Lore: Gryffon wandered along the well-worn path through the forests as the sun started to descend towards the horizon. He knew the path would take him to the heart of the Blackcreek pack where their alpha, Morrígan would be waiting for him. The ground was soft and mossy beneath his paws as he trotted along, taking in the sights and sounds of the woods around him. As he got closer to the pack dens, he could hear the sounds of wolf pups playing.
After talking with Morrígan, Gryffon settled into his den for the evening. In the morning he would help with pup-sitting before having a session studying with the pack's herbalist, Valkyrie. Then he'd get the chance to join a hunt of a scouting trip with some of the other adults if he wanted to.

Lore: The sun was setting, making the world glow in a nice sea of different colors. There was some red in the sky, some harsh gold, some soft yellow and faint blue all across the sky. There was a soft breeze, making the flowers softly sway. The long, tall grass joined the flowers and moved with the wind. Gryffon trotted along the prairie, feeling at peace. As night fell, Gryffon saw patches of trees in the distance. He decided to walk towards the trees to take some refuge there until morning. When he arrived at the treeline, he stopped to check it out for a few seconds before going in. As he walked through the trees, he heard a twig snap behind him. He turned back and saw nothing. He became uneasy and turned back around. Suddenly, he was face to face with a large male with glowing eyes.
Gryffon was startled and was about to jump back until the male quickly moved towards him and bit the back of his neck. Gryffon growled and tried to turn and bite the male. The male let go of Gryffon and growled loudly. Gryffon took a few steps back, causing the male to lunge towards him. The male managed to scratch the corner of Gryffon's eye and cause bleeding. It was clear that this male knew how to fight; and Gryffon knew he wouldn't be able to win. Gryffon growled and the male lunged towards him again. Before the male can reach him, another wolf rushed between them.
Unknown: "Serein, drop it."
The voice seemed to echo in Gryffon's head and his ears began ringing loudly. The male he was fighting with, Serein, immediately stopped and looked at the wolf sperating them. The two wolves looked at each other and seemed to come to an understanding. Gryffon was confused, but thankful towards the wolf that jumped in. The wolf protecting Gryffon turned to look at him and softly smiled.
Unknown: "What's your name?"
Gryffon was taken aback when he heard the voice in his mind again, but even more taken aback when he saw that the wolf in front of him didn't move his mouth at all. He was speechless for a few seconds before speaking up.
Gryffon: "Gryffon."
Malak: "Nice to meet you. I'm Malak. The male you were fighting with a few seconds ago is Serein, the leader of our pack Sweven."
Gryffon looked over Malak's shoulder and saw Serein staring at him intensely; like if he was waiting for Gryffon to slip up so that he can attack him again. Gryffon looked back at Malak and lowered his head a bit.
Gryffon: "Nice to meet you, too."
Malak turned to look at Serein and gave him a disapproving look. Serein looked annoyed and walked towards Gryffon, walking around Malak.
Serein: "I didn't seriously injure you, did I?"
Gryffon glared at Serein and didn't answer. Serein got frustrated and glared back. Malak could feel the tension and looked at Serein. Serein's ears perked up and he looked at Malak. Gryffon looked at the both of them, confused. Serein seemed to get pissed while Malak remained calm. Serein suddenly began walking away before he stopped and quickly turned to look at Malak. Serein looked shocked and completely furious before he seemed to relax a little and look at Gryffon. Serein sighed and slowly started walking away. Malak turned to look at Gryffon with a smile.
Malak: "Let's get that scratch checked out, Gryffon. Don't mind Serein's bad mood, he doesn't really like the idea of you staying with us. He'll warm up though so don't worry."
Malak gave Gryffon a small wink. They both began following Serein.
Gryffon: "What was that all about though. He got so mad, then he got even more mad and then he seemed to relax? It's almost like you guys were communicating telepathically."
Malak: "We were."
Gryffon looked at Malak and seemed shocked, yet interested. Malak could sense Gryffon's interest and smiled.
Malak: "I'm deaf. I don't understand what others say, nor understand what I say. Yet, at the same time, I'm able to understand perfectly fine. I communicate with others by sort of placing my voice in their head. It's hard to explain, really. If others want to, they can do the same with me."
Gryffon: "Wait, so, basically you can read minds?"
Malak tilted his head a bit, thinking about what to say.
Malak: "Eh, sort of."
Gryffon: "I don't like Serein."
Malak: "Many outsiders say that.."
Gryffon: "Oh wow you heard that."
Malak: "Technically, I didn't hear it. I'm deaf.."
Gryffon: "This is getting really confusing.."
Malak and Gryffon had many conversations. Serein occasionally joined in just to argue with Gryffon. Though, they soon made it to Sweven. A beautiful red and white she-wolf greeted the three and introduced herself.
She-wolf: "Hello, I'm Amaryllis."
Amaryllis gave Gryffon a warm smile. Gryffon smiled back. Malak and Serein greeted Amaryllis, too.
Amaryllis: •I see the male hasn't spotted Aaira, right?•
Serein: •No. It's pathetic, really. If he were alone and Aaira came across him in a bad mood, he'd be gone in an instant..•
Gryffon watched curiously as Amaryllis and Serein seemed to speak in a voiceless language. They seemed to talk with their body. He turned to look at Malak for some guidance and Malak understood.
Malak: "Our pack is surrounded by Deaf culture. Serein is hard of hearing. All our past leaders were either deaf or hard of hearing. It's tradition for a hard of hearing or deaf wolf to lead our pack. Everyone here uses a special language; a language spoken with our bodies. It's sign language."
Gryffon: "Ohh. Well, what did they say?"
Malak: "Oh, they were just talking about how you couldn't spot one of our members following us the entire time."
Gryffon: "What?"
Serein: "One of my betas, Aaira, was following us the entire time."
Gryffon: "Where is she?"
Amaryllis: "Behind you."
Gryffon turned to look behind him. He saw a large, dark she-wolf staring at him intensely. She was stunning, yet very obviously dangerous. Gryffon turned to looked at the other three. For a second, he swore he saw all their eyes glow for a second, their eyes intense and a dangerous aura around them all. The vision only lasted for a second before Malak spoke up.
Malak: "Let's go get that wound checked out, Gryffon."
Gryffon nodded. He looked at the sky and saw the moon was still high. He knew it was going to be an interesting stay at Sweven.

Lore:Gryffon remained in the forest for a little while after his stay at Sweven. He couldn't shake those unusual wolves with their mysterious sign language from his thoughts. He had picked up a little during his stay, but not nearly enough to communicate with. Despite being hard of hearing, they were incredibly quiet themselves. Their stealth alone was intimidating let alone their sheer strength.
The gash on his eye had healed enough that he couldn't feel pain anymore when he blinked, but he knew there was a scar there where his flesh had healed and fur would never grow. He made it a point to be more observant and careful as he trotted through the woods before him.
Gryffon had left at daybreak and it was already dusk above the trees. Streaks of golden orange and yellow painted the sky above the trees.
All was quiet in the woods save for the light dusting of snow that crunched under Gryffon's paws. The winter in the forest was cold and eerily quiet.
A voice broke through the silence suddenly, startling Gryffon.
"Go!"
Gryffon approached cautiously to see a group of five large males running after an elk cow. Three of them ran fast, darting through the trees, nipping at the cow's ankles. Finally, when the three surrounded the cow on all sides, the confused creature stopped. One of the wolves waiting on the sidelines used the opportunity to strike from the cover of the trees and lunged at the cow's throat, knocking the creature to the ground. Life left its body before it even knew what hit it. Merciful, at least, Gryffon thought. He had never seen a team of wolves cooperate so well with one another.
The scent of fresh kill suddenly flooded his nostrils and Gryffon realized just how hungry he was. He looked on enviously as the three chasers and finisher began dragging the cow slowly toward, presumably, their den. Where'd the fifth one go?
"You're a new face. You're a traveler, are you not?" A voice asked from behind him.
Gryffon yelped and spun around, fur bristling. "Y-yes I am," he stuttered.
The wolf before him had bright green eyes that seemed to crackle with intensity. His pelt was silvery with hues of purple and orange on his back broken up by dark stripes. "Sorry about that, didn't mean to startle you. I couldn't help but notice you watching as the others brought down the elk. I'm the team's stalker, Koba. I'm definitely not the strongest of the group, I usually let them take care of the hard part. I just find a scent trail and lead the rest of them to the prey. But I'm quite new, so I'm not the best at it," Koba said with a friendly wag of his tail.
"Well, you were able to find an elk cow in these conditions, I think you should give yourself more credit! I'm Gryffon by the way," he introduced.
"Thank you, Gryffon, though that was just dumb luck. I picked up a scent and was pleasantly surprised it led to such large prey. Good news for the pack," Koba replied happily. "Come back with us, we'll share some of the prey and you can wait out the cold for a few moons in the Starshade Pack."
Gryffon's tail wagged. Unlike some of the wolves at Sweven, these wolves seemed very nice! At least, this one did. "That'd be great, thank you!"
Koba led the way through the trees expertly, though in the darkness Gryffon was finding it hard to even determine what was in front of him. But soon Gryffon found he could see easily. At first he wasn't sure why, but then he saw that Koba's pelt began glowing gently before him. And then Gryffon saw a small furry creature walk out past the two. It's fur had blue glowing dust hovering all around it, seeming to emanate from the creature itself. Other than the glow to its eyes and the glowing fur, it looked to be a normal badger.
"Is that...?" Gryffon began, trailing off.
"A lunar badger. Pretty common around here. He won't bother you if you don't bother him," Koba said nonchalantly. He gave the badger a happy wag of his tail and the badger gave a small bark in reply before scurrying off further into the trees. The blue essence seemed to linger behind him a few moments longer before tapering off, leaving a fading glowing trail in the direction of the badger.
"But how...?" Gryffon questioned.
"We're called the Starshade Pack because our home is in the densest part of the forest. Not even starlight penetrates the leaves of the trees. But this place seems to be interconnected with the lunar world, and sometimes lunar creatures will pass through at night. My pelt glows because of my connection to the pack. Though some wolves glow more than others depending on the lunar connection they're born with," Koba explained.
Gryffon was welcomed into a part of the forest where the trees grew so closely together, their roots overlapped and caused many root systems to be exposed. There were spacious caverns under these root exposures where wolves nested and slept. Gryffon was directed to a den with a few other travelers and some Starshade wolves to stay for the winter. He thanked Koba again and stayed up nearly all night, watching glowing lunar sights before him until finally exhaustion caught up with him and he was lulled to sleep.
He spent his time in the Starshade Pack caring for the pups who each had their own lunar glow. He learned they could tell each other apart by the feel of their lunar essence. Gryffon loved learning from the puppies and playing with them. When it came time to leave, he was a bit sad to go, but he knew he had strong bonds in the Starshade Pack that would keep him tied there if he ever came back. But his thirst for adventure told him it was time to move on and find someplace new. He grabbed a branch with red colored leaves that had fallen on his way out.
I am so sorry, this wound up incredibly long haha.

Lore (optional): Gryffon recognized the scent of the Starshade Pack as soon as he set paw in the expansive deciduous forest. Without hesitation, he made his way to the pack's home at the center of the forest, where the trees grew so densely together, the overlapping roots exposed cozy holes in the ground that the wolves used for their dens. When he arrived, Merida, the Alpha, greeted him delightedly.
"Gryffon, welcome! Good to see you again! There are some new faces here in the pack as you may have guessed, so feel free to mingle and stay as long as you'd like. Once part of Starshade, you're always touched by the lunar energy and you're always welcome back," Merida greeted, bowing her head. Gryffon bowed his and gave a polite lick in greeting and then sat and waited for nightfall. He wanted to observe more of the lunar phenomena he saw before.
Once night fell, he stepped out of his den and just observed the spectral blue glow that coated the forest floor. He recognized a few lunar crossbills flying about, gathering sticks and grasses for their nests in another realm of existence. As he sat and watched, he was eventually joined by a wolf he never had seen before. Gryffon's coat had gained a soft glow, a mark from his previous visit in Starshade territory, but this wolf's coat glowed just as brightly as the lunar creatures themselves.
"I was told that I was lunar-touched ever since I was born. I know it's unusual but I love my spots and glow," the she-wolf remarked, clearly noticing Gryffon staring. "My name is Yoshirou."
"I'm Gryffon, hello. And I like your coat, it's the brightest and coolest I've seen of the pack!" Gryffon remarked cheerily. Yoshirou seemed touched and sat down next to him to watch the lunar creatures go about their night and time seemed to pass slow yet fast.
Before he knew it, it was time for Gryffon to move on to his neck pack and his next adventure.
