Lore (Optional) - You are standing in front of an old railway, the tracks long mangled by the slow yet inevitable passage of time, when you spot it. The very air seems to distort around it, almost as if afraid of touching its fur. Darkness pools at its maw and drips down to the ground, splattering around its claws. Its sightless gaze stares right through you as it tilts its head and slowly, ever so slowly, wags its tail. You take a tentative step forwards. Leaves crunch softly under your paw and the entire atmosphere seems to change. The absence of birdsong is suddenly very noticeable. (Was it ever there before?) Í̶͔̮̓ť̵͕ hasn't moved at all, but the fog that had been creeping over your mind dissipates, leaving you feeling very alone and very afraid. Without a second thought, you turn tail and run, nearly tripping over your own paws. The world collapses around you and you are standing in front of an old railway. You stare at the tracks, long mangled by the slow yet inevitable passage of time, but the wolf(?) is gone. A woodpecker drums on a tree nearby.

Lore (Optional) - The leader's children from the last litter were on territory patrol with their older brother when all three heard a strange sound. As if burping or buzzing.... A strange feeling in their heads. Leanne barked in fright and Aloe stepped back as he thought he saw some sort of silhouette in the bushes. Sukkitii stood in front of his siblings, trying to shield the younger wolves with his body.
Suddenly, a strange wolf appeared in front of them. One second he wasn't there, the next he was. His eyes were blank and a strange liquid with an unpleasant smell was dripping from his mouth.
Sukkitti let out a warning growl.
"Who are you?"
Everyone stood tense, waiting to see what would happen. But the stranger did not move.
"This is our territory. We do not tolerate trespassing. Leave." growled Sukkitti again, hoping to get some kind of reaction. Whoever it was, they continued to look directly at him quietly. The strange liquid dripped from their mouth. The sound of it made the hair on the back of Sukkitti's neck stand up.
The stranger did not say anything. They stood. In silence.
"Let's back away." said eventually Sukkitii to his siblings. "Slowly."
Leanne leaned cautiously out from behind his back.
"It looks like they are sick. Maybe they need some help." she whispered.
Her older brother shook his head slowly, not taking his eyes off the disturbing wolf.
"I don't think anything can help this one. They do not seem to understand me"
So they retreated, leaving the strange phenomenon behind.
The younger wolves ran first, while their older brother turned around for a moment to see if the stranger was following them.
But where It stood, there was nothing.

Lore (Optional) - Lunamane and his apprentice Keane were out scouting together, searching biomes already traversed, looking for anything unusual. Keane heard it first. Or, well, didn't heard it first. There was an eerie silence in the part of the woods where they walked.
"Hey, Lunamane, does it seem... quiet to you?" The young wolf asked, looking around warily.
Lunamane had taken Keane on as an apprentice for his keen instincts, and stopped to listen once Keane had asked. Lunamane sniffed the air and blanched at a disguising scent that filled his nostrils. He looked around in all directions, suddenly on high alert.
"Keane, get near me!" He barked, giving a low growl. That was when both wolves saw it. A wolf, almost like a shadow, seeming to distort the air around it. It was unnatural and made both their pelts prickle with fear.
The unusual wolf tilted its head to the side, allowing a slow yet noticeable wag in its tail.
Lunamane took a wary step forward and barked "Who are you? What brings you here?"
When the only reply they received was more of the wolf's silent stare, Lunamane backed up, prompting Keane to do the same.
The eerie wolf took a step towards the pair, and the leaves on the trees, once a lush green, turned suddenly a deep crimson, almost appearing to drip with what looked like blood. Keane gave a sharp yelp and that was the cue for both to turn tail and run straight back to the Starshade Pack. Lunamane constantly checked behind them to make sure they weren't being followed by the strange creature they'd just encountered.

Lore (Optional) - Fathom paced around an overgrown clearing, the sound of her paw steps drowned by the call of birds overhead. She had just returned from scouting the territory to the south and was waiting to meet with her mate and fellow scout, Paint, to discuss their daily findings before returning home.
He was late.
This had never happened since the pair had taken over for the older scouts. She could feel worry catching in her throat and tried her best to focus on putting one paw in front of the other.
The air began to grow quiet and heavy, the song of birds becoming muted as a dull grey settled over the once clear sky. Everything was eerily still, no leaves rustling overhead, no small creatures skittering around the forest, almost as if the wind itself was holding its breath.
Fathom's eyes darted around the clearing, her ears strained forward to try and catch the slightest bit of noise. For any sort of movement in her surroundings.
Her eyes catch on something, a glowing pair of orbs peering from the shadows. Thick black liquid drips down from where they hover. The forest seems to distort, warping the shadows and bushes until almost unrecognizable. Fathom wills herself to move, to take a step back from whatever creature is facing her, but finds her limbs unwilling to cooperate in the heavy air.
Just as sudden as it appeared, it was gone. Fathom let out a choking breath, swearing she could almost make out the form of a wolf retreating into the undergrowth. The sounds of the forest fade back into being, it had felt like hours that she had been frozen there, but was clearly only a moment. Paint burst into the clearing, touching his muzzle to hers with a jumble of apologies for being late. She shakes her head and turns in the direction of home, oddly quiet as Paint tells her of his findings.

Lore (Optional) - "Spiritpup I don't think this is a good idea." A young pup whispered, his voice wavering slightly from fear.
"Oh, hush Runningpup it's fine! We are too far away from the pack to be noticed and dad is so busy right now with the new pups he won't notice we are gone." Shaking his peach-colored fur out Runningpup gave his sister a dirty look, "Yeah, that's an issue for me considering if we get eaten no one is going to notice until we are already a pile of fresh, warm-"
"Listen!" Perking his ears Runningpup strains to hear anything amiss,
"I don't hear anything!"
"Exactly! What happened to the birds and the stream?" Cold started to seep into the young pups bones despite the fact it was in the middle of summer in broad daylight, the sun's rays standing still in between the leaves of the trees. Having enough of the shenanigans Runningpup jumps on his sister and begins to gnaw on her horns, a blessing from the spirits. With his mouth full of horn he spits out,
"I wanna leave now before the Moon Goddess starts telling on us to mom! I never wanted to be out here in the first place!" Spiritpup unable to wrestle herself away, closes her eyes and attempts to bite any flesh that comes near her mouth.
"You're being a real jerk right now. You know that?" Finally able to tear herself away, the young she-wolf pup snarls about to pounce right back at her brother to continue the fight when she sees how stiff her brother had gotten. His eyes wide with fear she had never seen this look on his face. Whipping her young body to face what had made her brother freeze like that, Spiritpup is faced with a large wolf, his soulless eyes staring straight at them. Black slime spilling out of his mouth, the smell hit her nose and she could feel the bile in the back of her throat. With her eyes stinging and nose burning, Spiritpup tried to move her legs or head or any part of her body, but she felt frozen in time. The world around the two young pups started to become hazy and the fear they felt was rising with every second the beast continued staring at them. The Beast slowly wagged its tail and both pups felt like the spell had been broken, both pups turned tail and ran. Spiritpup tried to keep up with her brother, but he was naturally faster than her, feeling herself catch on her own puppy paws she tumbles forward landing on her back. Finally, the fear overwhelmed her, and she began to let out terrified yips and squeals, just knowing the Beast was going to eat her.
"You're fine! It's gone! We are fine!" Runningpups words finally penetrating her ears she lets her cries turn into soft whimpers,
"Are you sure?" Spiritpup asks softly her voice cracking at the end. Runningpup begins to nuzzle his sister in comfort,
"Yes, when I turned around to help you when you fell it wasn't there anymore. Thank the Moon Goddess!" Nodding her head Spiritpup stands up and shakes off the leaves and dirt off her pelt,
"Let's hurry home Runningpup, I don't want to be out here anymore." The two pups hurry home, looking over their shoulders constantly the whole way back.

Lore (Optional) - Ronan followed Hirohito's lead as he followed the scent trail of was seemed to be large game nearby. They saw a moose cow not long after and Hirohito gave the signal for the chasers to wait before taking the creature on. Something didn't seem right, though. The team watched the moose cow quizzically, she appeared to be frozen in terror watching something.
All of a sudden the shadowy outline of a wolf pounced on the moose, bringing it to the ground in one go after catching it off guard. The moose let out a long, pained bellow and when it collapsed to the ground, it vanished into thin air without a trace. The wolf figure seemed to be gone too. The hunting party looked to one another in disbelief. Finally Ronan stepped up carefully and sniffed the area.
"There's nothing here. I don't even smell any traces of the wolf or the moose," he called to his team.
Hirohito came up next and used his keen nose to thoroughly check the area. "Gone without a trace," he mumbled in confusion.
Ronan froze when he locked eyes with two glowing ones in the distance, black ooze dripping from its muzzle. The world seemed to twist and distort as though he couldn't focus on the wolf for long. And then just like that the wolf was gone and everything returned to normal.
"You saw that too, right…?" Côme, another chaser, asked low.
"Let's just go back and tell them our hunting mission was unsuccessful this time around. I need to sit for a little," Ronan stated distantly, feeling light headed. The group all made their way safely back to the den confused and quite shaken.

Lore(Optional): The Alpha Norðurljós and Luna Gealán of the pack were out walking together enjoying a nice leisurely stroll. The pack had been a hustle and bustle of noise, travelers and new pups. They had also just finished moving from the mountains to the forest. A few were unhappy with this change, Bluejay Jr was unhappy in general as Norðurljós had been given the pack instead of him. With Odette gone, she had been more or less the pack's peacekeeper, Bluejay Jr. was trying to start a mutiny.
So the two leaders decided they needed some much-needed alone time and peace and quiet. Norðurljós noticed it first. How everything suddenly got quiet. Gealán noticed things amiss when her mate moved to stand in front of her. Then they heard the crackling, the stench hit their nose next. Gealán couldn't help but wretch at the nasty smell.
There just ahead was what appeared to be a wolf, soulless eyes and black ooze dripping from it's mouth. "I am Norðurljós and this is my pack, you are unwelcome here!" His fur bristled as he prepared himself for a battle. Gealán let out a soft whimper behind him. Normally this pack was all about taking in travelers but there was something wrong about this one.
It caused Norðurljós to fear for his packs safety. Everything about it was just wrong. As Norðurljós lowered himself into a stance the wolf was suddenly gone. Fur still bristled he looked around. "Come on honey, let's return to the pack." He ushered his mate back towards home keeping an ever watchful eye out. Even though the normal noises of the forest had already come back. He prayed his pack was alright.
When they returned the terrified pup they adopted met them just outside camp. "I was trying to follow you but then there was a wolf but it smelled back it just appeared out of nowhere! Then it was gone! I was so scared!" Gealán brought their pup close and consoled the poor dear while Norðurljós checked on the rest of the pack.

Lore:
You're running, there's a flicker of glowing eyes in the corner of your vision. Fear has you making a hairpin turn, adrenaline keeps you from seeing the thick brush ahead and you go crashing.
Tail over head down a slope, arriving at the bottom you shake your coat out. Trembling and looking around. You sit at the edge of a railroad.
A shiver, the feeling of watchful eyes.
Where is it? Where are you
A blink and there's a wolf where there wasn't before. The light seems to bend around it, as if it wasn't actually there at all.
Its head turns in a strange way, eyes empty but not unkind?
Nausea builds, it feels as if its searching you soul. Viewing you from the inside, your vision blurs in and out. The wolfs face blinking in and out of focus, fur rotting away into a skull before growing muscle and skin again in a mortifying loop. You're pretty sure you vomit, but its black? Or red? you can't tell anymore. Time bends, you think you're dying, it snaps back, that heavy fuzzy heat in your head fades, you regain consciousness. Body sore from laying on the uneven tracks. Confusion clouds your mind, a blink and you're standing next to a river, another and you're in a forest, another and you're cresting the mountain to your pack. Questions fall on ringing ears but you answer nothing, opting to crawl into the furs covering your den. Curling up in hopes it was all a fever dream.
