Biography
A mysterious stranger, not part of Rime Pack. She offered to let North explore the tundra, and explained that the dream he had last time when visiting there have actually been a vision of the notorious she-wolf, Thermal's, passage.
Moonspeaker appears to be mystical, and has some connection to the Dreamlands, as she draws in lunar essence. She is also knowledgeable about passages, beings of pure will created at a wolf's death, and their intentions.
She and North would continue meeting with another and exploring the tundra in secret. During this time, she asked North questions about his past. One of the things North mentioned was the time his eyes remained blue longer than the rest of his siblings even as they were weaned. Suddenly, Moonspeaker would stop meeting with North and disappear from the territory. North was anxious to know what happened to her.
North returned to the tundra upon becoming a full scout. He would find Moonspeaker there, meditating with lunar essence. Through her meditation, she determined North's destiny, that his "frost eyes" mean he must lead his pack to the frozen lands, that is, the glaciers. From there, she would give North a jewelwing to watch over him through its eyes. North needs to convince his mother to migrate their pack.
Instead, North fails to convince his mother to let the pack move on. When he decides to strike out on his own, along with his brother and sister, to discover the glacier, Moonspeaker guides their way. Later, these three are joined by the adolescents Soil and Bone, as well as the scout, Char. North would fully uncover the tundra and set foot upon the glacier, catching up with the real Moonspeaker. However, North was imprisoned by the Wolf of Flame, that is, Thermal's passage. His mother, Polar, entered the Dreamlands and ended up defeating the Wolf of Flame thanks to the help of the Wolf of Frost, the counterpart to the burning wolf and the symbol of Rime Pack. This freed North from slumber, and caused his eyes to turn a frosty blue. Moonspeaker would then instruct him to continue exploring the glacier, as he waited the arrival of his pack.
Once Rime had settled in the tundra, North would continue to train until Moonspeaker was satisfied with his progress. Now that North has completed his training, he shall begin his journey to uncover the glacier and bring Rime to their promised land. Meanwhile, Moonspeaker herself would train the young Ravine to replace her role as Moonspeaker for Rime, as she has declared that she will fade away with the Dreamlands by the end of the next period of Lunar Essence.
When the time of Lunar Essence had come, Moonspeaker would reveal her past to Ravine. She was once an ordinary wolf named 'Ginger', though like Ravine, she was born with unusual patterns that foretold her destiny as a Moonspeaker. One fateful night, she would fall asleep and never wake up. The Herbalist of her pack would presume her dead, as he couldn't even detect her pulse. That was, until she woke up a week later. During the time she was asleep, she had frolicked through the Lunar Fields, encountering the mysterious animals and wolves that dwelled there. Ginger would eventually find herself wandering a field of pure stone, where she would encounter a wolf who's body was a construct of herbs. This wolf was actually a passage, in fact, it was the passage of her pack's very first leader, Aloe. Aloe's passage offered to Ginger to partake of her own herbs, and upon consuming one, Ginger's "eyes were opened", and she finally woke up. When she did, she was surrounded by herbs which expelled Lunar Essence, and got the idea to store and consume them. She would take these with her back to her pack from where they had laid her body, so her appearance was a shock to her packmates.
Unfortunately, though, both the current leader and the Herbalist showed fear of Ginger's reawakening and her strange items, and would decide to expel her from the pack. So now that she had become a loner, she would dedicate her life to studying the herbs and their essence. Soon, she was taking in the essence itself, and discover the Realm of Passage, where her efforts would be approved the passages of her former packmates. Eventually, by entering his dreams, Ginger would learn that the leader of her former pack had fallen into a deep sleep and was lost in the Lunar Fields. From there, Ginger would guide him to his reawakening, which the pack leader was eternally grateful for. He offered to let Ginger back into their pack, but Ginger wanted the passages' word about it, first. They told Ginger to chose her own path, as her help may be needed elsewhere. And because she was so far away from home, Ginger couldn't inform her leader about it. So she chose to seek elsewhere to guide wolves in through the Dreamlands, going by the alias of Moonspeaker. She learned that she wasn't the first of wolves to navigate the Dreamlands, and wouldn't be the last.
That was when she had crossed paths with North, who's leader mother she learned had been held hostage in the Dreamlands once. With this Moonspeaker decided that Rime was the pack she would focus on. By exploring the Lunar Fields through Polar and as well as North, she would encounter the Wolf of Frost, the passage representing the will of Rime Pack itself. As she watch the Wolf of Frost enter the glacier, she understood this to be Rime's destiny, as she detected the "determination of progress" in its icy blue eyes, which were reflected in North. To her, North's eyes indicated that it was time for Rime's destiny to be fulfilled, and that it was going to be fulfilled through him. She also knew that Rime was going to need their own Moonspeaker, as they had wolf who possessed the lunar markings as she did. But she also learned about the Wolf of Flame, a wolf who would seek to challenge Rime's journey to the glacier.
This is why Moonspeaker has decided to train Ravine, as will serve as their connection to the Dreamlands and the Realm of Passage from now on. Like her, he will explore the Lunar Fields and meet with Cnitharians and the Passages of Rime's ancestors on a regular basis, and absorb lunar essence from the objects he gains from there. His training begins now, and once Moonspeaker has passed on to the Dreamlands, he will take her place immediately.
Ravine would soon uncover the Sleeplands, a place where Rime's ancestors will permanently reside. By doing this, he had passed the final test to become Moonspeaker, as he will interacting with Rime's ancestors from now. As such, Moonspeaker was finally able to turn the role over to him and pass on into the Realm of Passage. Moonspeaker did not die, so much as ascend into a higher plane of existence. She now looks on Rime from the Realm of Passage, delivering them any future prophecies they need. In addition, she has decided to revert her name back to "Ginger".
