Honey and Avalanche are close friends, being similar ages the two got to grow up together. They spend most of their spare time together and enjoy each other's company.
History
Avalanche was grateful for Smoke, if the lone wolf hadn't have found him well… Avalanche probably would have starved to death. The two travelled together for a while, Smoke offering to help Avalanche to find his family again… though after a few days of searching it became clear that the pup was too far turned around to ever hope to find his pack again. Avalanche wasn't sure what he wanted to do anymore, and that's when he met Elk. Elk was a kind wolf, simply on her daily patrol of her territory when she encountered Avalanche and Smoke. Seeing that Avalanche was lost and far from home, Elk offered him a place in her own pack, the pup timidly agreeing. Smoke travelled along with them, stating he would stay just for a while, to help look after Avalanche. In the end, Smoke chose to stay with the pack as a pupsitter. Avalanche was grateful to this, having grown close to Smoke and seeing him as a big brother.
Avalanche had always enjoyed helping Smoke in his role as pupsitter. When he himself was finally old enough to start his apprenticeship, he couldn't imagine anything better than following in his big brothers pawsteps. Avalanche's fair nature was as big a help as it was a detriment, the wolf quickly learning that pups don't play fair.
By the time he reached adulthood, Avalanche felt that he had become a pupsitter that Smoke could be proud of. He chose to stay with the job full time, it was nice and his fellow packmates made for good company in the seasons where there were no pups to raise or protect.
Avalanche had had a crush on Heron since he had first met her as a pup, one that only grew when they reached adolescence. The two often got teased by their packmates for their obvious feelings for each other. While this embarrassed Avalanche, his love for Heron was stronger than any of his packmates teasing. The two of them officially became mates a few months after Heron reached adulthood.
Avalanche and Heron had both wanted pups, deciding to have a litter. They were blessed with two girls and two boys. Avalanche was overjoyed to learn that one of his pups may become leader. Having been a young prince himself in his original pack, it was nice to think of his pups as ones themselves. He will admit, he was disappointed when his pups weren't picked for the role of leader, though he respected Elk's decision and trusted her judgment when picking Fern. His pups instead took on the roles of hunters, three chasers and one tracker. A noble job that his pups should be proud of, he knew they would excel.
Losing Smoke had been hard. While not related by blood, Smoke was Avalanche's brother in all the ways that matter. It was a grief he wasn't familiar with. Of course, he had been sad when he got separated from his pack, but truth be told… he had never been particularly close with any of his family or pack. His grief at losing them had been… different. Smoke's death felt like a claw had slashed through his heart. It was times like this that he was grateful for Heron and his pups, they helped him to process his grief in a way he wasn't sure he could have managed alone.
After Void's death, Avalanche knew it was his turn to become the packs mentor. He took the job very seriously and did a good job. No one complained at least. Well… Except for the pups, who often insisted Avalanche was too strict.
On the 7th year and 6th month of his life, Avalanche made his way to the mountains summit. Ruby keeping him company through most of the journey. Once at the top, looking out at the endless sky, Avalanche was greeted by his brother Smoke, who gently guided him to the afterlife.
