Mercy wept at his pup's side, nudging her with his nose gently every so often just to make sure she was really gone, despite it being so obvious it was making the rest of the pack uncomfortable. Serb had tried comforting him, but it was his own fault Merry had died; he wasn't watching her, too distracted with her brother Borgia at the time.

Marco had come by after one of his scouting patrols, shaken and distressed. He couldn't tell it was Merry by appearance but her scent was on that poor little body mangled beyond recognition, laid before the entrance to a bear cave. 

The loss of Merry in the beginning stages of the packs development was a heavy blow.
