Halloween Night  -  The Improvised Legend Of The Blood Moon

As the sun began to set, all of the pack's pups made their way up the side of the playpen, out of their dens, and gathered together under the moon. Tonight was a night they all looked forward to. It was Camp Night!
Every pup in the pack had chosen their favorite parent or idol to spend the night at the playpen.
Gallinipper had brought her older sister, Spooky, who had promised an exciting spooky story for the night.
So as the crowd grew, the story began.
"Once upon a time," Spooky spoke softly.
"In the territory up the hill, a hunting party decided to go on a different path than normal for their hunt. As they traveled, they began to notice three strange things. Firstly, there was no prey in the entire forest. No birds chirping, no paw prints left by the field mice."
She smirked to herself at the pups anticipating faces below her, and continued.
"Seeing this, they decided to turn back and go on their normal route to find something small. But as they continued, they noticed strange phenomenon number two: wherever they went, they'd always end up back at the same small clearing.
They laid down to rest and discussed their troubles with the situation for a while, then stood to try again, and noticed phenomenon number four. The moon had become a dark, shady red.  It darkened everything below it to an ugly, brown shade.
Suddenly, before they had even escaped the clearing, their leader froze. He began growling and drooling, and turned on his packmates!  His eyes crossed, and he attacked them one by one. Though eventually they took him down, his ghost would continue to haunt them and bring them illness and misfortune.
They never escaped the clearing, and instead fostered a new pack. as the generations continued, the threats of the lost ghost lessened.
That group became what is today known as…"
She paused for dramatic effect and leaned forward over the pups. "MAMMOTH SPRING!"
The pups gasped, causing Spooky to smirk. She had gotten lucky that none of these pups were old enough to know the pack's history.
"Even to this day, you can sometimes see and hear him as the moon rises…"
She lowered her voice as she spoke, then threw her head back in a dramatic howl.
The second she heard it, Narny leapt from behind the storyteller, growling and barking, covered in mud.
The pups scattered, yapping and running into each other. Chaos broke out as they scrambled under stones and into their dens.
The dust cleared, leaving only Spooky, laughing to herself, and Narny, smiling wide.
"Did you SEE the two on the left???" Spooky barked. "They ran straight into each other!"
"No," Narny replied. "I didn't."

Licking Tongues

It was a fine summer morning at mammoth spring, the type of morning a pup would prefer to spend exploring. Unfortunately Zathis mother had told him to dedicate this rare beautiful day to helping others.
"Go up to the little ones' cave." She had said. "It would cheer them up to hear stories and meet someone new!"
Zathi wasn't particularly fond of visiting the pug, and wasn't sure why his mother would subject him to such a fate. It was well known around the pack, even to the youngest pups, that the pug was snappy and dangerous. Hadn't she heard the stories? Foolish woman. It would be her own fault if he didn't return home.
He scampered up the steep incline of the mountainside, trying to keep positive about the situation. He respected his mother, even if she was very clearly in the wrong.
As he rounded a large tree, he caught sight of his destination: a small hole in the south face of the mountain, littered with rabbit, deer, and many other animals' feet. Some were tied to the roof, or trees around the cave, while others were scattered on the ground.
This was normal for the pug, he had quite a sharp temper, and was picky with which parts of the prey he ate. Zathi, however, was not; and had heard that the puppies were often given the leftovers. Perhaps he could leave with a small morsel for his troubles he thought.
What was not normal, however, was that it seemed every pup living there was arranged outside the den entrance, peeking and peering around each other as if stunned by the view inside.
Zathi approached carefully. "Mother's fault" he thought to himself. "If I die here it's mother's fault."
Creeping up to the very back of the crowd, he whispered to the wolf closest to him, "Hey, you, white one. What's everybody lookin at?"
She turned quickly, staring straight over his head. "I can't see it myself, but the other pups said Princeton has a girl over!"
Princeton. So that was his name.
"Can you see anything?" She asked, her ears spinning around on her head, trying to pinpoint where Zathi was.
"Why can't you see it?" He spoke quietly. "Is it too dark? I'm afraid he'll bite me if I stand up."
She turned her attention downwards, and he felt foolish. Her eyes were milky white. This must be why she had been left here. "I'm BLIND asshole." She growled, her ears erect.
His jaw dropped, he wasn't allowed to use that kind of language at home. The mere sound of it was wrenching to hear. He decidedly sat up, realizing he was taller and older than most of the orphans. He could easily see the pug and the girl.
"Oh geez! He really does have a girlfriend! Where did she come from?"

The white eyed pup ignored his question. "What does she look like? What are they doing! Nobody will tell me!"

"Let's see… she's got a stripe down her nose, that just means it looks different from the rest of her. Like a defining trait." He explained, trying to be as helpful as he could.
She turned to him, tapping noses on accident. What a considerate boy to be so helpful. "What's my defining trait?" She asked.
"Oh! Uh…" He looked at her eager face, trying to arrange the words in his mind. "Your eyes, they match your fur." He decided. "You look soft, like… hmmm. Like this!" He brushed his tail against her. "You look like how this feels!"
She blushed, but remained unaware that her flattered feelings showed to those around her.
"Oh." She spoke softly. "My name's Seyzey. What's yours?"
"I'm Zathi. I came from down the hill, my mother made me come."

She blinked at him cluelessly. "Well it's good you did, Princeton's never had a lady over! He only talks about how many bitches he gets."
Again with the language. He cringed.
Before he could respond, one of the pups screamed out in terror from the cave's entrance.
"THEYRE LICKING TONGUES!!!" She shrieked, causing the entire group of puppies to scatter. They ran all directions, barking and laughing, squealing with delight.
Zathi jumped, sprinting on his way home back down the mountain.
"ZATHI!" He turned to see Seyzey looking around for him in the chaos. "ZATHI DID YOU LEAVE?"
"IM GOING HOME!" He barked back, "BUT ILL COME BACK TOMORROW!"
She nodded, now facing him and smiling.
He hopped a few times, giddy over the pretty girl, then turned to run back home. As he raced away, he could hear Princeton exiting the cave, barking slurs and curses at the swarm of puppies.

Late Call

"LEFT!"
Narny reacted fast, veering left and racing down the hill.
"RIGHT" the little dove chirped at her, diving and swooping through the trees.
Narny heeded her warning again, veering to the right.
"IT LOOKS CLEAR UP AHEAD, GO STRAIGHT AND YOULL BE GOOD FOR AWHILE"

"Thanks Louie!"
Narny picked up her speed, feeling the wind in her fur.
"I hope we aren't late!"

Louie swooped closer to the ground. "We should be fine! I can see them from here!" She peered ahead at a small group waiting on a rock. "I'm sure they wouldn't leave you behind anyhow, seeing that Ollie's- AH! JUMP!"

Narny leapt into the air, barely clearing a small branch she had almost run into. "Careful Lou! You're the only eyes I've got Yknow!"

"Sorry Narny!" She squawked nervously. "As i was saying, Ollie's with em, he wouldn't let them go without you."

"Can you see if everyone's there yet?" Narny barked up at the little bird.

"Not from here, I'll fly up to get a good look, you're clear for awhile now!" She strained her wings to rise above the trees, and squinted in the direction of the group. "Let's see… Ollie's there, Chilly…" she counted up the group. "Looks like they're just waiting on- OH NARNY! LEFT! LEFFFT!" She dove down in a hurry, yelling as she fell.

"HUH?" Narny woofed. But it was too late. She slammed headfirst into a large pine, just nearing the bottom of the hill. Her bottom jaw planted against the bark as she froze in shock.

Louie flew down gently and landed on a branch just above her. "Oh I'm sorry Narny, I hadn't realized you veering off the straight line. I should know by now you won't know how to keep a steady path!"

"Thrts rk" Narny spat out the words in a struggle. "Mrybe ee shuld walk a res ofa way."
