As a spear of grief rings throughout her chest, the young wolf whines solemnly. Her mother has now passed, laying still in soft moss. She wonders longingly what to do next, where to go, whom to find, she settles to grieve for a while more, to stay at her mothers side.

Standing guard over the dead, she begins to drifts off as well. Her eyes begin to fall heavy, her mind weary and body languid- still she holds her spot firmly.

After some time, hunger and thirst begin to bite at her mind, yet feet stay solid, mind begins to quiet.
Seasons pass, the young one ages, the elements take their effect on her coat. Stripping it from its shine and color, blood running colder. Skin becoming stone.

She keeps still, sorrow changing into a new duty. She must keep watch until her mother finds the other side, until the rest do too.

To keep the gateway safe for all to find.
