February Matchmaking Event: Battle / Defeat x enemy quests don't lock you out

Although this event has been wonderful overall, there's been a little disquiet over the quests that require you to defeat a certain enemy. Since finding them is pure RNG, people have been complaining about using multiple energy bars and not encountering a single required enemy. Tbis is frustrating! Especially because you can't do the associated minigame until you complete the quest.

I think a simple solution would be to not hard lock that part of the event out while the quest is in progress - let us keep matchmaking and dating while we look for coyotes to fight!

Because yes it's certainly frustrating, but it's a month long event so everyone should get there eventually if they explore the right places. I understand these limitations give us a goal to work towards, and they can't all be instant gratification. I don't think these quests are bad, they just take time. If people want to complete them Right Now, they can buy guarana. So that's possibly a consious design choice. Lots of grove items like elk hearts and instant birth feathers exist for speeding things up for the tryhards out there.

I don't think the quests themselves are a problem - the problem is we can't enjoy the lovely event features until we finish them... Which depending on sheer luck can take days.

So please consider leaving the event minigames open during the quests! The continuation of the story and more NPCs unlocked can be reward enough.

(Apologies if this suggestion already exists, I searched a few key words and I couldn't find it... but also I have a hard time believing I am the first one to post it)

PLEASE. i have spent so many full energy bars in the prairie, mountains, and desert, and have found exactly zero coyotes. I just want to do the event, but at this rate I wont be able to do any dates at all today! its infuriating - i just spend all day exploring and not doing the event because im unlucky enough to never see any coyotes.

YES PLEASE! Or at least bump the number of drops or something? I don't want instant gratification, but spending the money for GC and then using up 4 energy bars today (deer/musk ox) and the rest yesterday (coyotes) is beyond frustrating. I also can't (shouldn't xD) spend more money on GC.
I wouldn't be so frustrated if I could still do the mini game. =/

I've just started the quest, locked out of matchmaking. I feel it's a nice break. I haven't progressed yet, I missed a muskox due to low level as out of habit I skip low leveled ones quickly but I don't give up. I may feel rewarded with more matchmaking opportunities once I complete the quest.

It would feel kind of unfair towards those who have already spent time and guarana to complete the quest while the remaining players can do matchmaking while questing without restrictions.

Also, I wonder if there are more quests and storylines when more matchmaking is done. If we don't complete the quest before we reach certain amount of matchmaking, wouldn't multiple storylines overlap and generate some new bugs?

Full disclosure I already completed two enemy quests and I wouldn't mind it being changed mid-event, but if that's really a problem for people they could implement this change for next year. I would imagine there is some extra coding involved so this could give them extra time to do it.

Personally I feel when people don't want others who came later to have it "easy" when they had to "tough it out" holds back good and useful progress, because continual improvement is not a bad goal to have!

And I know for a fact that the possibility of additional bugs doesn't deter you LOL, how many bug reports did you submit for groups? Twelve? X)

I've already completed multiple enemy quests as well and expended guarana to complete them… and I would much rather have it changed so we're not soft-locked out of dating and matchmaking, lol! As Zea says - continual improvement is not a bad goal to have. The fact that I've sunk more time or GC into this mini-quest than other players doesn't seem like enough of a good reason to keep a feature that a lot of people are frustrated with! To me, anyway.

I think, also, a large part of it is that it's completely involuntary, and something you can't opt out of once it's started either - I think if the mini games *have* to lock during the quest, for… some reason? then a solution could be the ability to opt in/out at any time.

Shouldn't be that hard to just have the storyline pile up aftear eachother if it's tied to making matches
Wolvden and the sister site already do similiar things without a problem so

I also don't particularly get how an annoying time intensive quest makes future matchmaking sets feel more rewarding, but that's just me
I'd also very much preffer if future players wouldn't need to suffer the same things I did, ergo it becomes more fair in the first place.

I was super annoyed to be locked out of matchmaking for the deer quest, but I was hoping I'd get some applicants for the effort, and was MAJORLY annoyed to receive none and go back to waiting every hour to get one :C

At least for the coyote quest you get a new date-able. We got nothing for the deer quest, which felt like a slap in the face.

That's a good point. I don't think I got another wolf after I finally did the deer quest. A reward would have made it a tiny bit worth it.

@Bark -- yeah, if it was like "ah, during your time away, we've had a swarm of applicants show up!" and it give you like 5, it'd have felt a LOT nicer!
