Let me wait for it to do it again, I mis-read the quest I'm on and wasn't even looking for the right creature in this case. That's a me problem, but this did happen to me last week as well.
Personally I don't see much of the item-specific ones, but I'm Merged and pick the same Cryptids. A good portion of my quests are fighting Kinfolk or otherwise battle quests. So most of my stockpiles aren't being hit to insane degrees the way others are. My salves? Yeah, my lead's been devouring those things like she's dehydrating in a desert and they're the last drops of water.
Getting rid of excess supplies isn't inherently a bad idea, but not this way.
We're all just picking our poison when we should be picking our favorites.
Maybe others have reported too. Hope it's a bug & not a feature.
My weird Schrödinger's deer encounter has been combined with other player's reports, but no word yet on that.
big agree with this thread -- i particularly like the taking multiple quests at once suggestion -- , especially since, even as a pretty old, semi-active player, my stockpiles have reached an all new low from doing the event quests. just right now i had 4 "give 5 healing slaves" quests in a row. that's 20 healing salves, which is around 60 uses since my herbalist is 100% prof. my herbalist is on full-time healing salve making duty but he can't keep up, even when i started the month with 100+ healing salves and the event has only been going on for a week. asking for 5 is just a bit much and i feel like 2-3 would be much more balanced. plus overall i think some of the quests given by the cryptids fall more into the tedious zone rather than fun & challenging, especially the nesting materials one for reasons stated by previous users (burying things i dont want to use, clicking over and over to craft the NM then unburying things so i can use them for other things can get really annoying).
also the worst part: the game keeps giving me rare fish when i need uncommons for the quests
A bandaid-solution with the healing salve quests is to use your healing salves directly from your hoard, and leave them at 1 use per salve. Then you only have to get rid of 5 uses per quest.
I did that the first few days, but there are so many quests requiring HS that it added up quickly. I just couldn't afford to keep doing it. There's 1 quest that specifies Full Use HS. Can't remember which cryptid it was now.
I absolutely 100% support this suggestion and would recommend implementing the adjustments stated in the potential fixes section. Less things to slay/defeat, greatly boosted odds for finding the creatures you need so that finding them will not take all day, reduce the amount of healing salves and nesting material requested, no practically impossible to deliver items. The nesting material in particular has irritated me since the start of the event and I don't even breed my wolves before they're high enough in stats - can't imagine how new players or packs that breed more actively are expected to pull through.
I get that we are able to skip quests and learn to pick cryptids that are less likely to give the impossible quests in the first place, but it seems completely silly to me that some of the quests are so not worth it. What is the point of even having these quests around if they're so off balance with the others that you will always want to skip them? I really don't see the fun in paying 30 SC to skip the quests of several cryptids every day because their requests are completely unreasonable and will screw up my rhythm for the rest of the day.
I skip the quests that ask to fight specific enemies, 3x alignment cryptids, nesting materials, healing salves, and cures. If I didn't, I'd end up giving up something like 30 healing salves and 18 nesting materials each day. Yes, I've skipped the Give 5x healing salves four times in a row before, so that's not really an exaggeration. I've counted. I've skipped 8 quests in a row sometimes because they ask for those things. I'm sorry, but 5 cryptid scales is NOT worth giving up 3+ different cures. And I agree, as soon as a quest asks for it, the specific enemy totally disappears. I generally spend a few hundred SC per day skipping quests. I'm lucky enough that my hoarding tendency and miserly outlook has me adequately supplied in enough of a stock of SC and items enough to complete a lot of the non-cure item quests or to be able to really skip a significant number of quests all the time. I could never have done that when I first started. Nor even for several months afterwards. I spend more SC skipping quests than I make each day anymore from raccoon sales and snake quests. I really want some of the apps, which is why I'm even putting in the cost and effort now. I just hope to high heaven that the apps aren't outrageously priced and the all this cost and effort will actually be worth while. Because if you have to struggle all month, or spam guarana, and still hardly afford one or two apps, it will absolutely not be worth participating.
