Biography
Elgy let out a loud huff as he trudged through the forest, his paws dragging heavily on the ground as he finished his chores. He was frustrated and annoyed, as he often was these days. Ever since he was a pup, his mamma Ekis had been overprotective of him. And now, as a young wolf, he couldn't be more impatient for his freedom.
He was tired of being coddled and doted on. Yes, he was a bit lazy and didn't always make the best decisions, but he didn't need his mamma constantly watching over him. He longed to make his own choices without all the restrictions.
Deep down, he knew that Ekis had her reasons. She had suffered a terrible bear attack in her youth, leaving her scarred both physically and emotionally. Ekis had chosen to keep Elgy and raise him on her own, which he greatly appreciated. He loved the members of Kafila pack and he couldn't imagine a life without them. But he wanted to be more than the pack's densweeper!
As he reached their den, Elgy could see Ekis waiting for him anxiously. He let out another huff and rolled his eyes. "I'm fine, I'm fine..." He started, but couldn't get a word in.
"Elgy, where have you been? I've been so worried!" Ekis exclaimed, rushing over to him and nuzzling his fur, scanning him all over for any fresh wounds.
"Mam, I can take care of myself," Elgy grumbled, trying to pull away from her embrace. He looked around self consciously, trying to appear strong.
Ekis looked at him with a mixture of love and concern. "I know, my dear, but I just want to make sure you're safe. You're all I have left."
Elgy's frustration turned to guilt as he remembered his father, Lucerys, and his brothers who were taken away when he was just a pup. Ekis had chosen to keep him and raise him, and he was grateful for that, but he couldn't help but feel suffocated by her constant attention.
He sighed and slumped down on the ground, feeling self-conscious as he thought about how the other wolves made fun of him for being a mamma's pup. He wanted to prove to them that he was strong and independent, but with Ekis constantly hovering over him, it seemed impossible.
"I just want my own life, Ma," Elgy said, looking up at her with pleading eyes. "I want to go out and explore, make my own decisions, and not be known as the wolf who is always under your paw."
Ekis sat down next to Elgy and let out a deep sigh. "I know you're frustrated, dear, but I just can't help but worry about you! Your father and brothers were taken away when you were just a pup, and there's bears in the woods! My little Elgy... you're not safe out there!"
Elgy stood impatiently, feeling determined. "I'm not just a pup. I'm my own wolf. Even if you can't see that... I'll prove it to you!" He declared, storming off.
