Unfortunatly our impossible mode must now come to a close…I am working on (hopefully) applying to college and will not have time to maintain our demanding little pack. Having 70+ wolves is already hard work as it is, with free time most of the day. I would not be able to upkeep it with classes thrown in too, so must thin down as much as possible. Sadly our little guys didn't make the cut, but I will leave this thread here in case anybody else is daring enough to try it with their own pack! A person in chat and I had an idea for this particular mode, and about whether it would be possible to maintain a pack in this way. This is a forum page to keep track of my personal 'impossible mode' project. Rules and restrictions will be listed below. As the title says, this game mode is most likely impossible to maintain, but I'm here to try it out for fun lol! Inspired by a game mode 'death to all' by: Baroness This entire project will be maintained in a single yet separate cave within my pack, linked below- impossible Cave Rules
Any new ideas i could implement? Feel free to suggest in a post! Starting off the day with our first victim claimed, Blizzard! He's younger meaning lower starting stats. Nobody has too high hopes for him. He will be the first of the hunting party as a chaser. Next up is Willow. More hopeful starting stats than blizzard, with a decent strength lean, she'll be the hunt teams finisher. Bark has been claimed shortly after the others. Not the best starting stats, but I guess we'll see how well she does as a second chaser. Due to a clashing personality with the others, and being unable to utilize personality changers, Sunbeam will be the groups scout. Probably the safest position within the pack. Ice, the most promising of the batch! The highest stat count with a very good lean toward stalker which is the position he'll be filling. The final one to be claimed, Clay. And Whoop-dee-do the first sicko to enter! Along with the second lowest stat count. The last chaser to enter. The hunt team will be heading on their first hunt of the day. Hopes are high with a 94% success rate for critter trails in mountains! Day two proceeds uneventfully. The hunt team now has 7 successful hunts under their belts. (See hunt stalker for prey list) and Clay has now spread the pimple worms to Willow. Fun! Welp we spoke too soon as we have our first casualty one day in! The lot sheepishly bringing back a consolation prize for losing the original prey does not in fact count as a successful hunt! Due to the chasers managing to lose prey on a 97% success rate (seriously?!) and just hours before the end of the day too, we put it up to a vote between them and looks like Clays getting the boot! The others will not be sad to see him go with a now tarnished hunting streak. Riverbank has been claimed today, meant as a replacement chaser in our hunt team. Despite being the strongest wolf to have been brought in so far, we see many potential conflicts between him and his hunt team, and fear he may not last long here if it costs them the prey. However there may be hope for him yet, as his first hunt brings us our first medium and large scent trails; even though it will be many many more days before we ever attempt those. (Ha little did I know…) Also attempted our very first small trail, because Ice was incapable of finding any critters. 54% success rate but hey we got her and got a nice porcupine carcass to throw in the pile! Uneventful day today but would rather not jinx it like day 2… River is holding up surprisingly well for having a conflicting personality with some of the others. Again Ice is too good for his own good. This time only finding medium trails at 47% but once again the team surprises me, hauling a mule deer carcass back home! Yes we did indeed jinx it again. The teams daredevil escapades as of late resulting in Willow losing the small prey as Ice yet again decided to not play it safe and find critters. Time to say goodbye to Willow and the last of the potential ringworm epidemic. New dude Ash. Here to replace Willow. A bonus of matching personalities this time, and a very nice chaser lean. Unfortunately he's here to fill in as a finisher. Let's see how he does. No hunts were sent out today so Ash remains untested until tomorrow. But that's not all the news today, as poor sunbeam comes limping in with an open wound! As she's now unable to work and for some reason this doesn't randomly cure at RO (unless grouse house my beloved is lying to me…) old girl now gets to fend for herself. She is spared an extra day here at least until I find another wolf to fill her slot. Today is… a very very sad day. But first… Here comes heatwave. New scout of the pack! Ash went on his first hunt, and was successful, congrats buddy! Now on to bad news. Me being on autopilot sending my four hunting parties out, did not look at which particular party I had selected, and sent my poor hunt team on a large trail with a small 30% success rate… needless to say, this slip up cost me Ice, who lost the scent trail. And rules are rules, despite me growing attached to him…We know what has to happen… Today marks one week in to our challenge! So far from our original batch, Blizzard and Bark are still kicking around! I knew you could do it buddies! Meet Sandy! Replacement stalker for Ice! (But never in my heart ): ) very good starting stats with a fair amount landing in the needed roles. And shes already got 3 successful hunts going for her at the time of updating! Unfortunately there was some squabbling between Ash and Riverbank causing the loss of the prey. River has managed well with the previous romantics in the team, but it only took just a couple hunts with ash for things to blow up . Good luck out there River! But Cream Puff coming in! And one of the first wolves to actually have the proper stat distribution favoring the spot she'll be filling! and no, I definitely don't see any forthcoming issues with throwing an aggressive wolf into a hunting party of mostly friendly ones Today we boot both Cream puff and Ash. Cream puff from the very foreseeable clash with her hunting partners, fighting with everyone but Ash. Ash, well he managed to lose the prey, again on a 95% success trail! >:/ (sweet revenge for what you made me do to River hehe!) Here we have pollen. Replacement chaser for cream puff. Unremarkable, besides that totally eye blinding pelt >.> And here we have Slate, up to replace Ash. This dude was very iffy during befriending, but decided to join at the last minute with a close 5 arrows. I bet he wont regret that decision at all… >:) Ash marked the last of the romantic wolves in the hunting group, the party now consisting of just friendly and stoic, so future clashes should be non-existent for a while. Good. These guys need to get their shit together if they expect to not starve during the winter and actually get their hunting rates up before then :P Slow day today, as I wasn't able to check up on the pack too many times. Today we have not had any casualties, which marks the first day without incident since day three. Sandy only found small trails for their last hunt of the day, at a 57% success. I sent them out but I'm not gonna check back until tomorrow, so I don't break the streak for today Sandy also decided to bring back some mange. Future epidemic on our paws or do we get to chase her before then? Let's find out Nope pandemic averted just one RO in lol. They were successful on their small trail, thankfully, until Sandy, again, could only find small trails and up. This proved to be her downfall as the second small trail was lost early on. Goodbye Sandy, with your crusty butt. This is flare, maybe a relative of heatwave But anyways, this girl manages to have the all time lowest starting stats, AND her lowest stat points are of course the ones needed for a proper stalker. However, this may turn out to be a small blessing in disguise, as so far I've had issues with past stalkers being too good for their own good. Maybe the low stat counts might keep her away from future incidents of only finding larger trails Quiet day today thankfully, we can add another successful day without any casualties under the belt! Also had a few level ups, and surpassed a 60% success rate on critter trails! Today officially marks the first day of Autumn. We started off the new season with full bellies and happy wolves. These guys just might finally be getting it in their heads they need to get their act together before Winter sets in. So far we potentially have our very first two day streak of no replacements or incidents on our paws! Our attempt at pushing our first 2 day streak into a 3 day streak was, unfortunately, unsuccessful as Flare lost the scent trail, again on a 95% critter… Our hopes that a lower stat count for stalkers would be a benefit, did not indeed pay off Flares to be replaced by this lad! Ice 2.0! Maybe he'll live up to old Ices reputation! Whoop! 2 weeks in to our little project! To everyone's surprise, Blizzard and Bark are still hangin in there! Little survivors here! But today we also lost Pollen, their fellow chaser. Chat voted her out ( And to start our 3rd week off, we have Hangman! Why is he named hangman? Cause I saw the name in chat and thought it gave me a chuckle lol. But aaaaanyways, he'll be the new chaser, and a nice chaser lean too already Wowee! Another Two day streak in the bag! Lots more hunts under our belts, and Blizzard and Bark hit the level 6 mark! Was tempted to reward them with decors, but all this would do is get me a little more attached to these guys and probably jinx it for the next day again :D Yup, it looks like Ice 2.0 Is indeed keeping up with his namesake. Just like his predecessor, only finding a medium trail this time. And he lost it. Damn it ice! Welp, he only made it 4 days… But here's Grey now. A copy paste of Slate, but unfortunately a romantic, squashed between two stoics. Yup, he most likely wont be here for long These days remain uneventful. The pack having been fed right before winter sets in with what food remains in their hoard, they hope to ride it out until spring. The new guy has yet to embark on his first hunt, both because of the added fear of the 15% hunting reduction for winter, and because its a lunar event, and the obsessed person managing these guys is bouncing everywhere trying to collect lunar BGs and is too lazy to send any hunts out because she doesn't wanna have hunts interfere with her biome bunny-hopping shenanigans. So far the pack remains idle, hoping to ride out the winter for spring. However tensions are rising as hunger is falling. They're getting desperate… Hunger setting in, now in a panic, the hunting party brave the elements, and head out anyways. The feat was futile, as at the last moment, the prey slips away… From Blizzard… Already on the verge of starvation, and in the dead of winter, being driven out of the pack now most likely means death. The others can only hope he makes it out safely… Finding a new recruit however, was easy. Many wolves seeking the protection of a hunting party to hopefully find fairer luck. The new wolf being Lichen. Currently the only aggressive in the party. Mere days away from hunger, the pack is close to falling apart, everyone throwing out threats of leaving. Now the hunters embark on another quest. Now out of pure desperation rather than fear. The hunt was a success! However its short lived, as the tiny carcass is barely enough for a morsel for only part of the hunting party, the bellies of the others, and the packs scout, still empty. The small animal, still not enough, not even for the ones what had a share in the meal; the hunting party are forced out again. And they are met with failure, as Grey, loses the scent, only his third hunt in. With no lack of potential recruits, they have an easy time replacing him with this girl. However, in her overall shyness, this yearling has yet to tell anybody her name (meaning I'm too lazy and uncreative right now to come up with one ) She does quickly show her aptitude very early on though. the entire hunting party left in a fearful shock when she could only turn up a small trail. One at a staggeringly small 45% success rate… The others, terrified that she may be their undoing, have no choice but to follow along. Their begrudging loyalty toward their stalker is well rewarded when, shockingly, they catch the prey! Not only was it a success, the carcass was big enough to keep the entire pack running until spring! The guys can rest easy now, Spring is here! However, their troubles may be far from over. Several hunts in, and the pack now full for the first time in months, This is when trouble arises. Bark, distraught over blizzard being exiled, both of them having been inseparable since the day they both first joined in the starter batch, is starting to cause trouble. She's been having altercations with Lichen, Blizzards replacement. One such fight resulted in the loss of prey, when it was all but a guaranteed success. Despite this, the Wolvden Chat gods have decreed that, even though they caused the trouble, it was hangman who lost the prey. Not only standing by and not intervening, but also allowing the disruption to distract him from his duties. It was at this time we became aware of another issue. Apparently Hangman has found a way to convince our shy newbie that roles are flexible and they are free to change whenever they wish. Hangman sneakily replacing himself as the party stalker, perhaps being jealous of her very promising start and rise in popularity within the group. This was most likely his downfall, the strain of performing in a brand new role while trying to stay inconspicuous leading to an all too easy fail. Today we have claimed Glass to replace him. This time in her proper position as chaser. And the others have given the new girl the nickname Pushover as a joke, but its most likely sticking... I also fear for Bark, her and lichen being the only conflicting personalities with the rest being stoic. Eventually it will come down to one or the other. As we wrap up our story, we have made it over a month in to this little project! All the remaining wolves have been chased, except for bark, as a last remembrance for the adventure this has been! |

So far, some things I would want to change (but wont for now as it would affect the rest of my non-hard mode pack): No talent boosts allowed. Specifically: -mood loss reduced to 5% -hunting success rate bonus -any befriending aid talents -pup survival rate boost Also possible changes of a flat rate of one scout/rescout allowed a day. |

I think I might try it out in the future, (especially if I end up choosing to reroll a new lead), just for fun and out of curiosity. Good luck with your impossible mode project. |
