Lore-
Abalone was born to the den mother Peony, with a father in a far away pack nested in the prairie. When he was born, no wolf expected the magnificence of the patterns and hues he'd be blessed with.
Each strand of his fur had been dipped with lunar magic, and after many seasons of the pack going without a lunar envoy, it was time for a new one to be appointed. When Abalone reached adolescence, it became clear to him what his future would look like, and the experiences he would have with becoming a pack Druid. He was enamoured with the things he would learn, and what he would represent, and so he made it a priority to try and learn what he could, many of which would have to be learnt from the discoveries made by the last envoy, Shiloh. Abalone became a very intuitive and opportunistic individual, focused on learning what he could on his own, although he was not distant by any means. Many of his travels and discoveries would be made by himself, but he was eager to have this knowledge shared, and stories be spread within the pack. Soon, he was proudly following in Shiloh's pawsteps.
Shiloh's dreamland theories-
Shiloh's dreamland theories-
Shiloh believes the dreamlands work strictly on the moons raw power, navigating off its phases and positions. This is why it only appears without the influence of the sun. He feels the essence and magick is stronger during eclipses, full moons and retrogrades, and dimmer during the new moons, the wanings and the waxings.
He believes any creature can withhold or collect its power simply by using its essence. Objects like lunar oil, essence covered items, glowing spores, growth chunks, body parts of lunar creatures, it is all pouring with the raw power of the moon. By using these things, you can wield its power. This being said, the longer you stay here, the more you become a part of it, your fur gaining all the blue tinge that blankets the land.
Because these lands are also non reachable by physical means, they are like a lucid vision. Only obtainable through falling asleep under the moons influence, and waking up in this other realm where the moons power is completely raw and untouched, thus meaning using its raw power is possible to any creature in this land.
This might explain, why the blood and behaviour of these animals still remains to be the same as in the physical world. Shiloh has eaten the glowing tongue of one of these lunar critters, and the blood was normal and red, not filled with lunar essence. Perhaps this indicates that lunar magic only effects the outside anatomy of animals and abilities, but does not change its born nature and DNA, which makes sense if it is but a dream realm.
Shiloh has discovered "growth" animals that roam the dreamlands. These particular creatures seem to have a large amount of lunar essence compared to others, with various lunar plants growing from their bodies. It looks like the plants feed off of the essence, therefore sprouting right from the surface. From closer inspection, you may find the roots of these plants to actually be ingrained deep inside the inner body, instead of the outside. Although the inner parts are the same, the essence makes it so the roots grow from the inside, perhaps obtaining nutrients from the internal liquids? If not, it must be essence, even though most animal's inner parts seem untouched by lunar affects.
Shiloh observes the plants and trees of the dreamlands closer, discovering they purely thrive on the glow of the moon, wilting quickly in the sunlight. This might suggest that anything that has originated from the dreamlands, looses a lot of energy and power from being exposed to the sun, they require the lunar essence to survive. This might be more true with lunar plants, where as lunar animals might not die, but simply be weakened. Shiloh believes the lunar essence acts almost like pollen to plants, feeding them and keeping them thriving, the plants seem to glow stronger when the moon is more powerful, probably making the lunar essence stronger as well.
Shiloh discovers a very common plant in the dreamlands, called Moonwart. Thriving the most off lunar essence.
Shiloh has come closer to observing all the creatures of the dreamlands, and has discovered by closer inspection, there are three main species that wander through the realm. Cnitharian creatures, are peaceful and civil-like, they are like the villagers of this land, the merchants, the traders, the guides. You will find them all across the land, going about their business. They have jelly like tendrils and pulsating accents, and flexible veils. You often find them enjoying music and dancing together.
The Pherris creatures come from the Northern ranges of the land, and are known to be more aggressive. They have longer fur and more predator like features, with reddish fur, said to be like iron. They are said to be smiths or metal wielders, using lunar essence. They seek to claim more territory, and are very strong by nature, being referred to as Pherris warriors. They move further inland during the colder seasons.
The Volukros creatures, come from the southern and tropical ranges, and are known for stealth and agility, properly adorned with darker and feathered features. They move further out from the south during the warmer seasons.
Besides these three main races in the dreamlands, there seems to be some other smaller groups of creatures such as ancients, growths, charged, giant, winged and hybrid lunar animals. The essence must change an animal completely overtime, as we see with just simply visiting can cause physical effects.
Abalone's dreamland theories-
As Abalone first begun his trips to the dreamland realm, he discovered there were more species of lunar creatures than Shiloh originally documented.
Abolone discovered the Fluvial creatures with water-like body parts, the Wattled creatures with thin webbed-like parts, as well as a Lichen creatures and Crag creatures, which Abalone concludes the two are most likely subspecies of the growth creatures. Along with these creatures, he found the living tree creatures.. which were made of tree and bark instead of having growths protruding from their bodies. He deemed these creatures must be in the same genus as the growth creatures.
Since Shiloh's first visits in the dreamlands, the Cnitharian shopkeepers seem to trade in a currency called lunar tears. Small glowing stone-like objects shaped vaguely like tear drops. These lunar tears are prized and valued high in the physical world, worth more than the common silver cone currency. Though, Abalone assumes these tears are capsules of lunar essence, he is unsure whether they are made of some lunar-gem, metal, natural material or perhaps somehow solidified essence.
Through Abalone's visits in the dreamlands, he begun to have eerie encounters with a being that one of the other wolves warned him that Shiloh had seen a few times. Every once in a while after especially long periods of lunar exploration, Abalone will spot a small shadowed pup from the corner of his eye, and making eye contact with it seems to mess with his vision and mind. This pup is always alone and never hangs around for long, but from talking with other wolves, this pup is referred to as Nobaby by all the other creatures in the physical world who know of its existence. Abalone has no idea what kind of creature this pup is, but it seems sinister and out of place from all the other lunar species. He continues to document his encounters with it.
