Thorn

Thorn knew he wasn't the greatest King in the lands, not the smartest, fastest, or strongest. However, Thorn considered himself one of the most ambitious wolves he knew, and it was all for them. His daughters, Otaktay and Urika, were his greatest joy, and he promised himself he would do everything in his power to provide for them for the rest of his days, keeping nothing or very little for himself. Funneling all his riches and winnings into the rest of his pack.

In the beginning, he worked himself to the bone, desperately trying to establish a name for his family. Often he would leave them for weeks, scouting the lands, trying to discover all that he could. One evening after a week away he returned home one of his scouts told him Urika had died. She had wandered away from the puppsitters and been swept away by the river. Her little life ending after only two months on this earth.

Catori, the mother of the two, had grown despondent, unable to even look at little Otaktay. The little she-wolf didn't understand what had happened, why her mother wouldn't speak to her, where her father was, and why no one would tell her where her sister had gone.

Thorn was the one to break the news to her, and she was utterly inconsolable, refusing to leave his side for weeks. Even when she had started to perk up again her relationship with Catori remained strained, for Catori couldn't move on from the death of Urika. Catori and Thorn had never been in love and had only had children as Thorn wanted to ensure his dynasty. That didn't mean he didn't care for her, and he spent many nights trying to console the she-wolf.

Otaktay was a lonely pup, the other apprentices were too old to play with her and the adults were too boring to hold her attention. Noting this, Thorn made a deal with a neighboring pack, adopting a young wayward pup, Saga, who was the exact same age as Otaktay to become her new playmate.

Saga could never replace the void left in the pack by Urikas death but nevertheless, she and Otaktay became very close and began to regard each other as sisters.

Thorn's relationship with Otaktay remained strong and the little wolf still looks to her father as her hero, and now that shes an adult she has a similar sense of duty to protect and provide for their family.
