I would love it if the wolves gained XP each time they travelled!

Love all this would be awesome!!!! However the option for breeding a traveler would be nice still, like the owner can choose to allow breeding or not. Then if the wolf is transfered before they give birth or ween their pups (the pups automatically follow her if not weened) and once they are weened they are transfered back to the pack they were breed in? Just something like that where the host can choose to let their wolf breed and if they do whatever pack bred them will always get the pups. Idk how that would actually work but it's just like a idea or premise I think would rock! And if they could have like speed pair bonds or something. Like it's only 5 rollovers for their pair bond cooldown but they can have a breeding cool down that's a little longer to make up for it? Just ideas!! Love that travelers could be offical!!!! So excited!!!! Thank you Devs!! <333

i honestl didn't know this was a thing till now

the only possible issue as see is with pregnant/nested gals

i don't think gals that are pregnant should be allowed to be in the role traveler and same goes for nested gals just cause i wouldn't want pups to be born outside my den causing the bio's to be messed up

While I do enjoy the idea of traveling wolves becoming a feature of the game itself and I think everything proposed will do nicely, I also do think a lot of core parts of traveling wolves are not mentioned and should be incorporated into the feature to better fit the game.
  • A timer set by the traveler's owner for the maximum amount of time a wolf should remain in one host's pack. If this timer is broken the wolf should probably be returned to the owner's den so they can continue their journey.

  • A set 'retirement' age for when the wolf will return home to their original pack to live out the rest of their days. For the game this was 6.5 years old since they can die at any point after that point.

  • Make it impossible for anyone other than the owner to rename a traveler. It's just common courtesy and makes sense.

  • Only allow each player to own one traveler. They can host multiple but can only ever own one. I personally do not care for this rule but it was one that existed<
  • Allow owners to choose if they want their travelers to be able to breed or have their appearance changes. Decors are fine but not everyone wants their wolves getting applicators and some people do want their wolves having pups.



I also had a few ideas that would probably help to make the feature a litte better and more fleshed out - while not being overly hard to add.
  • Seperate warning banner and area in a rollover summary for owner when a host is neglecting their traveler so they have the chance to save them.

  • A new section of the TC for traveling wolves. They all function as gifts and can only have a traveler added to them. This would make it easier to find and participate while cutting down on massive amounts of forums. Alternatively, a new forum thread just for travelers to be advertised.

  • If time limits or retirements are added I'd like to see the current host get a warning banner or message when their time limit is running out and [X] will return home on [X/X/X]



Nonetheless I think I'm with the others saying this should be a low priority. We have features pending from a roadmap released a year ago with no news on them. I'd much rather see those than a feature that pertains to only a portion of the community.

This sounds neat. I seen people doing this and saw in chat when someone buys wolf they didn't know or care and took all items or boi off that wolf. I wouldn't mind taking traveling wolf writing one paragraph depends on how others wrote his or her stay and personality. ^^

If the owner can recall the Wolf at any time, why would a timer or retirement date be needed? They can just call home the Wolf. I'm asking because I wasn't part of the traveling Wolf groups and it seems like that's covered under the plan already πŸ˜…

imo, neither of these would be necessary if we had a recall feature. If the owner sees their wolf staying too long, or if they want them returned at a certain age, they can bring them home at any time.

A bit of background on this one (not for you in particular, just in general): For a while, the traveling wolf community was having issues where people were sending out multiple wolves, but only hosting one, so there were more wolves than available hosts and it was causing problems for everyone. That's where the "one wolf" rule came from. At the time it was implemented, I thought it would be better to have a rule where you always host as many as you have active (e.g., if you have 3 active travelers, you should host 3 outside wolves) but keep it flexible for people who want more travelers. However, that would be an honor system type of thing and not easy to implement in terms of coding. If it's going to be an official role, I wouldn't mind seeing it limited - just as you can only have one herbalist, you can only own one traveler at a time.

I'm a new player but that does sound like a really interesting idea for sure. Definitely having the ability to recall immediately makes me less weary about the feature and perhaps using it.

I'm okay with limiting how many wolves can be a traveler as it is understandable but i like the idea of the honor system for it. Maybe as a later update?
Honestly i'd like a max of 4 travelers i can send out and wouldn't mind taking in that number or more. Though this is me and what i'd be okay with.... Maybe it can be similar to how much turf ya got like for hunting parties?
