Main Plot: Adventure Subplot: Romance, Slow-burn, fantasy My Character: Name: Strix Age: 25 Height: 5'4 Species: Owl Shifter Description: Strix has a small frame built for agility and flight but he still does have some muscle due to long flights in his half form as well as carrying large prey over long distances. He has pale skin mainly from being a nocturnal animal and traveling at night most of the time, but he does have freckles covering his body from the little sun exposure he gets while sleeping in the forest. His hair is black, unkempt, and very curly; it looks like it was cut with a dull blade with how uneven the back is but he does have long tufts in the front that frame his face a bit. His eyes are a dark forest green but they look black at night so most can't really see the colour unless it's daytime or if the moonlight hits it right. All of the clothing he wears are stolen from people that venture and sleep in his forest since he never really leaves unless there is a valid reason to so this means most of his clothing doesn't fit him right. He tries to always get light, dark-colored clothing he can easily alter for his wings to go through so he doesn't have to worry about damaging his feathers. He doesn't wear shoes either which allows him to walk silently through most areas, even in the forest, but if he does wear covers it's usually bandage wraps or flat slip-on style shoes. Along with that, he keeps a pair of twin daggers strapped to his thigh just in case he needs to protect himself or hunt bigger prey. His owl form is that of a melanistic barn owl so his half form has dark black wings as well that give him a 10-12 foot wingspan in total. He has a spike on the wrist of both his wings used for climbing or fighting and taloned feet to also help with both things. He also does have clawed hands when he is in his half form but he doesn't really use them in fighting unless he can't use his feet. Personality: Strix is pretty friendly and childish for the most part since he does stay in the forest and only really interacts with traders, wanderers, and other children who venture a bit too far from home. He's always kept to the teachings of his mother that being kind is the best thing in the world and one should not show hostility to those who don't deserve it. So, at first, his trust is pretty easy to obtain, but once it's broken it's not easily regained. And while he is very kind to basically everyone he isn't really stupid and knows how to read body language and expressions since he's had to do with other animals all his life. Watching people as they travel during dusk and dawn has also become a hobby of his which taught him a few different speaking mannerisms. He picks up on things quickly because in a forest where only the strongest survive those who don't learn to adapt end up dead and he'd rather not be at the bottom of the foodchain. And through people watching he's learned a rather universal distrust for certain people like knights, hunters, and fur traders since they pose the most threat to him. When faced with a person he distrusts or dislikes he can be rather cold in his way of speaking and would rather not have anything to do with them. If they show no chance of changing then there is a possibility of him getting aggressive and confrontational if they keep pushing to be near him, or he'll avoid them if they do not. If the person is actively trying to be better and regain his trust he'll be a bit more lenient but he'll be wary of them for a while until he can trust them again. Misc: Strix has been a hired assassin but for the most part, he stays in his forest seeking out people to watch or accompany and doesn't really take contracts often anymore. Sexuality: Demisexual
Personality: Aloof, independent and keeps to themselves, Mono doesn't get involved in others' problems. When given a task they are very determined to complete it, pushing through countless obstacles. Due to their expressionless demeanor, a fair few find Mono to be stand-offish. But youngster seem to flock to Mono for attention or make it a contest to get a reaction out of them.
Appearance: 6'0, average build with muscle, pale skin, short soft white [top] and black [bottom] that flicks out, heterochromic blue [right] and brown [left] eye, grey eyebrows and a few small scars littering their body.
Fears: Unknown
Skills: A keen sense of hearing and smell. In terms of speed and agility, they're rather average but their high endurance makes up for it and has been good for solo travelling.
Background: Born to a single mother at a shelter, Mono spent most of their life around people who either had no home or were seeking refuge. They went to school as any other child would, but instead of returning to a house after each school day they'd go back to the shelter where their temporary residence was. Mono and their mother were well looked after, but the child never had any close friends. As Mono got older, their expressiveness became increasingly lacking and a cause for misunderstandings. They felt a little alone, but would count their blessings that them and their mother were safe and taken care of.
In order to earn extra money, Mono transports goods or exchanges messages across the land. The travelling the vast landscape alone works well for Mono and their stoic nature.
