Biography
Aephier's story is based on my pack's lore. Essentially a god stuck in mortal body kind of situation, along with Zarah and Mar'Saryah.
----------------------------------
Father of Miano, Cailina, Faena...
Personality
Aephier was always a fair, just, and loyal being. He had seen much in his time, though almost always through the shadows of the world. He was, as a god, a protector of the dead and master of shadows. However, many also saw him like his father, a punisher of wicked souls, or even like his mother, a serpent in the shadows waiting to kill.
In his current situation, Aephier is willing to see things through to its end. He is uncertain what it means, but he is sure there is a lesson to be learned and lessons to be taught.
Relationships
Aephier is one of the few lovers Mar has allowed herself to have, though it is unclear how deep a bond the two share. It is an "on again, off again" thing, but generally speaking they remain friends in between.
Aephier is friendly with most of the Echo Whispers pack. He holds a place of respect as Mar's adviser, but he lets her handle keeping in line more rowdy members. Kazsin seems to respect him most, Kaz being one of the oldest of the pack's hunters.
History
Aephier's history is a long one. He was born the son of Tah'Dajo, who at the time was the fallen-god of vengeance, and Xuna, the daughter and champion of a cruel and bloodthirsty goddess. His parents did not define the path Aephier would follow. He found his father's war with the other gods pointless and his mother's scheming distasteful. He would find his own place in the heavens, and he did so by pledging his loyalty to Dara, the Shepherd of the Dying. Aephier became the enemy of all who would dare disturb the rest of the dead, and when a spirit was angered, he was angered.
Mar knew many of Aephier's younger brothers, having helped raise some of them, and many were more loyal to her than their father. When Tah'Dajo's jealous plot against Mar's mortal lover, Rokumo, was revealed and Tah'Dajo killed Rokumo, Aephier was there to comfort Mar. He vowed he would ensure Rokumo would be at peace in death, and over time he helped Mar come to peace with Rokumo's death and her unintended betrayal of him.
Story
"How can he protect us now?" "Can he even hear us?" "The Shadow Caller is no more. We will protect ourselves."
As Aephier walked through the forest he tried to drown out the whispers of the spirits around him. Though he could not see them, he could hear them and practically feel their gawking, as he, once a god, was now trapped in mortal form. He could sense their fear and worry, and he shared these feelings, but he was more rational than they. He wandered until he found a high place to look out over the land. He let out a long, lonely howl. He was uncertain why he did it, and he did not expect an answer.
Not long after, a pair of ravens landed beside him. He looked at the ravens with an almost knowing look. "The world has changed hasn't it, old friend?" The ravens cocked their heads in his direction, revealing that both had strangely one red eye. "You saw much in your many lives, Tah'Nimo, and in each you had hope of a better day to come, even in the coldest of nights. Grant me that strength, if you see it fit, son of Dara."
Then Aephier heard a howl, equally as long as his was, and almost as lonely. It was followed by a second. The two ravens took off in the direction of the howls, and beneath them Aephier followed. One day we will fly together again, old friend. For now, let us see what your uncle has laid out before me.
The ravens led him to a pair of she-wolves, but there was something familiar about them both. Mar'Saryah and Aephier's aunt Zarah readily welcomed Aephier. Mar explained to him what she knew of their situation, and told him she and Zarah were determined to make the most of it. Aephier agreed to help them in this.
