not was not something that he had though to happen so thus he wouldn't speak of it in case it scared the younger prince.

Turning to Sage Kieran quickly changed the subject before it became too serious and gave him a small smile. "Enough talk of such serious topics. We shouldn't dampen the beautiful morning; we can agree to disagree where we must and move on. I also don't believe I have gotten your name sir. I had seen you among those of the debate but did not hear of what position you held in the Regnum Courts." he spoke conversationally.

There was an amused look on Sage's face. Ori couldn't understand him occasionally due to their difference in upbringing, age and general life experience. He could more easily empathise with Kieran and the duties of being born with royal blood. You could live your life in comfort, but all eyes were on you from the moment you entered the world. The weight of the kingdom and people heavy on one's shoulders.

"I don't believe physically intimacy was a consideration in my mind. Regnum Caelorum is lenient in terms of marriage laws but proper behaviour around and towards a godly being is quite important. Physical contact with someone such as I is strictly prohibited and punishable by amputation or a repentance ritual." Ori replied. Of course they weren't in Regnum Caelorum, which was also good. If Kieran and Ori had bumped into each other there, it would be difficult to get him pardoned from that sentence. Worship of the court members was very much look but don't touch.

Sage pursed his lips uncomfortably, glancing from Ori back to Kieran. That rule or law in particular had been a culture shock for him, despite the casual way Ori spoke of it.

"Sage, lord of magic and member of the Regnum Caelorum court. Perhaps the little light's only companion too." The mismatched eyed man said, giving Ori a pat on the head as if he wear a small animal. He disregarded it with ease, not desiring to react quickly as he had before,

The law spoken from Ori made Kieran bulk a little bit on the inside. What kind of madness did these people have as laws? Merely bumping into another being or something of that sort could be a result in your death? What a ridiculous and overly boarish thing to make a law. But yet again, for someone who thought they were gods they believed they could make whatever law they pleased to suit them. That was one thing Kieran hated about the Regnum kingdom. They thought far too highly of themselves. He did not say this aloud though because he wasn't going to try and offend the prince but he could not hide his distaste as Ori spoke of it.

"Plainly speaking that doesn't sound like a chance for development. Do your people not believe in bonds and friendships? Casual pats on the back to say good job or something like that?" he looked between the pair as if they had gone mad.

what a big difference between the two kingdoms when it came to such simple things as interactions with others. It sounded more like a prison than a kingdom in his opinion but he still put on a small smile even if his eyes told a different story. "Well, I suppose I will have much to learn in the month trial in Regnum. Let's hope I come back in one piece or alive." his comment about walking straight into the lion's den earlier towards King Solar comes to the forefront of his mind. Yeah, he seriously would be staring down the mouth of the lion at this point.

Turning his attention back to Sage he tipped his head respectfully. "A pleasure to meet you I'm sure," he replied. There was no point in introducing himself since everyone knew who he was at this point. "I hope I can learn from you so that I don't make mistakes when I'm in your kingdom. I rather like my two hands or my head on my shoulders thank you very much." he laughed a little awkwardly as he placed his hands behind his back as if to hide them.

Some laws weren't put in place by the court, in a way. The people grew their own culture and their government in a way was just there to make sure the lives of the masses were long and good. Like an ant farm. If they strayed down their own dark and vile path, hurting each other, then it would be time to shake the ant farm and have it all start over. But things had been good, at least in regards to the people not hurting each other and living good. The people weren't expected to fight in the war, the court had an army of their own to command. Joining the ranks was difficult but appreciated.

"You'll be alright, as long as you do not get caught. It's not us you have to watch out for." Sage smiled, having his own experience. He knew what laws were by the people and what were by the court. Ori's sheltered life meant he didn't know what were laws of the people and what were the ones that the court had implanted themselves. None of the books would clarify that the no contact rule was something made up by the people and their overprotectiveness of their Gods.

"If it's an accident, I'll excuse it. Again." Ori crossed his arms, trying to command the same air of authority that the sun king did. It didn't work too well due to his meek personality and soft glow-y appearance. His presence was low, looks mainly grabbing the attention of others.

"Again? You two have had physical contact before marriage, how scandalous." Sage joked although not loudly. It didn't need to reach Solar's ears, he'd us the people's law as an excuse to have some kind of leverage.

Kieran wasn't sure how long he'd last in the Regnum court the more he listened to the laws and found out the weirdness of the nation. What would happen if he was forced to move from his homeland to live with Ori in his kingdom? Even being married didn't even a pardon more it seemed if contact was made. So separate bedrooms, long dining hall tables sitting on separate ends where you could barely see each other, and sitting 6 feet apart in case of accidental brush-ups. Seriously, such a simple basic need of a human being is outlawed and punishable by death or mutilation. Well, when one kingdom claims themselves gods the people often follow in their footsteps he supposed.

Blinking back to the conversation he tuned into what Sage was saying and forced a small smile that didn't reach his eyes. It was clear it wasn't too sure about this marriage much anymore. He had the confidence before knowing that Ori and he wanted the bloodshed to end. But would Kieran have the mentality to be able to live forever with the laws of Regnum if by chance he was forced to leave his homeland to go into the lion's den instead? Right now it sounded more like a prison.

The joke didn't make the elf prince feel any better about this as his pale eyes looked over at Ori. "I should count myself blessed than your royal highness," he stated with a small snip of anger in his voice despite the tight-lipped smile.

"He and I literally ran into each other on the first day here; quite literally. I was too busy with my nose in a book as I walked and he was not paying attention either so collision happened and I had to grab onto him to refrain from him falling on his royal bottom," he stated in the last part a little sarcastically. "No wonder you acted as if I had burned you when I had grabbed your arm to steady you. I'm glad I learned my lesson and lived to tell the tale." he clasped his hands firmly behind his back. This would be a very common habit of his from now on whenever he would be around anyone from the Regnum court it seemed less he lose his hands.

Clearing his throat Kieran tipped his head towards them with a formal expression and a more polite tone as he straightened. Clearly, the conversation had made him angry and somewhere along the line maybe a bit insulted; it was clear the Regnum pair went from gaining two steps of interaction with the elf prince to taking 5 steps back in return with the direction the conversation had led. "Now, if you are no longer needing my company I can take my leave so that you may enjoy yourselves; or do you perhaps have more than you need my opinion on?" he stated glancing between the two with an air of indifference. The friendliness was gone replaced with something more of irritation and anger that he was tempting down.

Ori picked up on prince Kieran's lukewarm disposition, knowing he had completely missed the nail of foreign social interaction again. He wanted to tug at the two strands of hair that fell from the sides of his head orĀ  his tail lash about. That kind of childish behaviour wouldn't make his father proud. If he had lion ears to match his tail, they'd be pinned back in a silent display of frustration.

Between meeting expectations and showing his true feelings, the expectations would always win. He didn't relax his body language to be more friendly or open, keeping that proper royal demeanour up. "Lucky, indeed."

"Perhaps there is one more thing prince of Kesal. As a court member and therefore an official, my advice is for the pair of you to share a meal together. Without the hovering bodies of our kings. A passing conversation is no true way to bond or become better acquainted." Sage chimed in, either unaware or aware of the tension that'd been casted over them.

Clearly, being civil with each other was harder than anticipated when one wasn't used to social interaction and the other didn't agree with the customs of the other. Very frustrating and Kieran wondered if they would ever find some sort of common ground. Granted, the trial period hadn't even started and Kieran just wondered how he would ever survive. Turning his attention to the others once more he caught the last bit of what Sage was saying and he blinked at him. Having meals with each other outside of the eyes and ears of the others both servants and kings alike. Yes, that would be a good idea to get to know each other without the expectations on how to behave. Exhaling softly through his nose the dark elf's brows knitted thoughtfully and he nodded.

"I agree. if we are to make this arrangement work in both our favor then I suppose getting to know your ally would be best without the interference of others. But plainly speaking even that I do not see would be without scorn from the Regnum court if they were ever to find out such a thing happened. I would assume rumors would spread like wildfire in your kingdom about an 'ungodly' elf being left alone with the Regnum heir." he commented mildly

"Still, I will agree to attempt to understand the situation better and try to learn about your customs." even if he did not agree or agree to follow suit in those laws. Understanding it was a step better than scorning them altogether.

He wondered if the pair did not agree or click like the hopes were of the kings during the period trial and the proposal would be slid off the table in favor of another war. If anything though, if that were to happen he could use the knowledge that he had against them but so could they. No, he mustn't think a war would be the end result. He had told Ori he would be patient and try to understand from his point of view regardless of the disgust the elf felt towards those stupid laws.

"If it makes it easier on you Prince Ori I do not mind written correspondence between us if you ever feel the need to speak with me and are unable to for whatever reason. I find it easier to allow one's true thoughts to come out during writing when otherwise words are incapable of expressing themselves." he turned to Ori

Ori wasn't opposed to sharing a meal with the dark clothed man, he hadn't had anything to eat since awaking. Did he ever get hungry? He was dotted on so much that he couldn't possibly recall.

Once again, Kieran had voiced a good point. Some beings weren't above idle gossip, it entertained the privileged and their minds. Bad things seemed to be interesting when if didn't effect or involve the one hearing about it. Ori was among the privileged, but he had his nose stuck in far too many books to pay it much mind.

He gave a small and short smile at the other's considerations. The laws he'd lived by all his life didn't seem as ruthless as an outsider would call. He'd likely have a few of his own culture shocks while visiting Kesal for his one month test-run. Reading about stuff was one thing, experiencing it was another. Like war, being a solider must've offered a wealth of knowledge but not without the consequences. Ori had read stories about warriors returning from the battlefield only to have forgotten who they once were. He wasn't sure if the literature was fact or fiction, the lines would blur with age.

"Your suggestion shall be considered, as it is a clever one. Self expression is a diverse thing. If this will work for us then that is all well and good." He responded.

"Enough with the formalities and lengthy words, away you both go before the day is over and have exhausted all the words in every dictionary on this continent." Sage tsked lightheartedly.
