Romeo's ancestors migrated from Juneau Alaska. There has always been one dog and human friendly wolf in each generation, having inherited the gene from an ancestor. Romeo's ancestors traveled a long way, full of hardship, to find lands to raise their family.
The real Romeo showed up one day in Juneau Alaska, 2003. He befriended many dogs, and was comfortable with some people. It's quite possible Romeo showed us how wolves became human companions.
