Having a global chat on the sidebar is a bold and potentially dangerous choice for a website that usually sees several hundred users online at a time, especially as there's multiple boards to moderate. But the Mods keep everyone civil and maintain a friendly and loving community in the Chat, which echoes into a friendly and loving community in the game. It can't possibly be easy, but they manage. And honestly, I enjoy Wolvden more because of that. I actually found out I liked an additional set of pronouns because of the Wolvden Chat. A Chat I wouldn't use if it were poorly moderated, if it were allowed to become a cesspool of insults and hostility. I enjoy using it because it's so friendly and fun, with occasional gentle guidance from the Mods. And sometimes they talk to us, with their shiny green messages. I love when they do that. And that's just the Chat. They also fix bugs for us (and reporting a bug is so easy! They just ask we check the bug isn't already reported!), make exciting new features and events, try their best to balance things correctly, and all of the behind-the-scenes work necessary to run a virtual pet site with a complicated genetics mechanic. All in all, Wolvden would be a sad, wet lump with the Mods' continued, persistent upkeep, and I'm glad they're here for us. Thank you, Mods! |
