The summer months are slowly coming to a close here in the Taiga and the pack can sense fall is growing closer now. With that in mind, they begin to prepare for another winter. They've begun training Ella's pups for their future hunting roles and Ella has even considered gathering another hunting team but the pack remains to see if she'll go through with the idea.

As for the current hunting teams, Team 2 is doing well and slowly catching back up! They've begun hunting medium-sized prey more frequently yet a few of those hunts have gone poorly as Iron has let a few slip away when the hunt was almost done. As for Team 1, they were very successful during the summer and brought many elk and bison carcasses to the pack throughout the months. Unfortunately, their stalker Adasha has retired from her role and has allowed her apprentice Elgadir to take over. It's unclear how well this new stalker will do but hopefully he'll adjust well and Team 1 will remain unaffected.

Pack Researcher Journal

Thank goodness the rest of this summer went without issue. Ella's pups are finally adolescents and are now strong enough to tag along and watch the hunting teams! This is a very exciting time for them and my team and I cannot wait to see what roles these pups take on in the future. We've definitely got high hopes for the pup named Irosylis though since he seems to take after his father when it comes to hunting.

In other news, Team 2 appears to be catching up as we've recorded them hunting medium-sized prey pretty regularly in the Taiga. Unfortunately though, they have failed quite a few hunts when their finisher, Iron, allowed it to slip away. It's clear that the hunting party is not very happy with him as the whole team will be scolded for not bringing back food for the pack.

As for Team 1, they've done well for the majority of this summer! They easily hunted bison and elk throughout the season. However, their stalker Adasha has stepped down and let Elgadir take over. Now this wolf is one my team and I haven't seen yet! He appears to have some sort of piebald mutation that we've never seen on any wolf before! We can only hope that he preforms well as the new stalker so Team 1 can continue bringing in large prey for the colder months of fall and winter.

That's all for now though! I'll write another report when fall rolls around finally.

Autumn // Year 9
5 days of autumn left.

The hot summer air has finally given away to the crisp, refreshing air of autumn. Some of the trees in the Taiga have just started changing colors while the wolves that call this land home have just begun to get their winter coats in preparation for the winter season. However, the pack stubbornly clings to their primary hunting grounds as fall rolls in instead of moving southwest towards their secondary hunting grounds like they would usually do. It seems as if they all still hold on to some hope of their Team 2 hunters finally catching some large prey.

Speaking of Team 2, they still vary on what they hunt as they range from critters to medium sized prey now. However most of the hunters hold on to the hope of catching a caribou carcass before they move away. As for Team 1, they have been struggling as of late. Their new stalker has had a few lucky moments where they located some medium sized prey but they still seem to only hunt critters and small herbivores still. The Alhavenlan Pack seem worried about the success rate of both teams and are rather nervous about this winter.

Pack Researcher Journal

We unfortunately don't have a whole lot of news this time. The pack appears to be stubborn about moving this fall and have instead rooted themselves at their primary hunting grounds. However, there is a nervous buzz in the air whenever the hunting parties return. It almost seems like the pack is worried about how poorly the teams have done as of late and are trying to give their Team 2 hunters some more time before they move south to their southern hunting grounds.

I can't even begin to imagine how the Team 1 hunters are going to lead the pack this time. They still have yet to move on from hunting small game as of late and with this new stalker they are definitely struggling to locate any large prey before winter. The few lucky times they did manage to find a medium sized herbivore was a carcass they had stolen from a bear. They had taken large chunks of it back to the pack for the rest to eat after they had their fill.

But overall, I'm quite nervous for the pack's well-being as we near winter. They had a few close calls at the end of summer, a wolf had even caught mange of all things but it appears to have cleared up by now and the mites didn't seem to spread to any other wolves thankfully. Hopefully these hunting teams will pull themselves together quickly as I fear this winter may get a little rough without a strong team.

I'll make sure to keep a close eye on the pack this fall and write more if anything happens!

Autumn // Year 9
3 days of autumn left.

The crisp autumn air has given way to the harsh winter early this year. Sleet and snow has been a regular occurrence towards the end of this season and the pack has grown nervous as they finally move southward towards their secondary hunting grounds.

As far as hunting goes, the two hunting teams are now in complete disarray. Varogathe has been doing his best to hold Team 2 together but with the introduction of Irosylis and Haleria to Team 2 and Eirlen to Team 1, both have struggled to get any sort of kill as of late. Tensions are high within both hunting teams and the alpha pair are worried about some fights breaking out if the new hunters cannot get along with the older hunting members. It will definitely take a considerable amount of time before either team can return to their previous strength and the pack braces for a harsh winter.

In other news, while Ella was out on patrol she had unfortunately caught ear mites and it remains to see if it will spread or die out with winter arriving soon. For now, Ella has tried to stay a fair distance away from her pack to try and limit the spread of the mites.

Pack Researcher Journal

I have never seen this pack so torn apart. The hunters have been struggling with getting a decent kill since the end of summer and now Ella's pups have joined the teams in an attempt to help but they have unfortunately hindered both Team 1 and Team 2. Their newness to hunting shows clear as day now and I worry that these yearlings were introduced to the hunting teams too early as most of them still retain puppy habits but hopefully Varogathe can shape them into strong hunters after a few more weeks of hunting.

In other news, Ella has finally led the pack southward towards their secondary hunting grounds as winter approaches quickly this year. Unfortunately, she appears to have caught some ear mites while she was locating a den for her next litter. Hopefully these mites will die off as we get closer to winter and before Ella has her next litter of pups.

Additionally, I've gone and updated the map now that the pack's finally finished moving. They've gotten pretty close to our research site so maybe we'll get to see Ella's next litter up close this year! But, I'll write another update once winter hits.

Winter // Year 9
6 days of winter left.

Alpha Ella & Alpha Varogathe

The temperatures here in the Taiga have dropped considerably, snow has become a common sight and has already managed to cover the ground with a fair amount already. The pack however, has been doing alright so far. They're a bit haggard after dealing with an ear mite outbreak but the majority of the pack seems well enough to hunt and go about their business.

In regards to the hunting teams, Team 2 has been doing quite well this winter since the pack moved to the secondary hunting grounds. They've begun hunting there as the treck to the primary hunting grounds is a bit longer this winter and thankfully they've finally brought down a large bull elk! The pack was excited at the news, maybe this was the break Team 2 needed to get back to normal. However, the pack will just have to wait and see if this luck will continue over to the team's main hunting grounds when spring returns.

As for Team 1, they had their fair share of struggles at the end of autumn and now with the beginning of winter they grow nervous about their success rate. They've begun hunting the occasional medium sized prey like blacktail deer but they end up loosing it or a hunter will get injured so they'll have to call the hunt off. Just the other day, one of their chasers named Adashiel had gotten a pretty bad injury on his back left leg. Thankfully though, the wolf made a speedy recovery and has been able to continue hunting with the team.

In other news, the pack was gathered up last night around Ella's new den and were given the news that she was expecting another litter of 4 pups this season. While her den didn't turn out to be the largest since she was reusing an old coyote hole den she's confident that her pups will be safe and well protected within it.

Pack Researcher Journal

This one might be a bit of a long one today! To begin, we're happy to announce that Ella is expecting another litter of pups this winter! Unfortunately, this pregnancy is a bit early for the winter months but we're confident in Ella's motherly abilities to keep her new pups safe and sound. Ella also didn't get the time to dig a fresh den for this litter but thankfully there was an old coyote hole den near where the pack was staying and she appears to be using it for her own litter.

Additionally, the hunting teams have been doing quite alright so far! We've seen Team 2 bring down their first elk, a bull elk of all things! But they're hunting within the pack's secondary hunting grounds this season so it remains to be seen if this luck will continue when the pack returns to the primary hunting grounds early spring. My team and I have our fingers crossed for them though! Maybe this will be what Team 2 needed to get back on their paws!

As for Team 1, they've had quite the struggle recently. They've managed to track and successfully chase down a fair amount of medium sized prey like blacktail deer but they've lost the majority of them due to an unsuccessful killing blow or a hunter sustaining an injury and the team crumbles after that. One of their hunters, Adashiel, had gotten pretty injured in their final hunt during the fall months but he appears to have healed from the minor leg injury thankfully. Hopefully Team 1 will do better now that the snow has arrived but I have my doubts.

As for the ear mites that Ella had caught in late autumn, she appears to be rid of them now but my other teammates suggest that they've spread to where the pack members den during the spring as quite a few wolves who watch over the pups there show signs of the mites. Hopefully those pesky ear mites will remain there, away from the main pack! But that's all for now folks, I'll definitely be writing more when Ella has her pups. Until then, we wish the Alhavenlan Pack the best of luck this winter.

2 days of winter left.

Nerien, Shebrasa, Eshalinev, & Rasha

As winter slowly settles and begins to embrace the renewing rain of spring, the pack welcomes 4 new members to their pack! Ella has had her second litter of pups with Varogathe and has kept them inside her den. Very few wolves got to see them again, much like her first litter but the pack is still buzzing with excitement of the new arrivals.

However, this early morning brought the arrival of an unwanted visitor. Revanas had spotted a cougar while sitting guard outside of Ella's den and quickly alerted the pack of the intruder. Irosylis and Eirlen quickly jumped into action and were the first to deal with the cougar attack before the rest of he pack caught up. Unfortunately, Irosylis took the majority of the hits and now has a scar on his left hind leg. The pack was a bit nervous about letting him hunt today but Ella has allowed him to hunt only if the rest of his team watches him in the off chance the hunting worsens the minor injury.

In other news, hunting in the Coniferous Forest this winter has been good! Team 2 has finally started bringing in more elk carcasses for the pack despite loosing a few every now and then to other competitors. Team 1 on the other hand has managed to locate some elk herds but they have yet to bring down a single elk or even a blacktailed deer. They still appear to be sticking to hunting small prey and critters whenever they loose the scent of larger prey.

Pack Researcher Journal

Brace yourselves folks, this may be a bit of a long one!

To begin, we'd like to announce that Ella has had another litter of four puppies! They made a few surprise appearances outside of the den when Ella appeared to be nervous about something and insisted on moving them to another section of the den that she appears to have added recently. But they all appear to be healthy and mostly black puppies!

Additionally, a few hours after the pack settled down after noticing Ella had given birth. Ella's now adult pup, Revanas, had been on watch before noticing a cougar nearby and was very quick to alert the rest of the pack. Irosylis, Eirlen, and a few others were quick to pick up on the warning and immediately ran to dealt with the intruding cougar. Thankfully the pack managed to chase the cougar off but it looks like Irosylis got injured in the scuffle. He appears to have a minor injury to his left hind leg which will most likely scar once it heals. The pack has been on edge ever since this attack and it looks like the hunting teams have been trying to stick nearby when they go hunting in case something happens.

Speaking of the hunting teams though, both teams have done quite well hunting in the Coniferous Forest this winter! Team 2 has successfully managed to hunt multiple elk all while still loosing a few here and there to other predators but it definitely looks like this team is slowly getting back on their feet. I'll keep a close eye on them when spring arrives since they'll most likely return to hunting in the pack's territory when the caribou return. As for Team 1, they still appear to be struggling. They've located a few elk herds before but they end up loosing it half way through the hunt. They seem to have an easier time hunting smaller prey and critters still and they honestly seem to prefer it over the larger prey now. This is rather new for Team 1 as a whole but hopefully they'll return to their strength after spring!

That appears to be all for now though. I'll attach the litter report in a separate document and I'll write more once spring hits!

The rising temperatures and blossoming flowers announce the arrival of spring in the Taiga. While the majority of the pack has stayed rooted to Ella's current den, the Team 2 hunters have begun to trek northward ahead of the pack to begin hunting in the primary hunting grounds now that the herds have finally returned.

However, they still have a month until the pups are strong enough to join the rest of the pack in this journey. Until then, Team 2 will be left to their own devices for a short span of time until Ella can gather up her small litter of 4. As for Team 1, the pack has been heavily relying on their kills. Team 1 has finally started to hunt down elk however they've managed to be outsmarted by the large prey every now and then. Thankfully when they loose an elk, they'll typically bring back one whitetail deer for the pack to eat before going out to try again.

In other news, the changing of the seasons this year has brought a strong urge to move the pack northward, beyond the safety of the Taiga. Ella has entertained this urge northward however, considering how poorly hunting has been since her previous litter she's decided against it. Perhaps one day, when the hunting teams are doing well enough within their current territory, she'll consider moving northward to the Tundra and beyond.

Pack Researcher Journal

Thankfully, Spring has finally made it to the Taiga and with it the pack prepares to move northward. By the looks of it, the Team 2 hunters have moved northward early on to get a head start on hunting there but the rest of the pack has been staying put in order to keep Ella's small 1 month old puppies safe and well protected. Until they're strong and big enough to make the trek northward it looks like the whole pack will be relying on Team 1 to keep them fed.

Speaking of the hunting teams, Team 1 has been seen hunting Elk more frequently as of late! They've yet bring down an elk in recent weeks but they seem to be working well as a whole yet again! When they're unsuccessful at bringing down an elk they'll typically switch targets to a much smaller whitetail deer to drag back to the pack. As for Team 2, they seem to be having quite the hard time locating the elusive elk and caribou herds. Team 2 has unfortunately went from being formidable hunters in the Coniferous Forest to a bit more than lost puppies in their homeland, the Taiga. However, we all hope that this team can catch an elk before spring's over.

That's it for now though! A bit of a small update this season as it doesn't look like a lot's happening with the pack since Ella's still nursing pups. I'll write more soon though once the pack moves again but I will attach the current map to remind everyone where the majority of the pack is staying for the time being.

As spring progresses, storms now become a common sight here in the Taiga. However, the pack marches onward and moves northward finally after the Team 2 hunters who have already moved to another spring den that Ella likes to use when her pups have become more adventurous. The pups reveled in the brief journey, taking in all the sights and causing mayhem whenever the pack stopped to rest.

As far as the team 2 hunters go, they've managed to locate an elk herd or two but have been unsuccessful when it comes to hunting them. The elk have been rather unbothered by their presence and have managed to scare them off whenever they get too close to the herd's youngsters. Perhaps next spring they'll have an easier time hunting the elk, until then Team 2 has settled for hunting down nearby mule deer and their fawns for both the pack and Ella's young pups as they begin to get a diet for more solid meat.

As for Team 1, they had to travel with the pack and they will most likely stay with the pack as a safety precaution. But they will most likely journey southward to the secondary hunting grounds as they always do every season when the pack's further away from those hunting grounds. This team however has had some success when it comes to hunting elk but they've still be outsmarted or even injured if they end up selecting the wrong target.

Pack Researcher Journal

Looks like Ella's second litter of pups has finally reached 2 months old and with that the pack has finally moved northward to their primary hunting grounds for the rest of this year until next winter comes back around. Also, all four pups look happy and healthy! We even got a few good looks at the pups before the pack moved on, some of the pack even walked up to our makeshift homes and gave them all a curious sniff before scampering off into the forest to the rest of the pack.

In other news, we've been keeping an eye on the Team 2 hunters as they wait for the rest of the pack to catch up and they really haven't had any luck hunting elk still. They've managed to track down a few herds here and there but the elk herds seem to be rather bold this season. They clearly have quite a few calves to protect this spring and clearly they are not buying any of the chaos that the team throws their way. The elk have been quite fearless when the wolves start snarling and snapping at their legs which is astonishing to see! But, maybe next spring team 2 will have better luck. Until then, it seems like they've settled for hunting the mule deer herds that seem to be sticking rather close to where the pack has moved this spring and they've even caught a few fawns for the pups to eat as well.

As for Team 1, they've joined the pack in the move northward and are still hunting regularly within the pack's southern hunting grounds. They've been seen taking on Elk as well and have had a few lucky hunts where they manage to bring one down but otherwise their luck is about the same as Team 2's right now. Again, we hope the hunting will turn for the better this summer.

But that's all for now! Ella's pups are now 2 months old and they'll end up joining to observe the hunting teams in no time I'm sure. These early months always fly by but we cannot wait to see these new youngsters flourish when they're older just like Ella's first litter. But I'll write another update when summer hits! Good luck, Alhavenlan Pack!

6 days of summer left.

Nerien, Shebrasa, Eshalinev, & Rasha

The unbearable heat announces the arrival of summer to the Taiga. The pack clings to the denser parts of the forest in hopes to escape the heat and when it gets too hot, resting in a small stream nearby will certainly help. However, there seems to be an excited buzz in the air surrounding the pack today. Ella had gathered the pack up to announce Irosylis as the next alpha and that he has taken a mate now in honor of his decision to finally step up. However, they cannot have pups until Irosylis is allowed to take over the role.

In other news, Irosylis has been suffering with quite the major injury since the end of spring and it has finally healed! Team 2 will hopefully return to their strength now that their finisher has made a full recovery. Additionally, it looks like another wolf within the pack has fallen ill. Iron, the previous finisher for Team 2, has come down with Heatstroke and isn't looking well. Who knows if the wolf will make it.

As for the hunting teams, Team 1 they've been successfully bringing down a variety of prey as of late. However they've been trying to focus on only hunting medium sized prey and large prey to try and help the pack out a bit more since Irosylis was injured for so long. Team 2 on the other hand has struggled lately but with Irosylis finally healed, they definitely have a shot to turn things around finally. The majority of the prey they found the past few days were all lost by the end of the hunt since Irosylis couldn't keep up with it.

Pack Researcher Journal

Summer is here! Unfortunately, it looks like another rough season for the pack. A member of their pack has fallen ill with Heatstroke and doesn't appear to be doing very well. We're all rather worried for the wolf's wellbeing as he may get chased off due to it. But, we also have some good news! Irosylis, the wolf who was majorly injured in a hunt at the end of spring, has finally made a full recovery! The pack seems to be very happy with this news however they have yet to hunt as of writing this but I'm confident Team 2 will do just fine this season!

As for the Team 1 hunters, they've been doing rather well! They've had to compensate for Team 2 being down for a bit and have really honed in on the Elk herds that live in the Coniferous Forest. Hopefully Team 2 can get back to helping them out before Team 1 tires themselves out trying to hunt enough for the whole pack.

Looks like that's all of the news for now though! I'll write again when summer is coming to an end.

The hot summer nights have begun to cool off significantly as autumn slowly approaches. Yet, the pack remains in high spirits! Hunting has been rather successful as of late and the pack is looking very well off as they all prepare for the colder months. Perhaps this winter won't be too hard on them this time around.

As far as hunting goes, Team 2 has had a few spotty hunts. But, every now and then they'll catch a mule deer and successfully bring it back to the pack. As for Team 1, their strong hunting streak continues! They've continued to bring down multiple elk and bison throughout the season and have no plans of stopping with the colder months. As for Ella's second litter of pups, they have finally started to tag along on hunts and absorb as much knowledge they can get from the senior hunters. The pack expects a few of them to take over hunting in Team 1 as the chasers are looking to leave the pack for new horizons soon.

However, the end of this summer has also brought more illnesses as the nights grow colder. Ella has contracted mange and she can only hope to be rid of these pesky mites before winter comes. The rest of the pack however, braces themselves for another outbreak.

Pack Researcher Journal

Well, this summer has certainly been something! The pack as a whole seem to have high spirits towards the end of this season and seem very hopeful as we approach autumn. We're also very excited to see the pups from Ella's second litter finally tagging along on hunts to start observing and learning the ways from their older siblings. Unfortunately, it does look like Ella has mange now. We're unsure how long this pesky mite will last in the pack but we sincerely hope it will not spread much.

Speaking of hunting, Team 2 has been slowly recovering! It seems like the injury Irosylis sustained was a bit deeper than I expected as he seems to be struggling to catch mule deer lately. But, I can't fault the wolf for much! Those mule deer are insanely fast and they are not the preferred prey for this pack. Team 1 on the other hand has been doing extremely well as we've seen them bring down multiple elk and bison throughout summer! Hopefully they'll keep this up as winter gets closer!

In other news though, we've started construction down here to get a more permanent camp in the far western side of the Alhavenlan territory near the base of the mountains. We plan on taking care of a few wolves we found wandering the wilderness who had some strange mutations like blindness, deafness and the works! Maybe soon we'll have an even larger paddock to take care of even more wolves. That's all for now though, I'll write more when fall is in full swing!
