I would rather have my prayers go ignored than whatever this is.

"this" not being the conversation. "This" being my so-called "curse". Maybe I should crack open my Bible again and search for answers. But I think I want to stay clear away until my dog has passed.

The worst part of pet ownership TBH. But I work at a vet clinic and I can absolutely say that sometimes the hardest decision is the best thing we can do for our friends.

I agree.. back in  2016 I had to put my 8 yr old boxer down because she had some kind of cancer.. it was the hardest decision I've ever made but she had declined so bad in health and my friend saw it.. so I took her and had her put to rest then had her cremated. I have her ashes and oddly enough I have another dog that acts just like her as if she's been reincarnated. God works in mysterious ways. She came to me a year later and she will be 8 this year so I'm really hoping she makes it longer than my past dog. The next dog I get will be a rescue from the animal shelter. From here on out I'm rescuing dogs not getting them from pet stores. Like the saying is adopt don't shop

Adopt is the only way, then you will never have a problem with a pet you don't want.

True.. but this is also true your past dog if you pray will guide you to another pet because I prayed that my mom's past dog that she had to put to rest last year would guide her to another dog and ironically she had a tug at her heart to go to the humane society and there she found a puppy that needed a home. He was in a very bad situation and lost his sibling due to neglect. He was underweight at the time when the humane society found him but now he's in very good health and is still high strung being only a little over a year old. He's a Dutch shepherd cattle dog mix so he's one of a kind. Lol

I like to revise "adopt don't shop"
Adopt or buy from a reputable, responsible breeder. A good breeder never lets their dogs end up in shelters. They do health testing, training, temperament testing, and so so so much more. They are the ones trying to better the breeds they're passionate about.

I consider myself one of the reputable breeders. All of my puppies are placed before they're conceived. And I don't think I've ever profited off of my liters because of all the work I put into them. My goal is to break even. The "break even" isn't even accounting for all the work I put into proving my dogs are worthy to breed. It doesn't include the training, competition, titles, and vet bills. The break even is only for the breeding specific tests and puppy raising supplies.

*Does a double take* 50??

Don't want to start any beef, but respectfully.. adoption is still the better option. I think it's great that you're a responsible breeder! And everyone should be allowed to pursue the career they're passionate about. But.. that doesn't mean It's the right choice for someone looking for a pet.

Of course, my opinion is biased, coming from someone who works at an animal shelter.. but I would choose to rescue an animal that could otherwise be euthanized, an animal that may have fought for its life, or defended its family. An animal should never be seen as not enough because one human neglected it, or because its past was unfortunate. They all deserve families, including animals from breeders, but dogs and cats in shelters are the ones who need it.

Of course, everyone is absolutely entitled to their own opinions! But.. adopt don't shop.
