Pupsitter: Stoneshade
Mountainheart was a dedicated little boy who couldn't wait to grow up and be the coolest wolf ever. Any story he heard about a heroic Ancestor would end with him shouting "I want to do that too!" Any interesting job that his pupsitter Stoneshade described to him would have him saying "That's what I want to do!" His mother Greyspirit hoped that all her pups would grow up to be hunters like her, but Mentor Moondream urged her not to try to influence Mountain. He would find his proper place in the Pack soon enough.
At the Academy, Mountain was assigned to study speed and agility to build on his strong stats. He excelled in his lessons and it seemed there was nothing he couldn't do. He also seemed to gravitate towards hunting tasks, which made his mother very happy. But Mountain himself only seemed to get more confused about his future. Was he really meant to be a hunter? Or would it be cooler to be a scout or something else? Even when the pupsitters recommended him for a hunter role, Mountain still wasn't sure. His mother told him that he would know for sure the moment he hit the trail. It would just feel right.
During his apprenticeship, Mountain trained as a chaser along with several other apprentices. Even though his mother was a finisher and he was very strong, chasing work just seemed to fit him, and he took to it with ease. He found that his mother had been right about the trail feeling right and the fog lifted from his view of the future. Mountain's littermates Aspenbranch and Snowmelt also trained as chasers and the three of them made a pact to be the coolest wolves in the Pack. No one was more dedicated to that goal than Mountain.
On his first birthday, Mountain was excited to try fermented barley for the first time. He and Aspen and Snow guzzled an entire cup each and laughed at everything for the rest of the night.
Now as an adult, Mountain still wants to be the coolest wolf in the Pack and prides himself on being everyone's friend. It's not unusual to see the Academy pups following him around the dens like ducklings, just wanting to be around him. Even though Aspen and Snow ended up on a different hunting team, Mountain's bond with them never waivers. He likes his work and bounces out of bed each morning ready to hit the trail. Being appointed breeding male didn't seem like a big deal to him, even though his male packmates certainly thought it was. And ditto for when he was named Beta. They just chalked it up to his natural coolness.
