Ostara

You hear a noise coming from the nursing den. You watch curiously as a young and tired-looking she-wolf slides out from inside. You had begun to think only pupsitters resided in the nursing den, but now you supposed not. The brown she-wolf looked nothing like plump Melora or lively Aurel.

"That's Ostara," Evanthe tells you. Ostara glances in your direction through sleepy gray eyes. "She's a hunter, but she's in the nursing den because she recently had pups."

Like ducklings, two round-eyed pups trot after their mother. It looked like she had a small litter. 

You watch as Ostara moves toward you and Evanthe, her eyes still bleary. "Have you seen Fynley?" she asks, ignoring your presence. Evanthe nods.

"He went hunting earlier," she tells the nursing wolf. Ostara lets out an impatient sigh and slides over to rest next to Melora. Evanthe turns to you. "Fynley and Ostara are awfully close. I assume he is the father of her pups."

Assume? You don't press Evanthe about the pups anymore, but as you gaze at Ostara, you can't help but feel a little sympathy for her. The tired young wolf looked weighted with many, many secrets.
