Ice Runner

Ice Runner is a very confident wolf who got her name by running and sliding on the ice in her snowy home. When she came old enough to leave the pack, she came across a black wolf. At first, she was cautious, but the wolf said that she was safe, and she helped all the new wolves. Ice Runner lightened up and the wolf showed her around the different lands. She decided she wanted something different and wanted to live in the deciduous forest. The black wolf helped her with a make-shift camp and explained to her that help was a very useful thing, and that Ice Runner should find a wolf to add to her pack. Ice Runner explored the territory and eventually came across a wolf who she learned was Hidden Shade. She welcomed the wolf as a friend and brought her back to the camp. Later on, when her pack had just a few mor numbers, she learned that Hidden Shade had been an assassin. Although knowing that she should not let stories decide her actions, she became suspicious of Hidden Shade and welcomed Quiet Paws as another scout to make sure that Hidden Shade was not doing anything that would endanger the pack. Ice Runner has become a well-respected leader who had made many great decisions for her pack and hopes that her pack will grow.
Now, both Shining Star and Ash Tree were gone. What was happening? Why had her pup disappeared right before she was about to get her pack name. She had been thinking about it for a long time. Ash Tree would be named Bird Biter, but now where was she. Scouts were sent out, hunters were to report anything weird, but there was not a single sign of Shining Star or Ash Tree. Well, they knew Shining Star went back to his friends. But Ash Tree? There was no sign or reason. Why? How?
One day, Quiet Paws came back with a jay feather. It looked like any other feather, but… the scent. It was faint, but she could definitely smell Ash Tree's scent on it. It was Ash Tree's feather, the one Ice Runner had given to her to signify she was the pack leader's daughter. Why would she leave it behind? She took the feather from Quiet Paws and promised to herself that she would keep it, if not to one day return it to Ash Tree, then to remember her lost daughter.

January 8, 2023 was the night she lost another one of her daughters. Waning Moon managed to find her way out of the clearing… and was attacked by an alligator. All the wolves in the pack stayed in the clearing for the rest of that night and day to mourn the loss of Waning Moon. Wolves that lived in the mountains and prairies could hear the sad howls of the Shrouded Pack.

When it was time to choose the heir, Hidden Shade questioned Ice Runner's choice. She knew that Poisoning Ivy was Ice Runner's daughter, but they named her that for a reason. She wasn't like the other wolves. She didn't care about others getting hurt and was often very mean, even to her own sister. Ice Runner ignored her objection, stating that this is what Cali, her mate, would have wanted. Hidden Shade knew, though, that Cali was the one who taught Poisoning Ivy to be this way and she knew that hard times for the pack would arise.
