Biography
It took time for Talani to earn her place within the pack. Ashen was not impressed with her at first, and though he allowed her to share meals with the pack in their time of plenty, she otherwise spent the fall season on the outskirts, occasionally joining Curse on the hunt. It wasn't until the pack's first winter that she was able to prove her value as a chaser, skilled enough to allow Curse, and a newcomer, Winter, to bring back prey enough to keep the pack fed in the harsh moons of the cold season. Come spring, Ashen honored her with a permanent place among his hunters, for as long as she chose to remain.
After Curse and Winter's passing, she decided to stop hunting, finding she had little passion for it anymore. Ashen kept his promise, despite her decision, and Talani was cared for during those seasons. She steadily became more and more reclusive, avoiding her packmates and choosing to seclude herself within the Twisting Bramble, where Curse had spent his last hours resting before he followed his mate to the Eternal Hunt among the stars.
There came a morning that she was simply gone. She had disappeared in the dead of night, beneath the pitch black of a new moon, and no one expected to see her again. She returned some months later carrying a single newborn pup. Those who were there watched in solemn silence as she entered the clearing at the height of day that spring. There was no explanation offered; no introduction. No one made any attempt to stop or follow her as she simply sequestered herself once more within the Twisting Bramble, along with her firstborn.Â
She died a few days later, leaving her pup in the care of Gravedigger, who cared for her alongside her own litter at the time, and raised her as one of her own. Ashen promised Talani her daughter would always have a home with them, and would be given the chance to follow in her mother's steps and hunt alongside Winter's daughter. Talani is remembered by the pack for her skill as a hunter, and her dedication before she fell heartsick.Â
