Battle Enemy Stat Spreadsheet - MORE BATTLES NEEDED!

Battle Enemy Stat Spreadsheet - MORE BATTLES NEEDED!
Posted 2022-09-17 09:58:24 (edited)
We Need You!
As you may have noticed, there's still a lot to update in the sheets. The quantity of helpers is important here because we need as many perspectives as possible to provide more and more precise stat ranges - more varied leads, no matter if battles are won frequently or not. We're mainly interested in text displayed on the dice icons like this:

If you want to help us, participate in battles and post the content here. We need from you the following:
  • Battle content - the simplest way would be copy/pasting the battle report and this is all about this point. Numbers in square brackets must be included! If you want to share the content in more advanced way, hover over dice icons and read stat modifiers for the first 2 turns in the battle, latching attempt, fleeing and eventually other stat related modifiers you may find, share the modifier info here instead of pasting the whole report. Don't forget to point out the first turn.
  • Your lead's stats - the stats that your lead had during the battle. If you gained a stat, subtract the gained point.
  • The enemy's level - share information about the enemy and its level.
Example of advanced info shared:
Strength 240, Speed 161, Agility 208, Wisdom 146, Smarts 241
Level 11 Cougar
No Starting Modifier (Speed)
Enemy Lunge: High Agility
Latch/Crush: High Strength

You don't need to follow the exact pattern, just make it readable.

If you have questions or want to discuss theories, you can post here too.

Enemy Stat
While exploring, we can encounter enemies which we can fight. In every battle, our lead will rely on its stats to boost or hinder chances of successful roll for certain moves. This thread is focused on displaying which stat range our lead has to fit in to fight with base chances of successful roll depending on the enemy, its level and starting modifier. Lead's stat below/above the range will hinder/boost the chance of successful roll by 17%, respectively.

The data is in progress and actively updated. It'd require a lot of tedious work with editing if this was displayed on the site so I allowed myself to leave it in the spreadsheet which link can be found above. Further details and explanations can be found on the first sheet and below the credits.

Credits
The spreadsheet couldn't reach this greatness without help of other players who fought varied enemies to provide data and filled me with courage to publish it. Many thanks to: I'm also grateful for the Moderator Team who confirmed certain mechanics that allowed me to broadly update the spreadsheet as well as another guide and spreadsheet which helped me construct the sheets for enemy stat data:

Starting Modifier / Primary Stats
Every battle is initiated by the opponent's attempt to win the starting move. The attempt relies on either of 4 stats: strength, speed, agility or smarts (confirm bug: Growth Beaver relies on wisdom too?). The stat chosen for the attempt is defined as primary stat which also indicates the enemy's highest stat.

Every enemy has its own pool of stats, one of which is randomly selected as the primary stat throughout the battle. Individual wolf enemies rely on 4 possible stats: strength, speed, agility and smarts. Other enemies, including wolf packs and wandering Tala (except for Growth Beavers due to the bug) have the pool limited to 1 or 2 stats (for example, fox enemies rely on agility and smarts).

To learn the enemy's primary stat used during the battle, you have to read the first turn of the battle. You can learn by hovering over the dice icon if there's a stat modifier unless the stat modifier is neutral, which is not displayed on the dice and then you'd have to only rely on the flavor text.

The enemy's primary stat is strength if the following text is displayed in the first turn:
  • The  tries to overcome you with brute strength but you stand your ground. You make the first move.
  • The 's overwhelming strength makes you take a step back. Your opponent moves first.
The enemy's primary stat is speed if the following text is displayed in the first turn:
  • The  tries to run but you catch up to it. You start first.
  • The  tries to run and is clearly faster. You still have a chance but you missed the opening move.
The enemy's primary stat is agility if the following text is displayed in the first turn:
  • The  tries to dash away but you react quickly and stop it. You start first.
  • The  makes a swift dash before you can react. Your opponent has the first move.
The enemy's primary stat is smarts if the following text is displayed in the first turn:
  • The  tries to slip away unnoticed, but you act quickly and stop it. You start first.
  • The  anticipated your attack and outsmarted you. They have the initiative.
  • The  tries to surround you but you manage to outsmart it and start first.
  • You find yourself helpless as  surrounds you. They take the first move.
  • The  tries to group up to keep you out of reach of weaker individuals, but you manage to pick one out. You start first.
  • The  groups up and manages to keep you out of reach of its weaker members. They start first.
Enemies may drop stat depending on the potential primary stat pool plus wisdom which has slighter chance of dropping from any enemy.

Other Stat Related Moves
Except for the starting modifier / first turn mentioned above, there are more moves during the battle which rely on stats.

Strength:
  • Lead's move button: Latch
  • Lead's move button (when latching): Crush
  • Lead's move button (when locked): Snap
  • Lead's move button (when locked): Escape (anaconda, confirm: all individual enemies capable of locking?)
  • Enemy trying to free itself from being locked
  • Enemy trying to inflict poison (confirm: every poisonous enemy?)
Speed:
  • Lead's move button (successful first turn): Lunge
  • Lead's move button (successful first turn): Chase
  • Lead's move button: Flee
  • Failed first turn: enemy trying to tire lead out by running away
Agility:
  • Lead's move button (talent): Tumble
  • Failed first turn: enemy trying to inflict damage by lunging/charging
  • Individual enemy trying to lock the lead (confirm: every individual enemy?)
Smarts:
  • Lead's move button (successful first turn): Focus
  • Lead's move button (when locked): Escape (confirm: group enemies exclusively?)
  • Group enemy trying to lock the lead (confirm: every group enemy?

How to Read Data
  • Sheets divide enemies normally encountered during explore into individual wolf enemies and the rest (miscellaneous). Event enemies are put in separate sheets.
  • Row groups (4 or 5 rows long) represent the enemy and its primary stat in brackets (explained above).
  • Columns represent the enemy's level.
  • Single rows represent the stat that is put for modifier when a move related to this stat is performed.
  • Numbered cells display confirmed stat range for which a stat related move will be performed with neutral stat modifier (no modifier displayed). Greater-than sign shows the highest number that is confirmed for this stat related move to result in -1 Low stat modifier. Lower-than sign shows the lowest number that is confirmed for this stat related move to result in +1 High stat modifier. Question marks shows numbers put under question due to battle related bugs.
Examples? Let's say while exploring you found level 15 Red Fox enemy and prepare to fight. What can you expect? Let's look at the data from the spreadsheet, which can be found in "Miscellaneous" sheet under the proper row group and column:

It looks like the primary stat will be randomly selected between (agility) and (smarts). We gotta read the first turn content and match to the proper primary stat. If the first turn is agility based, we gotta look at the data with agility in the brackets. Let's say that our lead has 230 of every stat. It means that:
  • with 230 strength, our lead with fight with +1 High Strength modifier on strength based moves such as latching and crushing because the data confirms that at least 216 strength is enough to have high chance of successfully performing strength based moves,
  • with 230 speed, we have no idea what speed modifier we'll get during the battle as the data only reveals that at least 270 speed is enough to fight with +1 Speed Modifier and nothing else for lower numbers so we gotta perform speed related move such as lunging, chasing or fleeing to find out,
  • with 230 agility, we'll either start the first turn with -1 Low Agility modifier or no modifier as the data above only reveals that at most 154 agility can result in -1 Low Agility and 241 agility will result in no modifier but no information about the stat between,
  • with 230 smarts, our lead fits within the range and if we decide to focus, we can be certain it'll result in no stat modifier affecting this move.
For enemies with more than 2 potential primary stats such as wolves, some stats can overlap and the stat modifiers can change between battles despite fighting the same enemy with the same selected primary stat such as in the example below:

As you may see, fighting level 15 Alaskan Tundra Wolf which primary stat turns out to be (speed), you may get no agility modifier for agility based moves (tumble, defending a starting attack) throughout the battle if your agility fits in range 216-228 but you can find another battle where you'll fight with +1 High Agility modifier despite the enemy's primary stat and your agility not changing.

You can also estimate the range and your stat modifiers by reading data from different levels. The spreadsheet contains data that has been submitted and assumes stat scaling with level and primary stat being the highest.
