Biography

"Nova, come here," Flame stood outside the Herbalist Den.

"What do you need?" Nova walked out to her former mentor.

"I want you..." He paused. "I want you, if you find me missing one morning, to tell the pack I have passed on."

"What?" Nova jumped back, shocked. "But surely- surely you still have time left?"

Flame shook his head and laughed. "I've enjoyed my fair share of adventures as a Herbalist and then as a mentor. I can sense I will soon be among the stars. I will go up there to join Amber."

Nova swallowed hard and nodded. "I'll tell the pack if that happens."

A few days later, the pack awoke to find Flame mysteriously missing. Luna sent out several search parties to find him but all of them returned empty-pawed.

"Everyone," Nova began shakily. "Flame's gone."

"Of course he is," Tigress snapped. "He's missing!"

"No, I mean he's... passed away." Nova's announcement sent gasps throughout the pack. "I know it might be shocking to have our herbalist go when he was only becoming an elder, but he asked me to pass on this message."

The pack waited expectantly.

"Here, I'll just go ahead and quote as close as I can to what he said to make things simpler,"

"Dear Pack Members,
It's time for me to leave you all for a new world. By the time Nova tells you this, I will have already gone. Thank you and goodbye. I will never truly leave.
