Tempest is the first member of the Cyclone Pack, having been rescued by the German Shepherd Shasta from a storm that would have otherwise washed him away. After being led to safety, he jokingly mentioned that 'Pathfinder' be a much better name for her, since she had found the path that had gotten them out of the scary situation. She had taken to the name immediately.
Tempest swore his loyalty to Pathfinder, and has been serving as her Second since then. He found himself falling in love with the German Shepherd, but when it became clear to him she didn't share his feelings, he pushed them aside: promising himself he wouldn't let the heartache affect the friendship with her that he held so dear.
Overall, Tempest is known best by his levelheadedness and optimism during any situation, though is criticized by some for his blind loyalty to Pathfinder, even through some of her more questionable decisions.
