The sun beat down harshly on the grey wolf's back as he glared up at it. Birds chirped in the scares branches of the mountain trees, annoyingly cheerful. Sun frowned, seeing Toyak laying there, doing nothing. "Apprentice," he said calmly. "This is no time to be lazy. Our food supply is nearly depleted. Come, we should hunt." Fire Pack | Toyak | Fire Pack Territory Toyak jumped and nodded, eyes wide. "Alright, sir," she mumbled, blinking as she followed the lead hunter into the forest. It was a lot cooler under the green canopy, and Toyak yelped in surprise as a bunch of pine needles stabbed her paws. It didn't hurt, it was just surprising. Sun was walking ahead like nothing could hurt him. Or surprise him. Fire Pack | Alibi | Fire Pack Territory, Herbalist's Den Alibi blinked, trying to keep her eyes open. She'd had to stay up all night so that a certain herb would ferment for just the right amount of time. She slowly mixed it into a green goop, pouring a few berries into it to give it a bit of color and flavor. Ugh, heatstroke medicine. It was the most tedious and annoying medicine to make, but it was necessary, especially in summertime. Alibi shook her paws, resting them for a moment before picking up her thick stick and stabbing at the bowl once again. Blossom Pack | Aloe | Blossom Pack Territory "H-hello?" Aloe stammered, peeking into the beta's den. "I- um. I'm sorry about yesterday. I know you were mad at me, so… um, I got you… a rabbit?" He winced at his tone. "I- I mean… I got you a rabbit. Because I couldn't catch anything yesterday. S-sorry about that." Aloe flinched a little, dropping the rabbit's carcass at Cardinal's paws. |

"Wait, Sun!" Apollo said as he saw the lead hunter leaving. He jumped down from his rock and walked towards the large wolf "Patrol the territory before hunting." He ordered Fire Pack| Grace| Fire Pack Camp Grace saw Sun leaving for the hunt "Wait wait wait!" She said while running towards them, almost falling "Can I come too?" She asked the male. Blossom Pack| Cardinal| Blossom Pack Camp| Beta's Den Blossom yanked her paw as the omega dropped the carcass on it "Have you lost your brain!? You dropped that carcass on my PAW! Don't you remember it was injured because of that elk!? Now why are you looking at me like that!? Just go away idiot!" She said as she bit the male's leg really hard |

Aloe winced, cringing away, and nodded. "S-sorry," he stammered, stumbling away. He tried not to show how much his leg hurt. There were deep indents in the skin where Cardinal's teeth had been, but luckily it hadn't broken through the surface. He hadn't been trying to drop it on her legs— in fact, he remembered dropping it on the ground, a bit away from her, since he was scared of getting close. He shook his head. Life wasn't fair, anyway. "Sorry," he mumbled again before he darted away as quickly as he could, laying down under a bit tree and licking his leg. Fire Pack | Sun | Fire Pack Territory "Yes, sir," Sun said gruffly, nodding down at the alpha. "And yes, Grace. You may come." He turned away quickly and headed straight into the forest, sniffing the trees until he reached the edge of Fire Pack's territory. He then turned to patrol the whole circumference of the hilly woodlands. The mountainous territory was large, but Sun knew it well, and climbed briskly over the rugged terrain. Fire Pack | Toyak | Fire Pack Territory "Hey, Grace," Toyak said cheerfully, panting as she pulled herself up into a rock, glancing enviously at Sun's quick bounds. She leaned in closer to whisper mischievously, "Sun's pretty scary. Did you know he killed his own kin for that wolf necklace?" Fire Pack | Sun | Fire Pack Territory Overhearing Toyak's loud whispering, Sun sighed. "Don't spread rumors, Toyak," he grumbled. He wished he could get away from his past— but he couldn't. He had to remember what he'd done so that he wouldn't get so angry again. He had to keep himself sane. And he kept that grey-brown tail around his neck as a reminder. He would not, he would never wield his claws against his own kind ever again. |

Warrior got up and walked towards his mother "Can I go to play with Alibi?" He walked out of the den as Moon said yes. He trotted towards Alibi and sat down beside her "Hi Alibibi!" He giggled as he misspelled her name. Fire Pack| Grace| Fire Pack Territory Grace accidentally slapped Toyak with her tail "Sorry!" She said to the younger wolf and continued on her way "What are we going to hunt after we're done with the patrolling?" She asked the male. Blossom Pack| Cardinal| Blossom Pack Camp| Beta's Den Cardinal growled "Idiot!" She spat |

Sun shrugged. "Whatever we find. Beggars can't be choosers." He sniffed the ground, lifting his paw and shaking some mud off it. He glanced behind him and stopped for a moment to let Toyak catch up. "We're going to have to work on your endurance, Toyak," he told her gruffly, stretching for a moment before bounding up onto a rock to survey their surroundings. "I think that'll do for now." Fire Pack | Toyak | Fire Pack Territory Toyak panted. "Yes, sir," she mumbled, following him. "Do we get to hunt now? Can I find the trail?" Fire Pack | Sun | Fire Pack Territory "Sure, go ahead," Sun said, sitting back and watching as Toyak lifted her snout to the air, tasting the cool wind, then lowered it and began sniffing the ground. Fire Pack | Sun | Fire Pack Camp, Herbalist's Den Alibi blinked and looked down to see the tiny excited pup. "Oh, hey Warrior," she said with a tired smile. "What're you doing over here? Interested in the herbs?" She glanced over at him, then smiled wryly. "Don't eat anything. Some of this stuff is dangerous to eat. And it doesn't taste that great anyway." Blossom Pack | Aloe | Blossom Pack Territory Aloe began to clean the rest of his tufted fur, shivering softly as a cold breeze washed over him. He glanced around. Maybe a tree wasn't the best shelter. He probably should get back to his den. Backing into the hollow log he slept in, Aloe curled up inside and tried to rest. It wasn't the biggest log, but it was big enough for Aloe's small, skinny form. He licked his leg again before closing his eyes. |

Warrior observed the herbs carefully "This is.... bearberry!" He pointed at the red berries "What do these berries do?" He asked the herbalist curiously. Fire Pack| Grace| Fire Pack Territory Grace sniffed the air "We're very close to Blossom Pack's territory." She informed Sun "We should chase the prey in the opposite direction." |

The lead hunter nodded solemnly. "Toyak, try not to scare the prey. Practice your stealth." He followed her as she nodded and lowered her head again, tracking a scent she'd found impressively quickly. This one will grow into a great hunter, Sun thought to himself, eyeing the adolescent. Fire Pack | Alibi | Fire Pack Camp, Herbalist's Den "Good job," Alibi said appraisingly. "Bearberry helps with digestive illnesses like tapeworms and constipation. Of course, they won't work just on their own, so I'm leaving them out to dry for now. Later, I'll crush them and mix them with other herbs to make some tapeworm medicine. They're more common in the summer when the meat rots faster." |

Warrior smiled "Being a herbalist seems interesting but I would still want to become a hunter or maybe a scout or a herbalist.... can I do all those jobs?" He asked. |

Alibi laughed. "Well, I'm sure you'll find what you want to do soon enough. And it's mostly up to your father, so listen to his advice." She patted him, giving him a dandelion and some charcoal, already mixed well enough to make a healing salve within a few more minutes of stirring. "Try mixing those?" She pawed at the drying bundles of herbs lining the walls. "As a herbalist, you'll have to go outside the territory to forage for new herbs and find the ones you need. You get to explore a lot, like a scout, and you'll also get to help keep your pack healthy." She smiled at the little pup. "But you have plenty of time to think about it." |
