"Deadly Nightshade"
Met by Hryhoolou in the riparian woodlands, Khosrhac was invited to assist with the rearing of the pack’s first pups. Olsac, who until this point had been the sole caretaker, was worried that he would be unable to keep an eye on the numerous litters expected. Khosrhac joined them, and he quickly proved good at his job - few pups were lost, and he even persuaded Hryhoolou to allow them to bring in young orphans and lost pups, to bolster the Pines’ numbers and ensure a wide variety of bloodlines.
Khosrhac was good at his job. So why, many seasons later, when their lead denminder Olsac passed away, was the alpha’s daughter Rulahou promoted over him? Hryhoolou had sworn she would never let the Pines be ruled by the same nepotism that many packs were - this had been the main reason Khosrhac had stayed with them thus far - and yet here they were, Hryhoolou’s daughter taking the place that should rightfully be his. But Khosrhac had pups to care for. He would not abandon his task just because of this betrayal.
The next one, however… The pups were doomed from the start, in his professional opinion. It was a hard winter for even the grown wolves, and there were so many whelps between their founders’ four daughters. By the time they were abandoned, one had already died, and another was on the brink of death from a young alligator’s bite. It was for the best that it was over, until it wasn’t over. Four of the pups returned in the summer, claiming they had been blessed by some goddess, and of course they were going to take high ranks in the pack. This had been their plan all along, hadn’t it? Hryhoolou and Uruhouou conspiring to place their kindred into powerful positions while keeping everyone on side. They hadn’t broken any promises, had they, if a god had demanded it? But really, they had surely been caring for the pups themselves all along, and even Khosrhac had to admit that it was really quite impressive they had kept four of them alive. That didn’t mean he would stand for this any further. He saw to it that the newest batch of pups were settled, knew that his colleagues would take good care of them if nothing else (though it could have been better under his guidance, but it was far too late for that now), and then, by the end of the moon, he was gone.
