All the people in my Blocked list were blocked because they were being rude in chat. I think it would be helpful to be able to choose how a block applies to an account. Topics that bring out bad behavior are less common outside chat, so I might not mind interacting with them otherwise.

Also, I think the way it's set up now might reveal to someone that you blocked them, which makes me a bit uncomfortable. I was searching wolves by marking and came across one I couldn't see because it was in an account I blocked. People could feel upset when they discover this and badmouth that person in a way that gets back to them through other players. I.E. "I know this person breeds for this kind of wolf, so I bet that's who it is." Maybe allow an option to block a person's messages/word-based interactions, but still be able to see their account and trade with them.

Support!
It would be much nicer if this was integrated.

Support! The most relevant thing I've seen to this is some people who block just to filter out people from the TC (usually those who tend to post a ton of the same trade) or block those who purchase a wolf judt to chase it.

I think it would be better if you could possibly block just that person's trade.

I have played various types of games where block function exists but I can't remember any where blocking is so apparent like here, in Wolvden. I can't remember any where I learn a user blocked me without interacting with them. Only in this game players can learn blocks just by looking at profiles.

Blocking restricts relation with another player the same way as being blocked - what you can't see as blocking user, you can't see as blocked and vice versa. There are various of ways to notice a block, especially when using chatter - two users active in the chatter will easily spot a block between each other, whether it's by an unavailable post, even number of threads on the page (page is supposed to have 25 threads) or blocked user bumping/replying a visible thread. I found it problematic in Wolvden in the beginning but I got used to it. I can give 2 perspectives on this:
  • Personally, as a player who mostly gets blocked rather than blocking, I don't feel like it's something completely negative as I felt after the first blocks. I even can look at it positively in most situations, having knowledge that I've been blocked and what I can do. This makes for an interesting gameplay and funny stories when one is creative at it.
  • If I were a staff member trying best to cultivate the game and reduce inappropriate behavior, I would appeal the issue of blocked users knowing about the block so easily. The code shouldn't make blocked users the same as the blocking user. There needs to be a new code for blocked users to make the block as discreet as possible especially to the blocked users who currently have more knowledge than third parties, what is the fear of the users who decide to block.

Expanding the first point, I started to consider block as a part of the gameplay - this is something I am able to clearly point out and it influences how I play - I am aware of the block regardless whether I want it or not so I can't say my decisions are not affected at all.

And why I see it positively? It's a game and about fun experience. I have partook or heard stories where block made it really fun. What about competing in fishing with a player one knew nothing about except for being blocked, the teller saying "I can't lose to this blocked user!" and being satisfied with the score of two blocked to each other people being much better than the third in place? What about seeing a user unblocking just to send a stud request, purchase a ticket for raffle or buy out a trade? Bidding wars between blocked users being much higher than normally, resulting in overpriced trade because none of them intend to give the one another the trade content? Those situations that have happened in Wolvden made some days brighter from blocked user's perspective and gave a lot of laugh as it's expected from a game.

Those visible blocks make chatter threads attracting to view them because this non-linked A User (insert date here) just stands out between 24 threads posted/bumped/replied by players with linked names. I have purchased something from asset/art thread that I wouldn't have purchased if a blocked user hadn't replied/bumped the thread because I wouldn't have known about the thread, one of many similar threads that offer something. Even advertisements seem to be less attracting than blocked user activity from my experience because ads are cluttered in certain channels and so are threads in certain chatter boards.

The moderation team instructs us not to discuss about who we have blocked or anything that hints towards their identity. However, I have witnessed such occurrences before a moderator intervened when casually reading the Main chat or some chatter threads. It also happens in third party services dedicated to Wolvden topics such as public Wolvden servers on Discord. Mere users knowing about being blocked, even without intentionally revealing the user identity, they describe in so much detail that can relate to the blocking user, such as talking about their very specific wolf or screenshot with trade ID. Most of these topics could've been avoided if there was no awareness of being blocked.

In conclusion shortly and TL:DR version, I started to like how being blocked works because knowledge is power and can be fun when used in creative way but I doubt these effects are intended by the development.

Thanks for sharing. I have also never been on a site where you were allowed to figure this out like it is here. As someone with social anxiety disorder, finding out/being found out is stressful and not entertaining.

Wouldn't be opposed, though only if there were also an option that would allow players to block everything from a person that has blocked them or that they have blocked because once I have blocked or been blocked by a person I have zero interest in further interacting with them in any way, be it trades or otherwise. In this instance I would just want to be left alone and in the few instances where I have found that I've been blocked by a person I mutually block them back to cut off an avenue of potential harassment and continue about my day.

While there are many reasons to block someone and I fully believe that if you want to block anyone for any reason its your business, someone that is blocked should absolutely have a say on whether or not they want to interact with someone who has blocked them.

Support. There's a few users I would like to block for various reasons, but I don't have a problem interacting with them in a non-direct manner (e.g., I don't want to interact with them via chat/PMs/forums, but I have no issue interacting with them for trades). This has led to me not blocking people because, in addition to what other people mentioned about the block being somewhat obvious, I don't want to entirely shut down all potential interaction. I don't care if they buy my trades, I care about their behavior in chat or forums. It would be nice to be able to customize a block to reflect this.
