i'm thinking that the 'soul' of the rider has just left the body and being still eggs, the bond was able to switch to kyle. figured for fun reasons a bond switching people has only happened twice and that was only when two people were pregnant while still riding and ended up dying in childbirth and so whooo their kid got an almost fully grown dragon which backfired horribly cause their ageing then stopped at about 10. so they had to live like 75 years looking like they were 10

they're at the very bottom rn. might make it that there's a series of bells, ring a specific one and a corresponding one will ring in whatever area, then byx can start walking down and ilia will make sure the students are settled before making her way up, they'll meet like 3/4 of the way down so its easy for byx to just head down to the students
