Mekani

Mekani hails from a large forest pack, where he was born as the son of two lowly hunters. Being raised among so many, he had a lively upbringing in a pack that largely seemed free of hunger and strife. A low rank taught him humbleness from a young age, but he picked up the skills of his parents from a young age by joining them on their hunts. Alas, he soon came of age and by then it was time to leave. Those heartfelt goodbyes will always remain in his memory.

Surviving in the wilderness alone was quite the shock, but it was not so difficult as he thought. Practised hunting skills allowed him to feed himself with relative ease and he knew to find shelter when he needed it, but the road ahead was lonely and surprisingly, he spent quite a while travelling before he ran into a pack. Young and naive as he was, he called out to them in search of directions, but who would have ever thought he'd be attacked over the same?

Unlike so many would boldly claim they had, Mekani did not fight them. He fled at the first sign of aggression and continued doing so until he found himself backed against a river. Now that they had nowhere to go, the wolves boldly attacked the one they perceived as an intruder for daring to step into their lands. One among them got a little too overzealous, and before long the two tumbled into the water together. There was no escaping the current, it was simply too strong.

By the time he awoke, Mekani was lying on the shore alongside a female whose scent he could not recognize. He was barely injured, and he vaguely understood the same, but he fled in and out of consciousness for a time. She nursed him back to health, stalking off only to find food, then rushing right back to tend to him. In the passing days, he came to know her as Neith, a rogue she-wolf treated him with exceptional kindness.

Seeing as how neither had a pack to call their own, they chose to travel together and along the way, they came to realize their interest was something more than simple curiosity. With pups on the way, they settled high up in the mountains to avoid summoning the wrath of some pack or another for straying too near their territory. Other rogues joined them along the way, bolstering their numbers and expanding what was slowly but surely becoming a lovely little community.

With Neith taking the role of a pack leader, Mekani proved himself as an excellent hunter and became the leader of the Frostclaws, a tightly-knit hunting party that still remains the pack's main source of food. It wasn't much longer before their first pups were born, two dedicated daughters respectively named Laska and Medea, both equally adored.

The pack has grown exponentially since then. While it's very isolated, it's not a place rogues need enter with fear of cruelty or abuse, but one where they can find shelter, family, and warmth aplenty.
