Ruby and Caribou got along right away. Ruby was such a kind wolf, with a skill for comforting and speaking with his packmates. Even Caribou was surprised by the wolf's endless patience for his sometimes snippy packmates. Caribou is confident Ruby will take care of the pack once she is gone.
History
Once an adolescent, no wolf was surprised when Caribou took on the role of herbalist, while her two siblings took on the role of chasers. Caribou adored the job and worked diligently. While it certainly took the optimistic young wolf a while to bond with her stoic and judgmental mentor Steel, the two did eventually become good friends. Caribou learnt so much from Steel he was truly talented at his job, Caribou was proud to call him her mentor.
By the time Caribou reached adulthood, she was well on her way to becoming an amazing healer. While skilled in her craft and having a vast knowledge of herbs, she was also kind and optimistic, making any wolf under her care feel safe and cared for.
Caribou's first death was a tough one. It is a Healer's duty to guide elders to the mountain's summit, so that their spirits may be guided to the afterlife. Caribou's very own mentor, Steel, was her first loss. Knowing that her mentor would truly be gone made Caribous nervous and sad, however, she was confident it what her mentor had taught her, and she knew she couldn't stay his apprentice forever. Caribou does her best to remember the trek up the mountain fondly, how she had pestered Steel with so many remaining questions she had, while Steel rolled his eyes at her… Still, he fondly answered every single one.
Caribou was thrilled when she heard her parents were having another litter. She loved pups and couldn't imagine anything better than their family growing. Six new siblings, however, was a lot more than Caribou had bargained for. What's more was most of these pups took on her father Badger's bad attitude. Caribou loves her little siblings more than anything but… She can't deny they are a lot more of a pawful than she had anticipated.
Caribou has never liked the idea of taking a mate, but the idea of pups always intrigued her. As she got older, Caribou decided she wanted a litter of her own and set off to find a nice wolf to assist her in having a litter. Caribou ended up meeting Ibiki from a neighboring pack, the kind wolf was more than happy to help her. Only a few month later, Caribou gave birth to three pups, two boys and a girl. She felt such a strong fondness the moment her pups were born, as well as a small bit of anxiety when she realized one of her pups may be chosen to be the packs next leader.
Caribou was both extremely proud and extremely nervous when her child Fern was chosen to be the pack's next leader. Caribou would stand by and support her pup as best she could, but she just hoped they could handle the job. She also couldn't help but feel for her son Beast, she had known how badly he had wanted the role of leader. Still, nothing to be done with wallowing or panicking, all she could do was comfort her pups and support them in any way possible.
It hurt when Caribou's father Badger passed, having to be the one to guide him to the mountain's summit. He has been such a lively and stubborn wolf; it was strange to imagine a world with him gone. When her mother passed not long after, Caribou found herself uncertain about what to do with herself, she knew it would take a long time for her to feel okay again. Finch was the last parent she lost, having all her parents die so close together certainly took a toll on her. She knew she still had a job to do, her pack needed her. But she found some days it was hard just to wake up. She knew she would learn to manage with time, but that didn't make it any easier.
Now getting older, Caribou knew it was time to take on an apprentice. Thankfully the young wolf Ruby had begun to show an interest in the job. Caribou and Ruby got along right away, the young wolf was eager to learn and was amazing when it came to interacting with his patients. Caribou knew that the job was meant for Ruby, and that he would make for a healer she could be proud of.
On the 7th year and 6th month of her life, Caribou made her way to the mountains summit. Ruby, Moss, and Beaver keeping her company through most of the journey. Caribou enjoyed the company of her apprentice and knew he would take care of the pack once she was gone. Once at the top, looking out at the endless sky, Caribou, Moss, and Beaver were greeted by their parents, Elk, Badger, and Fern, who gently guided them to the afterlife.
