Phantomstripe was a keen little boy who wanted to get started growing up right away. When a hunting team returned home with a carcass, they often ended up carrying Phantom as well, because he would try to help carry and get dragged along. Most of his elders thought it was funny and they would even pause for a moment to let him grab onto the carcass. But his mom Autumnbreeze worried that he'd get hurt. She asked the hunters to please be careful with him. He was only a small pup, after all. His relationships with the other pups got a little problematic as well. The dark markings on his face, sides, and tail gave him a distinctly raccoon-like appearance. Other pups took to calling him "raccoon" and sniggering behind their paws. Even his sisters were in on it. He ran crying to his mother more than once about it. Autumn managed to quell the teasing from her daughters, Stoneshimmer and Hawkflight, telling them that Phantom was their brother and they should be on his side. The pupsitters handled the others for the most part. But there were a few stubborn holdouts.
At the Academy, Phantom was assigned to study speed and wisdom to improve his weakest stats. He was happy to be in school finally, as he saw it as a sign of maturity. His eagerness to learn was appreciated by his teachers and they praised his positive energy. But his social life still wasn't how he wanted it. Though his sisters had learned to support and defend him, he would occasionally hear another pup giggle and ask "Will you buy this from me, Raccoon? Do you have the money, Raccoon?" After multiple complaints from Autumn, Phantom's uncle Alpha Grizzlyslash sat all the pups down and lectured them about being kind and not bullying others. They had to take the Alpha seriously and the teasing quickly stopped. Phantom was grateful for the intervention and showed it by studying even harder, especially at the Hunting Basics lesson that he chose himself. The pupsitters noticed his enthusiasm and recommended him for a hunter role, making Autumn very proud.
During his apprenticeship, Phantom went out on the trail with the hunters to learn their secrets. He was one of the most passionate apprentices out there and his fervor for the job was an inspiration to everyone on the trail with him. He was the first apprentice to catch small prey, successfully follow a large trail, and master a standard chasing formation. By the end of his training, Phantom was the best young hunter in the pack. Many of the youngsters who used to make fun of him now admired him and were more than willing to hunt with him.
On his first birthday, Phantom shared a drink with his sisters and the other young wolves in the pack. No one was more excited and proud than Phantom. He felt as though he had come the farthest out of everyone. Even if his packmates didn't all agree with this, they were nonetheless happy to celebrate with him.
Now as an adult, Phantom is still eager to serve his pack and do the best job he can. When hunting alone in the Tundra or on the Glacier, he always did his utmost to bring something home for his packmates, even if it was just an arnica flower he happened across on his way. He was surprised when Alpha Grizzlyslash named him as his heir. He had never aspired to be Alpha. But now that he is, he's determined to be as good an Alpha as his uncle was. He's happy to care for and manage the pack with the earnestness he's known for. And whenever he gets a chance to welcome a new Academy class, he always reminds them not to tease or bully each other.
