Biography
He was born in a no-fur house deep inside a swamp, maybe on the border of the rainforest. He was quickly taken away from his family, as soon as he was able to. He had no other memories of that nest. Though, he does remember the next place. The Deer Hunter Place. He remembered overhearing something about wolves when he was taken over there, muzzled and chained inside of a roaring creature. He was brought out and two tall animals started talking to each other. Two dogs saw him and ran further into a house that was behind one of the no-furs shouting "It's the wolf!" Wolf? No. He knew he was a border collie, that's what he heard. Why wolf? He soon came to realize that he was bigger than the other border collies in the nest. The other collies had somewhat longer fur and some of them had the same markings he did. He was very much the outcast when he lived in the nest. He was kept in another room and all the other dogs ran whenever they saw him coming. He was hoping he's help with the deer hunts, to get a chance to make friends, but he wasn't. He was instead told to fight other dogs, which of course he'd win almost every time. The other dogs were small. Plus, he would be fed when he did win. Though, one night, he was put against a big dog… a wolf? A wolf bigger than him, with sharper teeth and a more vicious snarl. He lost that one. He had been losing some and the last couple of days. He was starting to get hungry. So when he saw something run by the outside of the house, he broke out and ran after it. After a while, the thing ran into the River and he continued to chase until he lost it. He could barely keep his head above the water at this point, so he swam aside to climb up on land. He fell to the ground, tired after the long, but unsuccessful chase. He heard something. Was it a bird? No, it sounded like crack. He looked around at the trees, trying to spot what it was. Another sound… a howl. Wolves were nearby. He crouched by the River, trying not to be seen. Then a shape appeared, everything was silent for heartbeats that felt like days. "Oh! Hello, I barely saw you there." The shape came closer and appeared to be a red… wolf. It was a wolf! "Don't eat me!" He barked as he tried to jump back into the water, but his paws were failing him. "Woah! You don't need to drown!" He felt himself being pulled out just when his head fell below the water. "Who are you?" The red wolf asked
"I should ask you that first."
"True, true. I am Mirrored Wolf. I am from the Shrouded Pack." The wolf lowered his head. So he was not aggressive, huh?
"Alright… I'm Bongo."
"Bongo?" Mirrored Wolf stifled a laugh "That doesn't sound like a wolf name."
"Because I'm not a wolf! I'm a dog!"
"Dog? Wha- oh! You must mean a no-fur wolf!"
"Uhhhh… that is?
"That's what I think a dog is. No-fur wolves usually call themselves that."
"Uh… alright." Bongo said as he sat down. This wolf seemed friendly, surely he could rest while not being attacked? "You seem tired. What happened? Aren't no-fur wolves supposed to be cared for?"
"Oh, uh, I ran away. I saw something, but it ran into the water. I'm still starving." He rested his chin on his paws and stared at the ground. Mirrored Wolf looked at him for a couple heartbeats and then looked north as if think about something further away. "I could bring you to my pack," The red wolf spoke, "Are you strong enough?" Bongo slowly shook his head and rested his chin on his paws again. "Oh, alright." Mirrored Wolf smiled at him. "I don't want you to die, so I'll just wait for you to be ready." The red wolf lied down next to him and closed his eyes. Bongo noticed how the dark red fur quickly became soaked with mud on one side as Mirrored Wolf slowly leaned against him. He didn't argue, he needed warmth. He liked this wolf, kind, talkative, caring. Soon enough, Bongo was ready and he was brought to the "Shrouded Pack" Mirrored Wolf spoke of.
One day, out on a hunt, Bongo's hunting party found a large deer. I was chasing it towards Todd when another hunting party appeared. One of another pack. They were the biggest wolves he had ever seen. "Oh, hi! Thanks for the help, we really need it. This deer is so bi-" He didn't get to finish his sentence before the largest wolf knocked him away. He regained his footing to see that the other party had already killed the deer. They were already discussing how to get it pack to their pack. They had already taken the prey that would be his pack's. Bongo took a step forward, but Mirrored Wolf intercepted him.
"No, we are outnumbered and they are waaaaay stronger. We can't overpower them, you can't overpower them."
Bongo scowled at Mirrored Wolf. That was THEIR deer, THEIR food. "It's fine. I've fought wolves before and never died." Even if I've lost he finished in it head.
"Still I don't think- BONGO!"
He was running towards the other hunting party. He would win this time. He would win for the family that took him in and protected him and fed him and cared for him. He would win for those who did everything no one else did. He would win. He bit the first wolf, great start. They bit back, missed. He lunged at the biggest wolf. If he killed them, the others would back off. He was knocked back. He looked back at his hunting party. Mirrored Wolf was being held back by the others. They weren't helping. That's fine. He's fought alone before. He would win. He turned back.
He fought like he never did before. He had more energy after all. Still, he thought he'd be hurt at this point. Then he saw it. Brown fur amongst the crowd. And a small moss pup… Mirrored Wolf had joined. He was in trouble. Bongo rushed forward and sunk his teeth into the side of one of the other wolves. Now he would DEFINITELY win. Mirrored Wolf was hurt. He could not lose. He got Mirrored Wolf away… but then…
. Thud
He fell. He felt pain. He had felt pain before. He would get up and continue and win. But… he couldn't moved that well. He was able to raise his head and he saw it…. The blood. Too much blood. Pouring from his side. He spotted the wolves in the distance carrying the deer away. His hunting party was beside him. He saw them all, they looked so sad. He didn't win. It was his fault.
"I'm sorry. I lost."
Mirrored Wolf spoke. In the sweet voice he always had. It sounded good. "It's okay. You don't need to win. That isn't your job anymore."
He felt Mirrored Wolf's fur brush against his. He felt tired. He felt pain. It was starting to fade though. But he felt the wolves beside him. And it was okay. It was all okay. He had lost and that was okay. He didn't need to win. That wasn't his job anymore.
His job was to be with his family. And there he was.
