Pupsitter: Ghostshadow
Timbermarsh was an observant little boy who never failed to learn something from others. At playtime, he often sat on the sideline and just watched everyone. During storytime, he would glance around the den at everyone else, seeming to not pay attention. Even during mealtime his eyes and attention would wander. His mother Beeflight worried about him, thinking there might be something wrong with his mind. But his pupsitter Ghostshadow assured her that Timber was fine. His mind wasn't wandering aimlessly, as it appeared, but he was actually learning by watching everyone else. His elders rarely needed to scold or correct him and his manners were impeccable, simply by keeping track of what other pups got scolded for. And he was also an exceptionally calm and easy-going pup, rarely crying or getting upset.
At the Academy, Timber studied speed and strength to build on his strong stats. He would pay rapt attention to his teachers during class, but as soon as lessons were over for the day, Timber would go to the center of the dens and sit there in the courtyard to watch. It didn't seem to matter what he was watching. It could be his elders coming and going in their duties, other pups playing, or even birds flying overhead. Ghost never needed to worry about him wandering off or getting in trouble and he was always the last pup to be collected into the Academy cave in the evening. But Ghost worried that he didn't interact with other wolves enough. It was nice to learn from watching, but participating would teach him so much more. Ghost encouraged Timber to get involved more, both in and out of class. Timber took this to heart and chose Hunting Basics as his last lesson. He did so well that the pupsitters recommended him for a hunter role.
During his apprenticeship, Timber went out on the trail with his parents to learn finishing work. His observation skills came in handy when keeping track of wildly fleeing prey. He seemed to find it easier to stay in formation than the other youngsters, and he never failed to choose the right moment to strike. The elder hunters were grateful for his help and impressed by his ability to effortlessly keep up and finish a hunt. But Timber didn't seem to think it was a big deal and would shrug off the praise with a quick "thanks". Timber also made sure not to just watch all the time at home either. Getting involved was fun too. He made up for lost play time with his packmates by playing with the Academy pups often.
On his first birthday, Timber started the night on the sidelines, just like when he was a pup. But with each fermented barley he drank, the more involved he became in the fun. It turned out that he had a great talent for word games and his packmates began to call him "the drunken master".
Now as an adult, Timber is still as watchful as ever. All his teammates know, and their prey quickly realize, that they can't get away with anything. But Timber is also the most playful of the hunters and brings the fun to every break and mealtime. He knows every game and song likely to be encountered in a nursery or school, and a few rarer ones too. But Timber isn't just a big puppy all the time. After work is done for the day, the "drunken master" emerges and schools everyone in how to properly dominate a word game or joke contest. No witty retort is beyond his reach with the help of a few fermented barleys. And his skills extend to knowing when to stop drinking so he lands in the sweet spot before becoming too drunk to make sense.
