Biography
Born in Heiður's Keep on a dark foggy night in spring during a new moon, 9SE.
Name means "island goddess" in Icelandic.
Eydís's moonsign is Virgo.
Her parents were so proud of her when she became a Kynsguard tracker, they gifted her a bone & fang adornment. These were blessed for good luck in all future hunts.
Queen Lyconia's half-sister.
As a pup, claimed she had a friend named Barg, whom nobody else could see. Nessa of Pannaðr & Irkutsk of Vaarkhin are both convinced Eydís has psychic abilities. Be that as it may, Eydís no longer has an "imaginary friend", though it appears she has absorbed some of the Barg's essence...
Became a Kynsguard tracker in the spring of 10SE, taking the place of her father. This event changed her personality from independent to selfish, and her eyes transformed from gray to moonshine.
Was discharged from the Kynsguard in the autumn of 11SE, for breaking an oath, and re-located to the Lowlands.
Set up The Auxilliary Patrol in the winter of 11SE.
Bonded to Vindhalt in the summer of 11SE.
Yet another Skarn legend.
In the summer of 10SE, not one moon after reaching adulthood and joining the prestigious Kynsguard, Eydís had broken an important oath - unbeknownst to her packmates. After a successful hunt in the fjord, Eydís separated from the hunting pack to meet with Altal, a powerful wolf from a pack in the tundra plains. She had heard of Altal's reputation, and initially wanted only to wrestle with her, as a way to use up excessive energy and to scratch the itch for danger. Inevitably, due to her youth and inexperience, Eydís had crossed the line with the vulgar Altal.
Returning to her pack, Eydís was satisfied and sufficiently calmed, flushed even. What she did not know, however, was that she was pregnant. This would have grave implications for her future as a member of the Kynsguard.
After the birth of her pups, the secret was out. Some members of the Kynsguard and the noble clans called for Eydís' complete expulsion from the pack, or some other harsh punishment, but King Kyllikke decided to simply discharge Eydís from her Kynsguard duties. In a moot it was decided Eydís would be allowed to stay in the pack, but forbidden from returning home to her family.
Eydís was disgraced and angry, though her parents supported her and encouraged her to do what she could to earn back the pack's trust and regain her honour as a capable hunter and ally.
Meanwhile, her little brother Rinnan would grow up to take her place as a Kynsguard tracker, in clan Varngaard's effort to repair the damage to their reputation caused by Eydís.
A few months after moving to the Lowlands, overturned the former hunting pack and established The Auxilliary Patrol, in the winter of 11SE. Although Eydís had an opportunity to use the wolves of the Lowlands in a revolt against The Kynsguard who expelled from Inner Yliaster, she instead decided to create her own version of the Kynsguard in the form of The Auxilliary Patrol, in an effort to prove herself to her kin as well as to show that strict laws are not necessary to maintain order and excellence within hunting ranks. The Kynsguard chose not to acknowledge her efforts, especially after it was made clear Eydís was not plotting anything against them. As expected, Eydís's father Gyrdd vocally supported her new leadership position. Other wolves in the Lowlands were not so happy to see a wolf from the noble Varngaard clan coming in to overrule them. Several wolves protested against this change and when they realized their growls fell on deaf ears, decided to abandon Yliaster altogether and moved on.
In her older age, Eydís became more power-hungry and controlling of Auxillary Patrol, abusing her status as the first General and founder. Although the strength and excellence she had managed to foster in her hunting pack rivalled that of the Kynsguard themselves, she began installing her own children in the Auxilliaries, in favour of other - better - young candidates. Eyebrows were raised when her son Rout, whom she famously did not even like, had become a chaser within the ranks. No one dared to question it, though, especially since Rout was capable and mild-mannered and did not lower the quality of hunting success. However, once it was announced that Eydís's youngest pup, Gyrdd II, was being raised to replace Yliaster's strongest hunter Solitude, the news reached the ears of the Queen & King themselves. Solitude had recently given birth to three pups, one of whom she had hoped would succeed her as a hunter, but Eydís would not allow this. There were rumours that the Auxilliary Patrol was in danger of mutiny - or worse - dissolution. Yliaster had already lost a considerable number of wildkyn, as some of their own hunters had vanished mysteriously. Moreover, Eydís was aging, and it soon she herself would have to be replaced - but by whom?
In the autumn of that year, a meeting was called between General Eydís and her squad, as well as the Kynsguard, the King & Queen and mediator Quellon Elk-Heel. It was made clear to General Eydís that her actions and the decisions of the pack would decide the fate of all... Will Eydís find a way to maintain power and prestige in the hunting pack she founded? Or will the Oathbreaker be ousted, and the Auxilliary Patrol turned into an extention of the Kynsguard?
Puppyhood:
Main pupsitters: Sister Burmecia and Brother Fólki
During the lesson: Eydís did perfectly while she was paired with her best buddy (Étgudach). Things changed when Kyllikke Ava'al asked her to work with another pup and step out of her comfort zone (Quellon).
During the lesson: With the carcass (dead fish) tied to a straw string, Brother Boar pulled it to simulate prey movement. Eydís stalked and pounced on the "prey" successfully, and began to tear it apart before she was scolded to be more precise and not let food go to waste.
During the lesson: Nessa showed Eydís how to properly put herbs together to make a medicine, and how much of each. Eydís copied Nessa while she explained what each herb is good for when combined with another.
