Echidna

🌏 Echidna, the Friendly Traveler 🌏

Echidna has always been known by others as a traveler. From a young age, she is constantly distracted from her birth pack and winds up chasing after beetles or making 'friends' with squirrels in the forest. As she grows, her pack encourages the adventurous streak within the young she-wolf, though they worry that her friendly nature will cause her trouble. Thus, when Echidna tells the pack's elders that she wishes to leave, to start a new journey, a bustling farewell ceremony is held the night before she departs. Once she leaves, Echidna is enthralled with the possibilities that her new life has bestowed upon her.

After a few days, the friendly wolf meets another, one who calls himself Fenrir. He's…difficult, but the two agree to help each other out. Eventually, the two come across two she-wolves, who Echidna wastes no time getting to know. The duo—Lilith and Megaera— tell Echidna and Fenrir that they can stay on the territory, so long as they're helpful. Echidna decides to become a scout in order to discover new lands and perhaps even more.

As the pack grows, Lilith is elected leader, to Echidna's delight. She quite liked the light-furred wolf, and she would do a great job of leading. Much better than someone like Fenrir or the newcomers Angrboda and Nyx. Plus, with the sharp-eyed Megaera by her side, Echidna knows Lilith will always try to make the best choices for the pack.

Eventually, the pack takes in some more stragglers, this time a few pups that they'd come across during their travels. In particular, Echidna finds a striking blue-furred male at one of the Trading Hubs when she is on a scouting trip. She returns home with the pup, and the two quickly form a bond, much like a mother and a son. This pup, Aeolus, shares Echidna's love for travel, and wants to explore the unknown just as his adopted mother does.

Echidna trains Aeolus from the time he is young, and he becomes her apprentice when he's old enough to join her on scouting trips. Echidna is the one to suggest to Lilith that there should be a ceremony when an adolescent finally graduates from their training and becomes fully integrated into their duty. She wants to see Aeolus and the other pups celebrated for making it through their training. Lilith agrees, implementing the idea. The night Aeolus becomes a fully fledged scout, Echidna's joyful howls ring clearer than all the rest. She's so proud of her adopted son. He grows into an excellent scout, and when the two of them aren't off exploring, Echidna spends many a day spending time with Aeolus, and with his friend Morrigan, who has become a respectable healer for the pack.

Echidna is grateful for this little place she's come to call home. It isn't the adventurous, nomadic lifestyle she had thought she'd get, but she supposes that, as nice as it is to have the freedom to explore the lands, far and wide…it is even better to have a warm den to come back to, with wolves who care for her welcoming her home.
