Sand Shifter

Sand Shifter, formerly known as Sandy Smirk, named after her older brother and mentor Sunny Smirk, rose to become the pack's new leader after Wisp Whisper's sudden death. Sandy Smirk was born alongside her sister Murky Heart, and trained under Sunny Smirk to be a scout, while her sister trained to be a pupsitter. Both sisters, despite the paths they chose in life, remained close with one another, relying on each other to be there to help pick them back up should they fall.

Wisp Whisper, while being her pack leader, was also her and her sister's father, though you'd never guess with the way he treated her. She was ignored most of her life by him, in favor of Wisp speaking with Murky. This obvious favoritism put strain on her relationship with her sister, as Murky Heart dodged her questions on what they spoke about. Wisp Whisper's rapid mental decline led to the pack becoming unorganized and chaotic, along with prey becoming scares in their territory.

Sandy Smirk decided after too many moons of rejection to finally confront her father, demanding to know what all of this was for, but all Wisp Whisper did was look through her, like all those other times she begged for him to see her, to acknowledge her.

He never saw her.

In a fit of blind rage she drove him backwards, snapping at his muzzle until he lost his footing on the ledge behind him and tumbled down. Sandy Smirk, horrified at what had just occurred, ran back to fetch a few others to try and rescue Wisp, to no luck. They found his body a day later, a much larger animal had found him before the rescue party could, and due to his injuries received from the fall, could not fight back.

Sandy Smirk never told her packmates what truthfully happened that night, and she never will. Now that Wisp Whisper was dead, a new pack leader had to be chosen, and Sandy Smirk was the only one of Wisp Whisper's children who were willing to lead. She led the pack out of their rotting territory into newer lands, changed her name to Sand Shifter, as well as renaming the pack to better fit this new era she had suddenly ushered in.

The road is long, but no progress came from idle paws, and she'd sacrifice everything for the sake of her pack.
