Ziron just gave a swift nod, putting his nose to the ground quickly picking up the scent of a hare that wasn't too old. He moved as quietly as he could, searching for any signs of the hare he was tracking. Ziron's ears swiveled, mindful of his steps, careful to keep from stepping on anything that would be too loud. It didn't take long for the scent to become fresher, causing him to move deliberately and slowly, eyes scanning as his nose quivered excitedly. Ziron knew he was getting close. It was a matter of when he saw it, rather than if. The male was confident in that. The barest whisper of grass being flicked, and the soft thud of flat feet against the ground froze the wolf in place. His ears lifted and swiveled, quickly locating the source of the sound. Sitting quietly to Ziron's right, about two yards away, a plump hare sat. It was unaware of the wolf that was downwind of him, and was contentedly grooming his face with his paws. He would lick his paws, rub them over his face, and then up to his ears, pulling them down one at a time with the motion. The little tyke was blissfully unaware of the impending doom that was slowly stalking his way towards him. Ziron crouched and then immediately sprang forward as soon as his muscles were coiled. The lanky he was fast, his legs barreling him forward at top speed. The hare quickly sprang into movement shortly after Ziron did. Unfortunately for the hare, though, it didn't give it too much of a head start, and quickly the lupine caught up. Ziron snatched the helpless creature in his jaws, violently shaking it while crunching his jaws into the hares' neck at the same time. Auditable snap filled the air and Ziron dropped the limp body to the ground with a triumphant pant. His tail swayed back and forth a bit with the success. Knowing that one plump hare was all he could realistically carry at a time, Ziron picked up the deceased creature and turned. He knew the others were expecting bigger prey, but with the others being inexperienced, it was safer to go for smaller food. Moving towards his destination, the male took in tidbits of information, some of it useful, some of it just for his own knowledge. It didn't take long for him to arrive at the chosen spot where the others were waiting, and he emerged from the trees, his gait a refined trot. He dropped the plump hare at Tempest's paws, not meeting her eyes. "I'm going to get more," he said softly, his sea-green eyes holding kindness for a change. Quickly shaking his fur, he left without waiting for an answer. |
