Obsidian was born in a pack to the north of the Pack of Boulders. The winters were cold and dark, lasting so long that Obsidian forgot what it was like to be warm. His mother had some husky ancestry and that appearance passed on to Obsidian. The other pups made fun of him for it, so he left the pack when he was just an adolescent.
He traveled for several months before finding Granite and the Pack of Boulders. By that time he was filthy and starving. She took him in and made him a hunter in her pack. None of the wolves there judged him for his heritage and he felt like he had finally found his place.
As Obsidian became more comfortable, he started confiding in Granite. He told of his past, and she told him of hers. They bonded and steadily grew closer. Granite consulted Obsidian on any big decisions in the pack, and he offered her his advice. He didn't agree with everything she said, like Mica did; he's not afraid to challenge Granite if he needs to get his point across. When Granite asked him to be her mate and the breeding male of the pack, Obsidian was surprised. Of course he said yes-he truly loves Granite-he was just expecting that role to go to Mica. Now that he's settling in to his pack role, he enjoys it. He is content to spend his days hunting and playing with his pups.
