Leap of Startled Buck

Leap of Startled Buck, or "Buck" for short, is the son of Field of Sunlit Rye (Rye) and Mask of Keen-Eyed Magpie (Magpie). Though he was born to the alpha pair, he doesn't take his high position too seriously. He's very friendly, enthusiastic, mischievous, and somehow has an incredibly dark humor (which he undoubtedly gets from Magpie). He's often found roughhousing with his brother, Shadow of Dark Bird (Shadow).

Though Shadow was the firstborn of the litter, and thus should have been the heir for the position of breeding male, his pessimism and nervous demeanor dragged him down. Buck was instead picked to fill Shadow's pawprints thanks to his more friendly and confident demeanor, and he happily accepted the responsibility. He often made jokes about how he'd one day have four hundred girlfriends. Magpie always said that four hundred girlfriends was "cash money". Buck never figured out what that meant.

When Buck finally came of age to become the breeding male, he was suddenly struck with nervousness—for so long he had lived a carefree life, never thinking about his important position in the pack until it had already come upon him. He was very nervous to step into the role, but eventually gained the confidence to slip into the role with the help of his family.
