Biography
Third leader of the pack.
He/Him | Het | ENFP
Means "spirit of the screech owl."
[Lore]
Kotori is a charismatic, sensitive wolf.
He has a traumatic past and because of this he feels hyper-responsible for everything that happens in his pack.
From an early age Kotori has always displayed a superior ability that certainly did not escape his mother's notice. His name was practically already written on the throne, and Aska was proud of him. However, after learning of the family's generational power after a strange dream of an owl warning him of the dangers of his gift, the cub decided never to use the Lunar Somnabulia* as he was frightened of its effects.
His mother was disappointed by this choice, but in fact Kotori saw right through it, for a few years later he would lose his mother, queen Aska, to this power.
Having ascended the throne at the young age of one year and with sadness in his heart after the loss, Kotori nevertheless turned out to be a worthy king, ready to give everything for his pack.
Some time later, however, catastrophe happened. A confrontation with a large enemy pack forced Kotori to use his power for the first time; during this battle, more than half of the pack died, either at the paws of the enemies or from the blue flames raised by the king.
The pack's home, the swamp, was razed and the survivors whose many suffered losses of loved ones, were forced to find another home.
The wounded pack moved to its new home: the taiga.
King Kotori after the event was never the same again.
But this was not the last tragedy Kotori had to suffer.
When his queen became pregnant, she lost her cubs to poisoning. Kotori's nephew Chogan, envious and wanting to be the true king, had always prevented Kotori from having offspring.
The second litter however came to light, Kotori was over the moon to meet his three pups: Miraak, Aiyana and Halona. However, Chogan along with other members of the pack who were his allies, succeeded in the terrible feat of killing one of Kotori's offspring; Halona lost her life, after she had wandered away from the pack.
The great pain that Kotori and Jalen felt was immeasurable; the grief caused Jalen to lose most of her cubs and she was again waiting for her last litter. A miracle happened, however: baby Takoda came into the world, weak and tiny, but perky and full of life.
Takoda grew, and Chogan decided that the adolescent would be his next victim, but this time he wanted to go big. He allied himself with a large pack of bears, sworn enemies of Kotori.
He ambushed Takoda, and almost succeeded in eliminating him, but this time Kotori was too shaken to let his guard down, he managed to arrive in time and finally discover who was behind his family's misfortunes.
Filled with rage, Kotori however chose to do something only a father could do. He did not want to lose any more lives, he would protect the pack at any cost, even if it costs his own life.
For the first time in years, he awakened that power he had decided never to use, that power that only brings death and destruction, and he perfectly knew that his body was not longer strong enough to withstand such a ferocity. Blue flames encircled his body after he bade farewell to his three kids for the last time and without fear he hurled himself towards his enemies, making scorched earth.
What remained of what they still call "the night of a thousand fires" was only the grief of children forced to say goodbye to a father, and of pack members who lost the bravest and most humble king they ever had.
"Oh sweet love, I'll see you again soon in a few minutes. But now... I can feel them, my ancestors fighting by my side for my last will."
*Lunar Somnabulia is a power that only those born exactly a few minutes the end the lunar night event can have.
It is a power that gives those in possession of it the ability to emit blue flames from various parts of the body, usually strongest in the tail. These flames are much hotter than a normal fire and are very difficult to extinguish. They usually reduce whatever they touch to ashes before extinguishing.
The power is activated in heavy moments of stress and the one who uses them, if not trained to withstand the enormous force of this power, will faint a few minutes later, may experience fever or severe discomfort. Abusing it can also lead to death by internal self-burning.
However, there are a few individuals called "sleepwalkers" , who have been able to control the power and use it at will.
These beings are unbeatable.
