In humans, chimerism most commonly occurs when a pregnant woman absorbs a few cells from her fetus. The opposite may also happen, where a fetus absorbs a few cells from its mother. These cells may travel into the mother's or fetus's bloodstream and migrate to different organs. They may remain in a mother's body or a child's body for a decade or more following childbirth. This condition is called microchimerism. Twin chimerism A more extreme form of chimerism can occur when a pair of twins is conceived and one embryo dies in the womb. The surviving fetus may absorb some of the cells of its deceased twin. This gives the surviving fetus two sets of cells: its own, and some of its twin's. In other cases, human chimeras develop when two different sperm cells fertilize two different egg cells. Then, these cells all fuse together into one human embryo with crossed cell lines. This is called tetragametic chimerism. Symptoms of Chimerism * hyperpigmentation (increased skin darkness) or hypopigmentation (increased skin lightness) in small patches or across areas as large as half of the body * two different-colored eyes *genitals that have both male and female parts (intersex), or that look sexually unclear (this sometimes results in infertility) two or more sets of DNA present in the body's red blood cells *possible autoimmune issues, such as those related to the skin and nervous system Is Chimerism fatal? Not from what I've read on various websites. Chimeras with both genders do risk being either infertile or having a low fertility rate. There's also the autoimmune issues too. Life may be difficult but being a chimera isn't a automatic death sentence. Is Chimerism hereditary? Not at all. The condition is random. If a chimera parent has offspring their children will have the same chance at being one as much as any random child. Just because they have more than 1 strand of DNA doesn't mean both will pass onto the same child. To anyone's knowledge it's not possible. what can be done if added to the game * To balance the autoimmunity the wolf could just get sick easier. Each rollover a dice could be rolled for already existing illness. * Most real life cases of heterochromia are either hereditary or from a type of chimerism so it'd fit still * The mutation could physically present in the eyes being different colors which can include the special eyes. The mutated pup could just have each eye be the color of the parent's; ex Tranquil from mom and brown from dad. Pretty much for eyes it'd be a roll for each eye. * Pups born with it could come with a notification to pick a gender. Most human parents are given the same suggestion to do that since have 2 genders in the same body could cause other health risks This is still a WIP as I continue to do research and add info. |

My biggest issues is that Chimera mutations rarely match another case. Compared to melas and albinos where the whole concept is based around having an abnormal amount of melanin. This opens the mutation up to variants within the variant, like in wolfplaygame where there was like 8(?) different mutations. Additionally, we already have heterochromia and infertility. Adding a mutation that plays with those factors would only complicate or undermine the idea. Another lil problem I'd have is the autoimmune mention. If it were added, it would further complicate the game, forcing the code to add another layer of thinking to battles, damage gained from illnesses, and even death. With my personal experience with Chimera mutations in the past, and the loose state of this suggestion, I have to put my vote in as a firm no support. I am however open to listening to how you'd suggest to counterbalance or work the mutation into the game if you'd like to try to sway me lol Edit: Mild issue with the "choose a gender" idea- also kinda undermining the whole gender influcening items in the game, for both breeding and swapping gender. Animals would also be unable to do anything about it, which would only push a lil more for the mutation to be unnecessarily complicated. |

Like I stated, I'm still learning about this so the topic is a WIP. |

Per the Game Development Guidelines, the developers are not currently accepting suggestions for mutations or variants, so we will lock this thread. You are welcome to re-post your idea when the developers open to these sorts of suggestions! This is a moderator post. |
