Lore: Abatina decided to become a traveler when her pack's territory became overwhelmed with adols becoming adults. She knew that there was not enough food in their territory to support all the new full grown wolves. Having always been curious about traveling, Abatina decided to petition to become a traveler instead of putting more strain on her pack's already limited resources. Her petition was readily and happily accepted by her pack alpha. Gladiola asked if there was anything that the pack could give Abatina to help her start her journey. Knowing how strained the pack was, Abatina asked only for something to remind her of home. She was gifted with a herb crown by the pups of the pack. She promised to never take it off and packed her few belongings. Saying her final farewells to her mother and grandmother, Abatina set off into the great unknown.

Lore: Abatina had been travelling a few months when she happened upon Autumn Valkyrie, a lead she wolf from a pack in the boreal forest. She was used to thin resources but she had been going hungrier than she had hoped, and there were way too many disasters of late too. She knew staying with others would offer a welcome change of pace and safer conditions, so after a few awkward pleasantries and being told " Make yourself useful!" By Autumn, she joined the pack. Abatina was lying flat a day into her stay, trying to settle in, when she spotted Autumn in the distance, starting an inspection. She wasn't working yet! Leaping up she looked round. She saw a middle aged she wolf, shredding feathers. She dashed over to "help"
"Steady!" The other wolf growled " I'm not starting again. You will"
She peeked over the other side of the she wolf. Nests! Thats why she was shredding feathers.
" Actually, thats what i'm here for" Abatina said " you look like you need help"
The other wolf scoffed " Do i? So it's not because Autumn is coming? You should stop looking over to her. She wont even see you until she is ontop of you. Her smugness clouds her sight"
Abatina didn't know what to say. The other wolf softened a little " Look, i know what its like to join this pack as an outsider. I wasn't born into it either. Many here are. We are a minority.Whats your name? I'm Kiralyi"
" Abatina..." her voice came out small as she shuffled her paws in the dirt
" Well Abby" said Kiralyi " you can't trick a trickster so don't lie to me. Welcome to Vilmennene. Come, you may as well help. These are swan feathers, we use them for nests " She gestured toward a pile. As if on que, Autumn approached the two. Kiralyi gave a huge grin " Morning Missus Alpha Valkyrie! Your crown is looking pretty! I love the butterfly wings" Autumn nodded their way in response before moving on to inspect the next wolves. As she walked out of earshot Abatina asked Kiralyi " You were lying to her, weren't you?" Kiralyi sniggered " that obvious? Not many can tell" Abatina paused. " Well how come? Is she a bad alpha?"
" No" Kiralyi answered, picking a new feather to shred " shes responsible, dedicated, fair.."
" But?.." Abatina pressed.
" But" said Kiralyi " her crown is so heavy now its a wonder it doesn't break her neck. So pretentious" she rolled her eyes " and she calls her pelt 'PYROPE' its red. We dont need a word to make her special. She is already one of the ancient and powerful Valkyrie line. Get used to hearing about THEM, Abby! Yes, yes we know, the Valkyrie line is so supreme. My children couldn't compare!" Kiralyis lip curled, and Abatina giggled. " Wait, where are your pups?"
" in here" Kiralyi gestured to her abdomen " its nice to talk to someone who doesnt say SHUSH the Valkyrie's may hear you!!" She smiled at Abatina. Abatina smiled back " its nice to talk to another bad liar Kiralyi!" She said. Kiralyi sighed, still smiling "yes, it is"
Over the next month, the girls grew closer. Their shared dishonesty led them to prank the other pack members. They were lying together on a hill watching clouds, still laughing as they had just told a class of pups that a cloud had become a dragon, swooped down and eaten a pup. Kiralyi was getting bigger with her pregnancy, and was making the most of her relaxing time " it never gets old" Kiralyi laughed " It's all in good humour I'm sure mine will be great sports. They are already full of energy!"
" How dy'a know that?" Abatina looked over at Kiralyi " are you making it up?"
" No!" Kiralyi stated " i wont lie to you. Come, feel"she grabbed Abatina's front paw and pulled her toward her bump, before dropping her paw on it " can you feel them?" Abatina's ears pricked and her eyes widened "well that really is something! Kiralyi, when you said you wont lie to me, how come?"
" Same reason you don't lie to me" Kiralyi smiled " look at that cloud Abby, looks like a crocodile. Better tell the pups we saw one" both the girls laughed.
Kiralyi and Abatina continued to grow closer as friends. Abatina was young and Kiralyi was 5. She made Kiralyi feel young. When it was time Abatina helped deliver the pups. It was a smooth birth but an intense experience for them. All too soon Abatina got itchy feet. It was time to go. She approached Kiralyi.
" I wish i'd never said it" Kiralyi said after too long not reacting " i wish you were lying to me Abby, but i know you're not. Its just i was hoping you'd wait.. one of the pups wanted to travel with you. I said he could; when he's the age to. I know you love them"
Abatina held back an eyeroll. Typical Kiralyi. " He will find me" she smiled " i wont forget you. Theres only one Kiralyi. Well..maybe not" she winked, and licked the cheek of Kiralyi's boy. She would miss them fiercely, but she felt she would see them again. It was time to go now.

Lore: Abatina had been traveling through barren landscapes of snow and ice, all the way down south into a large expanse of forest. The weather didn't get any warmer, however, and her one saving grace was the fact that the sun was out and warming up her fur. She thought about Kiralyi, and how her son would one day become a traveler like her. The thought warmed her heart, and she distracted herself from any thoughts of sorrow by stopping to look at her surroundings. She lowered her head to sniff at a particularly odd-shaped leaf when she heard stumbling above her. She snapped her head up, expecting to have to go into battle, but was met instead with a green-tinged wolf sniffing at some branches he'd just tripped over. Abatina tilted her head and frowned a bit. Was he a lone wolf?
"Who are you?" Abatina asks him, and the wolf looks up, surprised as if he hadn't registered her presence until she spoke.
"I'm Dewdrop, who are you? Is this your territory?" He responds, the end of his tail wagging slightly.
"No..." She shook her head slowly, eyeing him. "And my name is Abatina. Are you part of a pack?"
He nods, his tail wagging a little more now. "Yes, actually! I'm part of the Snow Peak Pack, just further south from here!"
Abatina raises her eyebrows, now interested. "Oh, do you think they'd be opposed to my visiting them? See, I'm a traveling wolf."
Dewdrop kneads the ground with his front paws, seemingly excited by this news. "No way! I'm a traveler too! Yea-I mean, no! They won't be opposed to you, and yeah, you can go visit!" He pads around Abatina in a circle, using his tail to motion behind him. "Just keep going south, until you reach the mountain ranges. Then just keep going south, following the range. You'll soon come to a crossing point that'll be overrun with my pack's scent. You can follow the scent from there pretty easily. Tell them Dewdrop sent you, that should hopefully get rid of any hostility towards you."
Abatina gives her a curt nod of thanks. "I better be going then, thanks. And good luck on your journey." She waits long enough to see Dewdrop give a small nod and a quick wag of his tail before she trots off in the direction he's pointed out, hearing him woof behind her "You too, Abatina!"
Abatina had followed the mountain range south, just as Dewdrop had instructed. She didn't even have a chance to search for any wolf scents before she came across a small group of wolves, all with similar fur patterns and colors, seemingly out patrolling the territory together. They looked surprised to see a friendly lone wolf in their territory, and at her request decide to bring her back to their pack to speak to their leader. Their leader, as she came to learn, was Jackson, the alpha of the Snow Peaked Pack. She had an opportunity to meet and chat with him, and after she revealed the fact that Dewdrop had sent her, was met by Dewdrop's family, who were anxious to hear how he was. She got the impression Jackson and Dewdrop's family weren't very fond of her, but they allowed her to stay in the pack a while to rest from her journey.
It seemed it didn't take long for the initial shock of her appearing to wear off, and the pack went about their daily lives as usual. Some wolves peered out at her from their dens or from the shadows, unsure of what to make of the visitor. Others seemed to take an interest in her, giving her a tail wag when they passed by her or a friendly nod in greeting. One of these more social wolves was Rat, a mischievous wolf who appeared to be shunned by most of his family members. She had met him one night while he skulked around in the shadows, trying to remain unseen. She had given him a small woof of surprise, startling him. Abatina had introduced herself, and they started up a conversation. She had learned that Rat was actually a high ranking wolf, being the son of a popular (though now deceased) scout wolf. He was disliked by his siblings, though, for being a runt and simply not getting along with them in general due to clashing personalities. Out of the many wolves of the pack, she actually liked Rat the most. He had a knack for pranks and fun that the other wolves seemed annoyed by. Rat in turn seemed to enjoy her company, and after spending a while in the pack, she could see why. Almost nobody spent time with him, though she didn't know if it was due to the fact he was still a yearling or his personality. She at one point gained enough courage to ask him about his name, curious to know why he'd been named after a rodent, and his only response was to shrug and say that apparently he'd looked like a large rat when he was born, though he often wondered what his mother was thinking when she named him.
One afternoon Abatina and Rat were lazing about in the territory, having a pleasant conversation to pass the time. At one point Rat brings up his enjoyment of nature and the beauty of it.
"I don't know... Sometimes I wish I could just capture those special moments, you know? Like the sun setting on the edge of a lake, or two butterflies in a meadow chasing each other..."
"Something you can do is collect a little trinket from whatever it is you were watching, like a pebble from the shore of the lake, or a clump of flowers from the meadow where you saw the butterflies." Abatina suggests.
"I've actually thought about that," Rat says. "But I think I've found something better..." He reaches out his front paw, digging a bit at the soil in front of them. Abatina tilts her head, wondering what he's doing, when he pulls his paw away and she sees he's drawn some shaky lines into the dirt. She looks a little closer, curious, and realizes he's drawn a semi-circle over a straight line, likely representing the sunset at the lake he had used as an example earlier.
"Hey, that's pretty cool!" Abatina says, studying his lines curiously. "You could actually do something with that."
Rat shakes out his pelt. "I don't know, I mean, what use does it even really have?"
Abatina considers his question a moment. "Well, you've told me in the past how you don't really know what job to take in the pack before your first year is over, right? Well, why not take up drawing?"
Rat snorts. "You think they'd really let me just carve lines in dirt all day?" He says sarcastically. "Even if they would allow such a ordinary pastime as a job, how would it contribute to the pack in any way?"
"There could be a use for it!" She insists, and flicks her head downward to the ground in front of her. "Draw me."
"What?" Rat looked confused, tilting his head and narrowing his eyes.
"Draw me, make little lines in the dirt that are supposed to be me."
Rat hesitates, looking down. "Well, I can't really draw wolves very well, yet. I mean, it won't really look like a wolf..."
"That doesn't matter," Abatina says, "You're like the first wolf to have any kind of creative abilities around here, and I think you could make some use of them."
Rat grunts, seemingly unconvinced, but still he decides to study her a second before turning to drag one of his claws methodically through the soil, concentrating on his scribbles. After a moment, he frowns. "Well... I mean it doesn't really look like you but..."
"Hey, that's pretty good!" Abatina says, studying the drawing he made of her.
"Oh please, look I know we're friendly with each other and all, but don't lie to me."
"Well, there's definitely room for improvement, I guess..." Abatina says sheepishly, "but it's definitely not something I see very often in a wolf pack, you should take advantage of this."
Rat sighs, looking thoughtful. "I don't know, I feel like at the moment I should focus more on what to do with my life, though I'll probably just get ushered into the pupsitter role. Wolves who don't take up the pupsitter job with intention of becoming a den mother or being super dedicated to the pups are usually looked down upon, because it's the 'lazy wolf's' job. But I don't know what else to do, honestly."
Abatina remains silent, unsure of what to tell him, and the two wolves sit in silence for a while as the sun started to creep down towards the horizon.
Abatina had started to feel it was time to move on to other packs and new territories, so she started to prepare by packing her things and saying her goodbyes to the wolves who she'd interacted with during her stay. Jackson had organized a small event for her before she set about her adventures, to wish her good luck and thanking her for her stay. One of the wolves from the group that had seen her when she first arrived, Earthia, had brought a clump of flowers from the territory, taking with her a butterfly as well, to give to Abatina as a parting gift. Jackson's pups with help from their mother had strung a few owl talons on a piece of string to craft a necklace for her as a reminder of her stay in the pack. She was a little disappointed when she didn't see Rat among the wolves who had come to bid her goodbye, but she decided to shake it off, thinking maybe he had gotten caught up in something. As the wolves where saying their last goodbyes and Abatina was starting to trot out of the heart of their home, a shaggy wolf came running up to her. Rat, looking ragged and sounding out of breath. He had been carrying something in his mouth, which he let fall beside her with a satisfied grin on his muzzle.
"Glad I caught you before you could get away-" He said, panting. "Look what you made me come up with!"
Abatina looks down at the piece of bark he had thrown in front of her, and looking closer, noticed two little figures smeared on it.
"It's supposed to be us," Rat says with a husky chuckle. "I uh... Didn't really know how to make white paint, though..."
Abatina gives him a small smile. "Well, look what the pack artist made for me! It doesn't look half bad, and I'm surprised you figured out how to get so many colors to begin with, I'll make sure to keep this with me."
Rat gives her a satisfied nod, before giving her a small tail wag. "If you ever want another masterpiece by a famous artist, you know where I live," He says in a playful tone. "Carry on with your adventures, Wanderer, and may your travels be safe!"

Lore: Abatina continued in her journey and found herself in a large deciduous forest as the sun was beginning to set. The lingering rays allowed her to see the new leaves and flowers on all the trees, signifying a lush spring in these woods. She walked further into the forest, looking to find a new pack of wolves where she might stay. She was surprised when a bird shrieked in the trees, a small lark flying out and away. Was it just her imagination, or did the lark's feathers appear to be glowing? She noticed a small blue mist coating the ground and hesitated for a moment, wondering if it was safe to continue.
"A traveler! I was out for a walk to stretch my legs. Are you looking for a pack to stay at?" A male voice spoke behind her. Abatina turned around and saw a lean male with a red pelt that also appeared to be glowing. The stripes on his pelt seemed to glow the brightest. She blinked to make sure she was seeing it right.
"Yes, I'm traveling. And I have been looking for a pack. Is there one nearby?" She asked pleasantly.
"Yes! I'm Jelle, a member of the Starshade Pack," he introduced. "Come with me this way!"
Abatina followed, walking deeper into the trees.
"You glow? And this mist…" she asked warily.
"Lunar energy permeates these woods. Sometimes lunar creatures will pass through because of it. I glow from being exposed to it for so long. Also my pelt is startouched," Jelle explained happily. She was sure he'd given this explanation a million times to other travelers already.
Once she arrived at the Starshade Pack's den, Abatina worked as a pupsitter, learning a few hunting tips and becoming fast friends with Jelle. She even birthed her own little of puppies whose care she entrusted to the Starshade wolves.
