Firewood JR looks excited to see you and asks if you're free for a chat. You're busy right now, but maybe later.
Nothing brings two wolves together more than an unexpected gift. Firewood JR happily drops something at your paws, greeting you with a short, friendly lick.

Burning (Firewood) JR: The Kindling of the Galactic Ones
This little pup was the first one alpha Cherry Root found when she visited the enclave to complete a quest. The pup bared a strong resemblance to her cousin, Firewood, so she decided to adopt him. Because she was single, she had to ask the Bronze twins, Helena and Heather, to adopt him for her. Although Cherry Root was embarrassed to ask, they happily agreed to adopt the pup. They've adopted quite a few before, as well as nursed their own pups. They weren't first time mothers unlike Cherry who's never had pups yet, so they were the best wolves to ask.
Once back home in the cedar tree forest, Cherry introduced him to the pack members that were currently there. Firewood was out hunting with his team, so they wouldn't be back for a few days. In the meantime, Cherry Root decided to give him a name. It was important he received one so everyone knew what to call him by. The ducat alpha decided to name him Burning, after her lineage of wolves with fire themed names and fiery pelts.
When Firewood came home with his team, they were greeted by the bronze twins who showed off Burning to the group. Burning was pretty shy so he didn't say much at first. His pelt did all the talking for him, and Firewood fell in love instantly. The team began flooding the pup with compliments. Firewood even remarked how he was almost as handsome as he was, which earned some teasing from his hunting party.
Whenever Firewood returned from hunts, he would feed Burning the finest pieces from the carcass. At night when Fire found the time, he'd craft decorations for Burning. He gave his little look-alike an arnica flower crown and an owl talon necklace; decorations that he also adorned. Firewood even went so far as to call Burning "Firewood JR" which earned him snide remarks from his pack members. Burning wasn't entirely sure how to feel about the smothering. Helena and Heather gave him enough affection as is, and Firewood constantly showering him with gifts made him feel a bit overwhelmed. After going through another day of Firewood's smothering, Burning finally talked to his older look-alike about it.
"I'm sorry. I didn't know.." Firewood let out a small whimper, a guilty look on his face as he looked down at JR. "I know you mean well, but I just don't like getting all these gifts- and so often too!" JR yipped, pushing forward his most recent gift from Firewood. "You can still treat me like a little bro without all the gifts." He sighed, and Firewood nodded. "I'll stop with the gifts then. Don't want to be that one annoying big brother." The hunter smiled, giving the pup a small pat on the head with a slight tail wag. Burning smiled as well, and the two left the burrow they were in.
"How does a hunting lesson from yours truly sound?" Fire asked, and Burning looked up at him with eager eyes. "Really?! I'd love to!" He exclaimed, his little tail wagging with fury. "Great! I'll teach you all I know so you become the best hunter ever!" Fire barked in response to his little brother's excitement. The two began walking off into the open fields, leaving behind the cedar tree forest they lived in.
Though it's barely been two weeks since Burning arrived at the Galactic Ones, he already feels fully part of the pack.
JR would go on to befriend the friends and sister of his older look-alike. Those wolves being: Volcano, Regulus, Landslide, href="https://www.wolvden.com/dynasty/wolf/1025765">Kumo and Nyx. Although their personalities clashed at times, the group was tightnit and they all got along well. They would even hunt bison and musk ox together back in their prime.
War and Death
Since the age of four or five, Burning's life began its descendance into turmoil. Alpha Cherry Root's first and only litter suffered two losses. Same thing with Queen Daybreak's litter. Both of the pack's leaders had lost their children to the prophecy that the pack's herbalist had announced. The one that was missing the most of themself was Cherry Root's son, Akira.
That hellish spawn from the alpha who brought Burning into the pack was single handedly destorying it from the inside out. Akira, who renamed himself to Akuma, killed two elderly sacrifices who opposed his position of the pack's king. He also exiled a group of four who spoke out against the king. Not only that, but he killed almost all of the pack's pups. It didn't matter if they were born in or arrived at the pack before and even a few days after he became king. It was a horrible sight that stained the pack's home and history. It was even more sickening to Burning that the king had two loyal followers at the time who prevented any wolves from stopping Akuma during his purge. Even if they never actually killed any wolves during the purge, Burning still hated them.
It was late December, and only two weeks had passed since the purge of King Akuma. Striker and Verdant were the only two pups- well, adolescents, that Burning could name that survived the purge. Azalea, the pack's prophet and current herbalist, was the one who vouched for both young males, allowing them to live. Striker was especially lucky because he nearly killed the king before the king could kill him.
Burning, despite not getting much recognition from the king at the time, also stepped forward to ask Akuma to spare them. Burning had helped both young males fit in with the pack, as they were outsiders like Burning himself. The king begrudgingly let them live, but put the two under intensive training. That was especially because the younger of the two had almost ripped out the king's throat in self defense. It was more like a display of false bravery to JR, however.
After the king had laid down his rules, that is when things took a drastic turn in the pack. Burning alongside a younger, brighter coated male were forced to fight against the wolves of the surrounding packs in the grasslands. It was because the king forced them to hunt only in their homelands, which meant less food for their pack of over 60 adults. This sparked disputes on the territories of other packs, which quickly went into a full on war against at least 7 other packs. It was certainly a hellish winter for the Galactic Ones. Pups were being slaughtered and pack alphas were assassinated primarily by Burning and the king's newest guard, Bleached. Burning couldn't blame the younger male for what he was forced to do, but the fact that he had the chance to run away yet chose to fight pointless battles always bothered Burning.
Despite the harsh times the pack faced throughout the first winter of king Akuma's reign, JR was able to find companionship and gain pleasant memories from friends he made, and the friend he had. Burning, alongside his newfound friend, Bleached, were marked by king Akuma for their hard work in driving out the nearby packs. The king cut an 'X' on the pale coated male's shoulder, while Burning had an 'X' on his right eye. His 'X' symbolized his keen and obvservance, while his friend's 'X' symbolized his strength and speed. Probably because of how quick he was to kill his targets in the pack wars thanks to his fur blending in perfectly with the snowy landscape.
The two were officially recognized as high class wolves, and promoted to guards of the king. Akuma made it sound like an honor role to become the king's guard, but Burning and Bleached hated the king with their guts. They couldn't refuse the offer, however. Bleach had warned Burning that they might be as good as dead if they refuse, so they agreed despite the dismay and contempt they felt towards king Akuma.
Love and Loss
It had almost been a full year since king Akuma took over the pack. Things never really got any better for the pack, as famine grew worse despite the king being generous enough to expand their hunting lands to two more biomes. A lot of the food was being hoarded by the king, however. Hunters were constantly being sent back out as soon as they brought whatever prey they could to the pack. Even if Burning and five other "lucky" wolves were ranked as high class wolves, the piles of prey he got to eat for his rank was mostly given to the starving elders. Why not the pups? Well the king was doing a good job of fattening them up himself, seeing as they were his children after all.
Throughout the new year, Burning had been overworking himself to keep his pack safe. He rarely had any time to actually sit back and relax with his friends. Still, he managed to find time inbetween his gruelling hunting schedule to hang out with Bleached, Subzero and. Burning would especially spend his time with pale blue elder. Kumo was the last friend he had from his previous friend group of six, and he grew a close attachment to her ever since the rest of their friends passed away from old age. "That's the price you pay for hanging around older people you like," Burning would Subzero. It was an ache in the heart that JR knew all too well. Soon, that ache would turn into something way worse.
Nestled inside the Elder's Burrow in the pack's heart, Burning rested against Kumo with his head on her side. It was a cold winter noon, and Burning had just woken up after an unpleasant dream. When he got up and crawled out of the burrow, he only then realized that Kumo's body was cold. When he turned back to the entrance to look at her, she gave him a shallow stare in return.
Kumo was dead.
Burning sat by Kumo's grave in the pack's burial site- the oak tree forest just a few miles North. He wasn't left alone to mourn the loss of his friend, however. He was with there with Kumo's adult twins, and the young daughter she left behind. His expression was saddened, but he didn't shed any tears. Not when he first saw her lifeless stare, or after hearing the cries and wails of her children beside him. In fact, all he could do was sit there in complete silence until night came. It was definitely a dark and gloomy December for him and Kumo's family.
Burning tried his best to hunt in the winter, but a lot of his hunts ended in failure. As the team's finisher, he was getting sloppy at his job and letting the prey get away. His movements were getting more sluggish and he was turning a bit more aggressive. Was it the insomnia he had? Maybe the fatigue he faced? Whatever it was, it worried both his team and his friends. JR was visibly getting more slender too. His winter coat didn't hide his slender frame too well, but many of the pack just thought his fatigue was due to his age. His silver dusted snout and specks of silver fur on his paws were a clear sign he was getting old. Burning had turned 6 years old a few months ago, so it wasn't that big of a surprise.
The king didn't care about what was wrong with Burning. He only cared about the fact that he wasn't catching enough prey for the pack, even though the pack had two other hunting parties that did just fine. In fact, the king would often yell at Burning whenever he didn't return with prey. All his anger was directed towards him and not the other members of Burning's party. All the shouting, the disappointment from his peers, and the haunting image of Kumo eventually became too much for him to handle by the time it was mid January.
He was sent further into a depressed state, to the point where he just refused to leave the elder's den. Burning was glued to Kumo's old nest and had to be given water by his friends just so he wouldn't succumb to dehydration. His body, however, was slowly eating itself away as JR had stopped eating entirely just a little over a month ago.
When spring finally came, burning was dead.
