Suil Alasca: A sleddog roleplay (Character Sheets)
Posted 2023-04-04 11:00:58 (edited)

Súil Alasca,

A roleplay based around the heroic dogs who saved Nome <3
Well- In this case, they may not of saed Nome

January, 1925.

In January 1925 an outbreak of diphtheria threatened to wipeout the town of Nome, Alaska, sparking fears that an epidemic would spread and kill thousands if antitoxin medicine was not supplied. The antitoxin could only be delivered by dogsled across a portion of the Iditarod Trail . A heroic relay of dog teams transported the antitoxin across the 674 mile trail from Nenana to Nome braving gale force winds and whiteout conditions across the remote Alaskan Interior. The life-saving serum was delivered to Nome in a record-breaking 127.5 hours, without a single broken vial. This came to be known as the 1925 Serum Run.

The dogs succeeded, but what if they didn't? This is what this roleplay will be based around (if there is interest in it); What if?

  (random dog pov)
This was a problem, This was a realllly big problem. Everyone was bickering and Zesty was in another quarrel just moments ago, but now she was focused on another, even bigger thing. A roar of fury made us all aware of it; A grizzly bear. It had stormed out of the thick aspen treeline, out into a clearing where we were all at, studying us, figuring out who it would eat first. Then Brutejukk attacked it, but the fight was over swiftly. A hot-headed mongrel who never thought anything through, he made the mistake of stopping, just before he jumped, then the bear grabbed him, he's now lying on the white floor, bleeding to death, and Thermos joined him, also dying. The team was a mad fray, some fighting and yapping. Zesty and Yoda were a screaming, dramatic mess, leaping around, fighting everything, but I had the right idea of fleeing, and everyone followed

(another random dog pov)
I want to go home. I want to be on a nice, warm straw bed eating frozen lamb snacks all day, not snarling and crying, trying to fall asleep forever and wake up from this nightmare. It's been half a week, which I think is 4 days, but i'm not sure, time is a complicated human thing, us dogs up north just say '' four auroras '' and what not. Sumo is dead, he starved. We haven't eaten anything but dead grass, which is utterly disgusting. Only caribou eat grass. Oh, also, Yoda has been acting strange, he's been snarling at everyone, we cant get within ten feet of him without him trying to eat our ears. Zesty went out with him to try and hunt, but they have been gone for so long.

(you guessed it, another random dog pov)
Time was precious. A dog named Spark has just turned up an old doe, and all of us are frantically searching for it, all of us are empty. I'm not surprised Sumo died, he was the biggest of us all, and the hungriest. Zesty and Yoda are still gone, and it's been an entire aurora, or, 20 human hours, I think. Human time is weird.

(Woo, More random dog povs)
We just found the deer, it's dead. Sparky killed it, like the amazing leader he is, he;s so dreamy and handsome, but he;s bleeding pretty badly, and I had to kick snow into it to soothe him. Sparky got his fair share while we were catching up, and now everyone;s a bickering, snarling, snapping pile of fur and teeth. I accidentally got pulled in, and now my ear is torn, which is like, so uncool. While everyone was busy fighting, I got to eat, which is a total win.

Currently:
Someone has assumed the position of ''Top dog''. I don't know who, I'm not around the group much. Everyone has assumed a pecking order based around their skill, a dominance hierarchy. It's quiet healthy, in my opinion, there's been fewer fights, because everyone knows who's dominant over the other. I deal with the herbal stuff, plants are so interesting! They are rare, so i'm always out, so i'm also a bit of a scout? Which is nice! The others just went on a hunt, and me and a guard is all that's left, he's funny, but old.

(Also known as Adder or Seal )
Gender & Pronouns: Sire. He/Him
Age: Three years, 8 Months

Past Rank: Lead Dog

Current Rank: Alpha Male

+ Calculating
  + Natural leader
  + Determined

= Stubborn
=  Picky

- Territorial
- Controlling
- Rebellious

Sealgair  is a natural born leader, he excels in giving command and keeping a level head in trying situations. He carries himself with both elegance and mystique. Sticking to the shadows and whispering rumors amongst the pack to arm his arsenal of information. Spending most of his time plotting his next move; you must know that every step he takes is taken with immense precision. Despite spending most their days dreaming of their, oh so deserved fate, he is in no rush to get there.

Nonetheless he still barks orders to those loyal to him, being at the top of such a fragile hierarchy  leaves little room for intimidation but the dark sire is more than able to assert themself in such situations. He puts on a stern, intimidating face in the pretense of others, and  takes disrespect from no one , seeing himself as a being unlike any other. The brute holds their head high with the confidence of a king, only bowing it to stare at his own reflection. Along with being a bit of a narcissist Sealgair can be quite competitive, he believes everything he wants she deserves seeing competitors as vermin trying to steal from them.

The brute may have a mind full of poisoned power but his voice rasps like warm honey, and his "dreamy" way of speaking can easily inspire others. On the contrary, Sealgair's stubborn nature can make some believe he's intolerant. (which isn't entirely wrong.) Despite having a skill for reading people and situations he has a hard time dealing with her own emotions. Seeing emotions as more of a hassle or weakness he bottles all of emotions up causing him to randomly lash out at others.

  + Loyalty
  + Hunting
  + Quieter Creatures
  - Obnoxiousness
  - Warm Tempatures
  - Commotion

Aspires to be/Dreams (Optional): He wants his pack to succeed. He likes most of them, and would do whatever it takes if it means him and his group will survive. His dream is to have pups in the pack one day, to truly carry on and expand.

Backstory (Minimum 5 Sentences):

Other/Description/Weaknesses-Strengths: A Brobdingnagian dog with a lean, towering structure. A mix of mostly Greenland Dog, chesapeake, Timberwolf, and, Seal has inherited plenty from both breeds. He's tall, he knows that, but also holds muscle magnificently. Their fur is monochrome hue with various greys, blacks, and whites with a wing-like marking over their shoulder blades, similer to the marking a wolf would have. Their fur also has more chesi-Like, having less curls that are mot visible on their chest and lower torso. Ambery, piercing eyes lay upon their face, a small scar bestowed upon their left one. Another scar slashes across their snout.
+ Combat
+Agility
+ Intimidation
- Sensitive to heat
- Social Anxiety
- Partially Deaf

f2u source
Name: Tempo
Gender & Pronouns: Male (he/him)
Age: 2 years 7 months
Stature: Small; lean

Past Rank Swing

Current Rank: Gnaw

+ Companionly
+ Empathetic
+ Gentle
= Obedient
=  Emotional
- Submissive
- Dependent
- Air-headed

Unsurprisingly, Tempo is a clingy wreck. The dog frequently struggles with learning to think for himself. That is, he often depends on the leadership and guidance of others when it comes to making decisions, perhaps making him a disappointment to his bloodline. Tempo struggles to let things go, and not necessarily in a "grudge" sense- he thinks that anyone who shows him kindness is his best friend and is meant to be trusted. He holds onto the most minor of interactions and finds them more meaningful than most. While grateful and adoring in his approach, he's pitifully air-headed and easy to take advantage of.

He's obedient to a fault because of how trusting he is. If you tell him to jump off a cliff, he might just do so...because you know best, right? And you're his friend who would want nothing but good things for him, right? Fortunately, he lacks an ego to get in the way of important business and decisions. Tempo is much more willing to resort to obedience and agreeance than he is to turn to something like, say, arguments and violence. However, he's still quite sensitive, and may not take well to being yelled at when receiving orders. He takes too many things to heart, and as a consequence, sarcasm often flies far over his head.

While he may not be able to stand up for himself (or make his own decisions with confidence), Tempo makes for a solid friend. The competitiveness of sledding can often get overwhelming, so he's always happy to provide his dopey support and empathize with the situation. In fact, he may be a better emotional support than he is a sled dog! Nonetheless, his sled position was suiting of his personality: Tempo is a follower, not a leader.

  + Will ("master")
  + Fireplaces
  + Friendship
  - Disagreements
  - Violence
  - Thunder

Aspires to be/Dreams: Home, with Will

Backstory: Tempo did not originate from Will's stock of sled dogs, in fact, his bloodline begins in a rival kennel. Tempo's mother, Melody, was a lead sled dog of a competing sledder. She'd been bred to a previous racing champion, and her master was waiting with bated breath for her revered litter. However, things got tight, and food became scarce. Having to choose between eating or sledding, Melody's master bitterly sold the pregnant dam to his rival, Will.

However, things were still rough. Melody hadn't been well-fed due to her owner's bout of poverty, and the litter was born very ill. In the end, all of the litter passed beside one: the runt, Tempo. While his bloodline converged to a single pup who should be some great lead in racing, Tempo was anything but what the humans had hoped for. He was fragile, ill, and tiny.

So, unlike most sled dogs, Tempo spent his first year of life inside. He was constantly nursing medical issues from recurrent infections until finally, he was able to grow strong. However, as a consequence of growing up at Will's side, Tempo is...very clingy for a sleddog. While most have an independent streak, Tempo has a bad habit of prioritizing Will and constantly seeking his master's attention and affection. It makes it hard to focus on racing, but he's turned out to be a half-decent sled dog.

He's willing to run if it means being around the master more often, after all.

After the disaster, Tempo was one of the few (if not the only one) who refused to leave his master. He desperately sought out whatever scraps he could get and attempted to bring them back to Will. When the sun fell below the horizon, he was the one to burrow into his master's side in an attempt to keep him warm. However, one dawn, he woke to find that Will was no longer moving. Innocently assuming he was still sleeping and just a little too cold, Tempo continued to remain by his deceased master's side for days. However, after days of no signs of life, Tempo finally accepted reality with a heavy and broken heart.

He submissively followed the faint scent trails of his old sledmates to find their pack. He still regularly slinks off to mourn where Will had passed. Since the great loss, Tempo feels empty. Dog company cannot fill the hole that his master left behind.

Description: Tempo is an Alaskan husky, or in other words, he's a mega mutt bred specifically for racing. He's a sort of red agouti color with thick yet relatively short fur that's soft and cloud-like to the touch. While he has no white spotting, the young dog does come with cream pointing. It's because of this pointing that he is blessed with the most expressive of little "eyebrows" on his face. Physically, he is quite small compared to most sled dogs and relatively scrawny due to his difficult youth. Nonetheless, the little rat is graced with phenomenal speed and agility to make up for the physical brutality that he lacks.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ Speed
+ Agility
+ Cooperativity
- Cowardice
- Highly dependent
- Physically weak

Other: N/A

Name: Crimson
Gender & Pronouns: Female | She/Her
Age (Must be over 2 years six months): 2 Years 8 months

Past Rank Swing/Point Dogs

Current Rank (Check the Allegiance! )
Beta

+ Smart and attentive
  + Fearless
  + Trustworthy
= Stubborn
=  Cocky
- Aggressive
- Territorial
- Fights to kill

Expand on your personality traits here! Does this cause problems? Whats their moral alignment? Preferred in paragraphs.
Crimson likes her space, and respect, she's caused many minor injuries to her pack mates that got to close to his food or her personal bubble. She likes to be in front of everyone but if one of the dogs behind her even so much as touches her tail she'll turn around and bite, this could cause problems. But if she's in the back she starts nipping as the dogs in front of him, and when they're not traveling and they set up camp he will figure out  how to get out of his chain and wander around. Sometimes she steals the others food, when the other dogs used to get into fights with her she'd almost killed every single one, almost euthanized a couple times because of her aggression towards the other dogs.

  + Her space
  + Respect
  + Freedom
  - Lack of space
  -Other dogs
  -Warm spaces

(Optional) Expand on likes and dislikes here if you desire.

Aspires to be/Dreams (Optional):
Crimson dreams to be a mother

Backstory (Minimum 5 Sentences):
Crimson was born at a kill shelter, she yelped as she was taken from her mother. And screaming for her nowhere to be heard, she heard gates open and closed through her muffled closed ears of a newborn puppy, she cried for her mother continuously. She wiggled around, and ended up falling on the floor she yelped in pain as she impacted the floor, she then hears muffled voices of the humans. She feels herself getting picked up and then put down, she crawls around then she feels a gust of wind and it stops she ran into this metal crate with square openings her muzzle fitting perfectly inside of one of the squares, she turned around and crawled only to feel that she was trapped, and hungry. The voices continued until she felt the weird trap she was in lift up, she felt the wind, the breeze of the outside blow into those little square holes she heard a door close and one open and close she got put down and started moving at a fast speed.

Description
Crimson is a large female siberian husky, who has a gingerish brown pelt with cream underbelly and black snout but has white splotches all over due to piebaldism. She has heterochromia, and her right eye is a sharp ice/blue mix, and a hazel left eye her right ear is completely white

Other/Strengths/weaknesses:
Uhhh, When she gets real pissed off with the world she'll escape and hunt rabbits or mice and sometimes birds
Also she has piebaldism

Name: Fawn
Gender & Pronouns: Female - She/Her
Age: 2 1/2 (2 years 6 months)

Past Rank-
Lead Dog

Current Rank-
Beta

+ Energetic
+ Clever
+ Alert
= Playful
= Watchful/cautious
= Patient
- Very curious/nosy
- Forgetful
- Slightly paranoid
Moral alignment: Neutral/Chaotic Good
Fawn loves adventure and the outdoors, and loves running around even more, it runs in her blood. However she tends to conflict herself and her outgoing personality, quite often. If she's alone, or without her master, she tends to become paranoid and hyper-aware of her surroundings. So, while she loves to be free and run in the snow, it's difficult because she worries, because what happens if a wolf decides to attack her master? Or her fellow sled dogs? What if one of the sled dogs turned on them?
Once she's past that, she's pretty much your average playful, energetic, free spirited dog. Except she tends to blank, and forget things, often. The one thing she's never forgotten was her master, and her duty. Thankfully, she's very patient with herself, and with this, she's patient with the other dogs. Her moral alignment leads her to try and do good, no matter what. She believes that if the cause is good enough, then rules can be broken. Unless the alpha has strictly told her no, she'll try to pursue any matters she believes are right.

  + Snow/Cold/Outdoors
  + Smaller dogs/Gnaws
  + Running around
  - Excessive silence
  - Loud noises/jumpscares
  - Small, dark enclosed areas

Aspires to be/Dreams:
Fawn doesn't really know what her dreams are, other then to follow her alpha, and keep her pack alive.
Backstory:
(I'll work on it in the morning, it's 1:30am)
Strengths/weaknesses:
+ Speed
+ Great hearing/perception
- Not good at fighting head-on
- Speaks before thinking, usually regrets it
Other:
Fawn is an utonagan wolf-dog. While normal utonagan's have no wolf blood in them,
she got hers from her mother. There is only a quarter (25%) of wolf DNA in her though.
Height-wise, Fawn actually ends up on the shorter end of the spectrum, at around 25 inches.
