Pupsitter: Snowswirl
Goldensong was a humble little girl who had a fascination with the natural world. She loved the plants and animals, the creek, the meadow, and everything outdoors. The controlled environment of the dens was her home, but she would take any opportunity to slip out and run around among the trees of the Taiga forest. Even her sharp-eyed pupsitter Snowswirl had a hard time keeping track of her. Her elders joked that she wouldn't be so fond of nature if she ran into a cougar or some other danger. Her mother Peachflower didn't think that was very funny and asked everyone to help watch Golden and keep her out of trouble. Peach also tried explaining the risks of wandering alone to Golden herself, but didn't get much more than giggles in return. In desperation, Peach prayed to the legendary pupsitter Greywing "Lionsbane" to help protect her wayward pup.
At the Academy, Golden was assigned to study wisdom, speed, and strength to improve her weakest stats. She was a very good student and worked hard at all her lessons, especially ones that included going outside and interacting with nature. When it came to bird watching or pathfinding, she earned top marks in her class. But other lessons bored her and her elders noticed. The pupsitters recommended her for a scout role, which didn't surprise her mother one bit. Peach was very proud of her girl and told everyone who would listen how good a scout she would be. Golden herself wondered if that was really the right path for her, if she was really good enough. But she trusted her elders, especially her mother, and decided to give it a try.
During her apprenticeship, Golden's love of nature was on full display as she trekked up and down the lands with her mother. Every new biome she entered was like opening a treasure box full of amazing things to explore. Peach encouraged her to pay attention to other wolves too, with limited success. When Golden made the effort to talk to members of other packs, she mostly asked them questions about the local flora and fauna, trying to learn all she could about their environment. Even dangerous animals, like cougars and venomous snakes, held fascination for her. Peach believed that ancestor Greywing was keeping Golden safe, due to her continued prayers, but other pack members insisted that Golden was just lucky and someday that luck would run out if she didn't learn to be more careful.
On her first birthday, Golden dabbed some healing salve on a fresh snake bite and went over to the Grand Den, determined to enjoy the party. Some of her packmates noticed her injury and teased her. But Golden was too self-satisfied to be bothered. She had survived and would be a real scout tomorrow.
Now as an adult, Golden still loves to discover all she can about nature. But she's learned to be more cautious as she's grown older and doesn't return with injuries as often as she used to. Her sister Herbalist Duskflame is very happy about that, but still teases her on occasion, as do most of her packmates. Golden's history of risk-taking has paid dividends though. No one is more knowledgeable about plants and animals than Golden. If someone finds an unfamiliar plant or sees an animal acting strangely, Golden is quick to offer a satisfying explanation. Her packmates know to be careful about what they ask her, however, because she can go on and on all day about what she knows, especially after a fermented barley.
