Biography
"Today is the day, Roach! Strudel is going to chose his replacement, how are you not excited!?" The blue pelted wolf by the name Typhos chuffed softly as he bounded around in excitement. Roach, a purple pelted wolf and Typhos' mate, watched with a neuteral expression. "Because, there is nothing exciting about our leader dying" she growled softly and Typhos seemed to slow down, his tail tucking between his legs, ears flattening to his head and his head dipping down slightly. He knew his mate was right, there was no excitement in their leader dying, but thats not what was exciting him "I'm not excited that hes dying, Roach. I'm excited because Im one of the candidates as next in line" Typhos sighed softly.
-----
A sharp, low pitched and snappy howl split the air, Strudel stood where great Alphas before him had stood, The rock formation that looked over the pack who was all gathered in the clearing waiting for their Alpha to speak.
"Choosing the next Alpha of this pack is no easy feat, as many of you know I have spent the last year talking with the elders of the pack," The fox pelted wolf spoke, his voice commanding and loud over the silence of the pack "As you all know there has been 3 potentential candidates for Alpha, and I have spent the last year watching them. Our 3 candidates were; Rose, who had proven time and time again to be an incredible hunter and that she is a strong leader." Strudel announced, gesturing for the Hunter to step forward onto the formation with him
"Avalanche, who has proven to be quite the Optamist in darker times for the pack" Avalanche stepped forward to join the Alpha and Rose on the formation.
"And finally, Typhos. Typhos has proven through thick and thin to be an incrediably Amiable and friendly pup with strength and agility like no other" Finally, the blue pelted wolf stepped up, his paws unsure as he tread the path that great Alphas had tread.
"After some careful consideration from me and the pack elders, we have come to a decision." Strudel held his head high as he spoke, eerily confident even if his graying old age
"The pup chosen here today will spend the next year by my side, learning the ways of leadership" The Alpha announced turning to face the three young pups who were all waiting with baited breath.
"Avalanche. You have proven to be a strong headded pup with his priorities straight and Optimism like I have never seen" Strudel starts, turning to face Avalanche as he adressed him "But, those things are outweighed by you impulsivity and need to always be right without considering others opinions. Please, Join the rest of your pack mates" Strudel dismissed the pup gently. Avalanche nodded softly and thanked the Alpha for considering him before he padded back down the rock formation to join his family.
"Rose, You my dear are the first she-wolf to have been considered to lead this pack in a long time." The elderly wolf turned to her as he spoke "a nobel leader you will be my dear, but i fell your skill set is more well used as the leader of a hunting party as you are. Please, join your family" Strudel dismissed her softly as she thanked him and followed the path Avalanche had taken
Typhos' feet padded softly as he shifted nervously under the gaze of the Alpha, he had been preparing for this day for months but nothing can truly prepare a wolf for the rush of being chosem. Blood thudded in his ears as his hear rate picked up and he attempted to act confidant. Strudel gave a soft nod to the blue pelted pup before turning away from him, gesturing for him to follow as Strudel stood on the edge of the rock formation with Chickpea, his mate, by his side. Typhose stepped up hesitantly and stood on the oposite side of the Alpha as Roach stepped up beside hime with a soft yet small smile on her muzzle.
"Pups and Elders alike, your next Alpha and his mate, Typhos!" Strudels voice seemed to echo as he announced that Typhos would be the next alpha. The younger wold looked to the Alpha who gave a soft nod and a loud deep howl rung through the clearing, followed by an equally loud howl in a slightly higher pitch before Strudel and Chickpea joined the ralley followed by the rest of the pack. Elders and Yearlings and all in between howled in harmony while pups sung, off key and out of sync with the rest. A pack ralley rung through the clearing and echoed through the valley of the grasslands signalling the dawn of a new era
